Prayer thread for summer 2009 - My grace is sufficient

DutchOma · 18/06/2009 13:24

My grace is sufficient for you 2Cor 12:9
and
When I am weak then I am strong 2Cor 12:10

Reading through last month's prayer request I came across the first text quoted by M44 and it brought the second one to mind.
When I am weak.....when I cry out to the Lord to my sisters to please pray for me, when life is hard....then I am strong.
I counted more than 20 names in last month's prayerlist, more than 30 when I counted the names Dippy had mentioned at the beginning of her update, so I will only mention a few names here.

We pray for Anna and Findlay, where real miracles of the Lord are needed.
For M44's mother-in-law in hospital
For Weegiemum that the Lord may uphold her as only He can. For Marc and Suzanne on their wedding day.
For Boilerwoman that she may take her strength from the Lord.
For Jentlydoesit and her DP that God may bring good into a difficult situation. Giving thanks for the new job.
For Swaliswan and dd2.
For Onlyjoking in this season of remembrances and for the children who are suffering more now than a year ago.
For Clockface with exciting changes to come.

And at this stage, sisters, I call you together to prayer for one another.
You know who you are - beloved of the Lord.

Sophable, still praying for you. It's hard "waiting on God" I know. He knows your pain though, and has your best interests at heart.

On a different note, I had a really good day. The service went well this morning, despite my vicar sitting at the back (he puts me off!). He liked my sermon a lot and said I "really seemed at home" taking the service. Lots of people thanked me for a lovely service. Then, when I preached again, I had people say to me that I really "hit the mark" with the sermon, and the priest praised it highly too. . Thank you God, I know it is down to you and the gifts you have given me. I praise you, for you are totally awesome!

LovingtheSilverFox · 19/07/2009 21:42

Sophable - praying that God calms your heart.

CD - braver lady than me! I always wanted a tatoo, but haven't had the nerve! And I haven't seen my belly button in years, let alone trying to find it to have it pierced!

MaryBS - Am so glad it went well today, He will guide and direct you to give you confidence.

Am resigned to House B now, we did some packing of non-essential bits and pictures etc yesterday, so it feels a bit more real now. I know He will do what is best for us, but sometimes it is a little hard to let go of that control.

Praying for everyone, and please remember us for the nest few weeks as DD is on her first summer holiday from nursery, I am going to try really hard to make this go well! Also anyone have any ideas for a day out on Thursday or Friday in Essex?

MaryBS · 20/07/2009 08:36

Sophable, how are things with you?

LTSF, God knows what he is doing, I pray he reveals his purpose for you. We had a dreadful time moving house, not getting the house we wanted etc etc. Yet God has worked wonders since we have been in this house. I was clearly meant to be here, in this village and going to the church I am going to. I've changed SO MUCH from a "once a month Christian who thought she was going to hell anyway, because another Christian told her she was", you wouldn't recognise me from the person I used to be!

Eek CD re: tattoos etc! Not my idea of fun, I must admit! We want to see pix afterwards!

Praying for you all...

Heathcliffscathy · 20/07/2009 19:24

no period. no BFP. All very strange here. Keep knicker checking! Am very very grateful for your prayers.

DutchOma · 20/07/2009 20:17

So pleased for you Sophable.
Try and keep your mind off it just a little and put the matter in the hands of the Lord. We are praying for you and of course you must too, but try and keep calm, easier said than done, but better for you AND for tiny titchy bean.

Soph - Hug 'n' prayers for you!

LovingtheSilverFox · 20/07/2009 22:39

Sophable - thinking of you and praying for calm.

MaryBS - thanks, I hope things will be revealed soon, I know He will do what is best, but sometimes it's so hard to remember that He will reveal all in His time not ours.

Praying for everyone, and thanks for your prayers ladies, we had a good day today, insofar as I didn't end up in tears, and didn't walk straight out of the house as soon as DH walked in from work! Even managed to get all the Monday housework done, and was smiling when he walked through the door. Only the rest of the holidays to go....keep praying ladies!

ZipadiSoozi · 20/07/2009 22:39

God's timing is imaculate, but I'd rather not think about that cause we had to wait 12 years then another 8 years but I look at my brood now and {{{{{{{sigh}}}}}}}}} "how beautiful" I really believe that Gods timing is the right time!

ZipadiSoozi · 20/07/2009 22:39

Hia Foxy

ZipadiSoozi · 20/07/2009 22:42

CD - how did the tattoo go, what did you have and where?

Nosey Zippy

LovingtheSilverFox · 20/07/2009 22:45

Hi Zippy {{{{waving}}}}

God has His reasons for everything, the hardest thing is when you can't see why something happens.

Oh yes CD - how did it go?? Can we see a pic?

ZipadiSoozi · 20/07/2009 22:49

Foxy - Whilst waiting for CD to surface, I checked your piccys out, I just love your pile of dc, have you seen mine.

Adorable as they seem, I havent finished their timetable for activities to keep them all busy over school holidays, they finish school tomorrow!

LovingtheSilverFox · 20/07/2009 23:13

Just checked yours out Soozi, and they are gorgeous! What gorgeous colour hair they have! I am always in awe of people whose kids have a lovely colour hair, I know DD1 will complain and try to dye it all sorts of outrageous colours, as her hair is the same colour as my Mum's which is slightly nondescript really. Although I try to enforce positivity even at this age, by saying it's lovely and straight with a natural flick into a bob, and is very shiny. Mine is black, and curly and gets very wiry and frizzy in all certain weathers.

I have to try to get Chartlotte involved with the twins, to keep her occupied and with me, otherwise, at any nappy change/feeding she tries to use my turned back to be independant and will load the washing machine, make a sandwich, feed/kill the cat, set up painting equipment (on my carpet) etc. Any tips for surviving these two months?

LovingtheSilverFox · 20/07/2009 23:23

Soozi - as a parent of children older than my own, am I nuts to not rule out having more?! People often raise their eyebrows as far as is possible when I say we will review the situation in 3 or 4 years time. Am I mad??

CaptainDippy · 21/07/2009 15:40

HA! HA! HA! HA!

Bless you guys!! It wasn't me having the tattoo, it was NSFN - she's just had her bellyubtton done (I had mine done years ago, but took it out when I got PG with my 1st girlie) and now she has had a tattoo - not moi WE WANT TO SEE PICS NSFN!! COME BACK!!

Any more news Sophable?? xx

You got me all confused (doesn't take a lot!! ) I thought a you were both going for tattoos!! Madness!!!

Praying for all you with younger children and rainy summer hols to fill up! Sunshine next week!

mjim - praying that you feel better soon, and energy levels rise! And for DS, too.

Ltsf - something I heard a while back - you Never regret having any more children, but you may regret NOT having "Just one more..." Says she, mum of 5!!! Mine are all close in age, though, less than 6 years between my eldest and youngest.

Sophable - ????????news???????? Prayers for you.

Just spoken to DD2 who has just landed in this country from Durban. She sounds exhausted, but says she is going back next year! Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Prayers would be appreciated for a community weekend here that I am heavily involved in. Free family fun day put on by locals, loads of bouncy castles, activities, bands, fun, football, games, food, etc. All with Christian message. At the moment rain, rain and more rain. Soggy field! Exhausting fun!!

LovingtheSilverFox · 22/07/2009 11:23

OK I got very truly confused with the whole tatoo business!

Praying for everyone today.

I am feeling hesitantly bouncy, hesitantly because we have two good days, and I am wondering when things are going to nose dive, but so far so good!

Soph - thinking of you, hope you are ok.

weegiemum · 22/07/2009 12:30

I'm back, I'm back!

We had a fantubulous holiday with lots of going to the beach and otherwise chilling out. It was great. Saw some good friends, and had a lot of fun. My ankle didn't allow much hillwalking but did allow me to sit in a deckchair and drink wine!! And be an occasional fielder for beach cricket.

I had a psych appointment yesterday which went pretty badly. Spot me the namechanger here .

But am off out for lunch with a friend now (kids at babysitter) and am going to an old friend's wedding on Friday, and the sun is out, so the week is looking up, I would say!

Off to catch up with the tatoo saga ....

notsofarnow · 22/07/2009 20:23

could you please pray for friend her dsd who has a one yr old ds and really isn't coping too well, relationship with ds father is on and off as he wanted his freedom. She is drinking and using occassional drugs, she has admitted to smaking and shaking her ds, she can't cope with him for the majority of the time and df ends up taking him off her hands. She has said on numerous occassions that she doesn't want him. We ended up referring her to Homestart yesterday so please pray that this young inexperienced mum gets some help and that she begins to love her son and see him as God sees him. Just pray for healing in the whole situation really - I probably haven't explained it terribly well but God knows.

Also for another df who's nephew in his early 20's is on palliative cheamo for a tumour on his heart that has spread to his lungs - she is trying to be the support to her dsis and dn and she is having a really difficult time at home with an unsupportive dh who is an only child and can't understand the whole situation of supporting other people and is treating his family in the way he talks to them with contempt, and is expecting a tidy house and moaning about the little time his dw is spending at home.

ZipadiSoozi · 22/07/2009 20:36

NSFN - Aw prayers for all the saddness there.

CD - lol, I always get the wrong end of the stick with you I read your welcome to NSFN then you went on to say "This lady".... I thought you were referring to yourself reliving your youth (re: tattoo) howl and more lol.......

Anyway, I agree piccy NSFN???????

ZipadiSoozi · 22/07/2009 20:47

Oh and regarding our silver wedding anniversary, 'garden party, off' don't feel like celebrating, wish someone would just take the decisions out of my head, can't be bothered to get the house straight enough to welcome hourds of visitors! farce anyway!

Feel like I've failed myself and very deflated, after organising everything, right down to invites, pergula (dressed in silver ribbon bows) garden games, seating, and cake!!!!

In the end it all boiled down to lack of energy and love to make the day happen.

Thank goodness I didn't book my friend vicar to bless us!

MaryBS · 23/07/2009 07:23

Sooz, sorry to hear that, can you not perhaps have a private "celebration", just to see if you can rekindle your relationship? Or is that a bad idea at the moment? Praying for you both...

Also praying for your dfs' situations, how awful for them both and those involved.

We are off on holiday tomorrow for 2 weeks, so will be missing in action... unless we take advantage of the Wi-fi available in the accommodation .

God bless all...

Heathcliffscathy · 23/07/2009 09:26

Thank you so much for your prayers ladies. My period came yesterday and I feel very calm and positive facing the next cycle (although a little angry with my body for tricking me as i've never been late before). Your support is so precious to me.

MaryBS, praying for a restful, fun, warm holiday for you!
