Prayer thread for summer 2009 - My grace is sufficient

My grace is sufficient for you 2Cor 12:9
and
When I am weak then I am strong 2Cor 12:10

Reading through last month's prayer request I came across the first text quoted by M44 and it brought the second one to mind.
When I am weak.....when I cry out to the Lord to my sisters to please pray for me, when life is hard....then I am strong.
I counted more than 20 names in last month's prayerlist, more than 30 when I counted the names Dippy had mentioned at the beginning of her update, so I will only mention a few names here.

We pray for Anna and Findlay, where real miracles of the Lord are needed.
For M44's mother-in-law in hospital
For Weegiemum that the Lord may uphold her as only He can. For Marc and Suzanne on their wedding day.
For Boilerwoman that she may take her strength from the Lord.
For Jentlydoesit and her DP that God may bring good into a difficult situation. Giving thanks for the new job.
For Swaliswan and dd2.
For Onlyjoking in this season of remembrances and for the children who are suffering more now than a year ago.
For Clockface with exciting changes to come.

And at this stage, sisters, I call you together to prayer for one another.
You know who you are - beloved of the Lord.

CD - I am feeling for you so much at this time

Update is just as I started typing this, call from the EA to say that the original buyer has upped his offer, and even if we were to go higher we wouldn't be in any better position than we are now. Feeling a bit down, as I had got my hopes up despite trying not to.

CD - praying for you and your family. How are they today?

Haven't been able to use computer much - staying with my parents now for 6 weeks as we are sort of homeless at the moment. Moving to new house in new country middle of August. I have quite a difficult relationship with my parents and would not manage this on my own strength! Also we haven't seen DH since beginning of June.

LTSF: it is meant to be, i really really believe that, that finding a home is something that god and what we need in that time in our lives guides. I hope that you can find peace and comfort knowing that when it happens it will be right.

Definitely to that, MJIM. Have been praying for all of you.

Its been a bit manic here, I took the school leaver service in church on Thursday - nearly 300 children plus teachers/parents. Not too onerous, as the head did a lot of it, but I got to dress up in my cassock/surplice and look official . This Sunday I am leading and preaching at one service before driving to my home church and preaching again. The sermon is half-written, I need to crack on with it! I hope it'll be a very powerful message for people. A theme of "sheep without a shepherd" and how we should keep going even when we don't feel the presence of God in our lives, as he is right there with us anyway.

MaryBS - I need your sermon about being a sheep with no shepherd!! Do you have podcasts? Sounds all a bit busy, but exciting. I always think those school things are such a wonderful opportunity for witness. People will turn up to those to support their darlings, but never walk into a church normally. I have sat through some horrendously boring ones (I am sure yours wasn't - Nobody who does mumsnet can be that boring!!)wondering what sort of image of a Christian are people leaving with. No wonder they are not inclined to walk through church doors sometimes. VERY GENERAL comment there, sorry. Hope i haven't offended anyone.

Prayers for you all, with big changes, uncertain futures and heartache. HUGS to all.

I know it is very trivial, but I lost prob about a stone or so around Feb time and I have completely piled the weight back on, feel very negative and rubbishy about my obsy image atm; need to lose the weight again as these thoughts are consuming me and it is horrid

How you feel about yourself is not trivial darling Dippy.
You've had a lot to cope with, especially in the past week or so, please don't be hard on yourself.

I saw my cousin on Wednesday. She is now in terminal care, her daughter and husband have moved in with the two children so that she is not on her own. She is having outside carers as well and she is perfectly peaceful although a bit worried that 'things are getting worse every day' They have a tough time coming and I know she has been upheld by our prayers earlier. Her name is Nellemiek.

CD, I am the size of a small house at the moment, much bigger than you I'm sure . Try not to let it get to you, there's a time and a place for sorting out weight, and when you are weighed down with the cares of the world, that is not a good time to be dieting.

DO, praying for Nellemiek and her family...

PAO, we don't do podcasts, but I can email you a version if you like, I write everything out in full. This one came from the heart, I hope and pray it reaches people. I REALLY felt strongly what my message should be - that it had to be "just so"...

CD - dts godparent has just had a tattoo on her foot, of the footprints and verse! looks lovely. Not quite sure I could have belly button piercing though! yikes!!!!!! makes mi tummy feel queasy Prayers your tattoo goes ok!

Praise the Lord! had a tiny breakthrough with dh last night, prayers it continues!

And a silly but important prob occurred, looking after neighbours snake and the shed is locked with the freezer that keeps the mice to feed it, I don't know what sort of snake it is or how big it is cause its hiding in a tube, so I don't know what or where to get mice!!!!!

May have to go to pet city!!

ohhh footprints and verse how the heck to do fit all tht verse on a foot???

I'm having a pic of cupped hands at base of my back because it reminded me of being held in God's hands. I think eventually I want the words I'm in His hands on there somewhere too.

It's very hard, Sophable and I know just what you mean. it's years ago know since I was in that situation (baby, two misses and a baby) but you are right, the hope is almost worse than the despair. Praying for your peace of mind, God cares for you and will do what is best, difficult as it is to accept.
