Just a quick post to say to you all that I've gone through the emailed offers with Stars today, and will be mailing each of you back - finally - sorry for the delay.

Anyone with spare DVDs - yes please! The kids are complaining! TheDreadPirateOfMN at googlemail dot com - and I'll get back to you with a postal address.

And I'm sure you'll all be delighted to hear that Flibberty's popcorn maker turned up here today, so I'll get it to Stars over the weekend (don't fancy carrying it into the solicitor's office tomorrow).

Thank you all again - Star's life seems to be on wheels right now and I reckon you're the axle grease

minesacheeseandpicklesandwich · 04/06/2009 21:59

Dread or Stars, can you remind me what age the DCs are, DVD wise?

theDreadPirateRoberts · 04/06/2009 22:11

Ooh - 6yo girl, 8 yo boy, both v bright and funny

BradfordMum · 05/06/2009 07:39

Good luck for today, girls.
Hope the solicitor is helpful and can ease the situation by offering good advice.

Sycamoretreeisvile · 05/06/2009 15:00

Stars - Something in the post today to hopefully keep your DC's entertained

You're probably exhausted aren't you? Hope you get a moment to relax sometime soon. You really are quite incredible, I'm so inspired by your positivity and can-do attitude.

Stay strong

Jux · 05/06/2009 18:09

Oh stars, I am so happy for you. You listen to music with the phone switched off. Oh, what a lovely life. Well done, well done, well done.

starsnstripes · 05/06/2009 20:00

Hi Everyone.

Yes, am playing lots of music at night and relaxing.

Saw the solicitor today and she was very pro active and very reassuring.
Dread came in with me and was brilliant with her ready prepared questions.

As far as the anxiety is concerned I have been on numerous buses and the thoughts panic seem to have disappeared.

H's trip to the CAB panicked him a bit and he rang up saying he was worried I was going to the CSA and it would force him out of the house as he could'nt afford the maintanance.
Also as far as school is concerned he will not object to them starting on monday as I have arranged at least for now, whatever that means.

The children have gone to his for the weekend and were excited about going and am confident he will go by the book and bring them back on sunday.
Although H has rung 2 times already asking me to keep my mobile on if I go out so he can contact me and asked why I did'nt pack a jumper for DD as she is cold.
She has tons of clothes at the old house still so he just needed to check her wardrobe.

Thank you so much everyone for the offers of things for the new house.
All will be much appreciated.
I have yet to take anything form the old house as H keeps changing his mind about what I can have but don't plan on taking anything major just a few personal bits and pieces.

Sycamore- thank you that is really kind of you.

Flibberty-Thank you so much for the popcorn maker, dread is bringing it round tomorrow.
So will popping corn tomorrow night.

Now have the weekend to sort paperwork into files otherwise dread will be after me!!
Hang up clothes and get orgainised whilst the children are'nt here and get there stuff ready for school on monday.

the schools look great, have been so lucky in finding them and they are both just round the corner.

Thanks again to everyone .
I just sat reading through old posts since 22nd May when I left and had a few tears.
I still get moments when I think have I done the right thing for the children but they pass quickly and the children have adapted so well and seem excited about their new schools.

theDreadPirateRoberts · 05/06/2009 20:16

And DD will look lovely in her new school uniform - red is very much her colour

Pleased it's all falling into place Stars

Just again to say if you do need any help re schools / LA / SN etc do shout - but do it on email rather than here next week as I'm away on holiday - can check emails on my mobile but for some reason can't get this thread on there.

Have a lovely, stress-free weekend

Pacific · 05/06/2009 20:44

Hello Stars. I am a very occasional poster. Just want to add my good wishes and support. I think you are awesome.

singalongamumum · 05/06/2009 21:09

Hi stars,

Glad to hear the solicitor was supportive. And so pleased the schools look good. Also looks like DH is on the run re money so that makes a change!

Hope you have a lovely, peaceful and constructive weekend. You ARE doing the right thing for your children- just keep remembering how it was for them before you moved. Still so proud of you. You are an amazing strong woman. Come and say hi to us at the weekend if things feel a bit quiet for you... xxxxx

SammyK · 05/06/2009 21:18

Hi stars

So nice to hear you have schools sorted.

Don't promise him anything regarding finances, how would he lose the house when it is in trust for your son?? Don't let him guilt you into agreeing to anything, let your solicitor advise you - she sounds just right.

I meant to say the last time I posted, can you imagine what the person in the LEA office thought of him when he called. 'My wife has up and left me with no warning taking both of my children and whipping them out of school.' What would your first thought be hearing that? I would be wondering why, tiring of humouring him, and wishing you luck!!

Are you sure you feel comfortable with the children being there for the weekend? What did your solicitor say regarding contact? Did he actually go to family in Ireland after you left?

Portofino · 05/06/2009 21:44

Good to hear from you Stars! I must admit to a slight that H didn't get quite the response at the CAB that he might have hoped for!

It will be interesting to see how he manages with the dcs for a weekend by himself. No sneaking off to the pub.... I guess (shock horror) he will even have had to go shopping for essential food items!

Hopefully you can have a nice peaceful weekend, getting stuff sorted out, and fielding phone calls from H about what do about this, how to manage this etc etc. It might finally dawn on him that you are not QUITE as useless as he might have thought...

OP posts:
SammyK · 05/06/2009 22:21

Will he physically be able to go a whole weekend without a drink though? Could he manage it when you were there stars? I have memories of being sat on the pub garden wall for a lot of my saturdays as a child.

Portofino I had to smirk thinking of him when reading your post.

Dalrymps · 05/06/2009 22:27

Glad the appointment went well stars

Sorry but lol at h worrying about paying maintenance, ha! He'll have to stop drinking then won't he!

You most definately have done the right thing for the children, they will realise just what an amazing thing you did for them one day. Also, as you know you have set a very important example for them, the effect of that will positively influence the rest of their lives. They now know that they don't have to put up with shit from anyone and there is always a way out

Is there anything off the list that I offered that you need? Not sure if Dread is sorting it? No worries if you don't need any of it but if you do let me or dread know and i'll arrange it to be sent

You're doing so fantastic, keep playing that music! Oh by the way, have you got enough music? What kind do you like? I'm sorting my cd's so might have something...

mistlethrush · 05/06/2009 22:48

Wonderful to hear to so happy and positive!!

Have a great, relaxed weekend in your house - OK, perhaps do some stuff and get sorted for school on Monday etc - but just take some time for yourself when you do nothing - or sit in the sun, or read a book or listen to some music. You need to be kind to yourself.

Have a lovely weekend!

Horton · 05/06/2009 23:27

Stars, GREAT to hear you sounding so in charge and on top of things. A massive round of applause for you and how very far you have journeyed. I'm so proud of you and what you've done for your kids and yourself. Bit drunk, too. But honestly, I am so pleased every time I hear how strong you sound.

Hope H can be a better daddy than he has been in the past this weekend.

fledtoscotland · 05/06/2009 23:27

Glad that all went ok with the solicitor today Stars (and that you had Dread with you).

have had the email from Dread so will have a rummage for you over the weekend

BalloonSlayer · 06/06/2009 08:17

Well done Stars!

I meant to post when you said H was going to the CAB, I thought then that he would imagine he would be hearing a lot to his advantage but would have a profound shock. Tee hee!

I am so glad things are going well for you.

You are fab!

Dalrymps · 06/06/2009 10:09

Dread - don't worry, you're not craply organised, I haven't mailed you yet. I just added to the list on here... What's your address again? I'll send you a little list of what i've got.
