Has God ever just answered a prayer that you needed so badly?

Dh a do have been going through a terrible time with an incident that happened in work 5 years ago. It was a horrendous, difficult time. My husband was basically suicidal. Although this was such a time of trial, Gods hand was always upon us, guiding us even tho we didn't see it, and to us the days still seemed dark. After lots of prayer and years worth of worry we got a solicitor letter (out if the blue) basically withdrawing any wrong doing ir any allegations , on the same day that DH received a job offer from a dream job opportunity. We have received multiple, countless blessing that have come at EXACTLY the right time. It has been incredibly difficult yet incredibly comforting that God has always guided us through our trials and made things possible that just wouldn't have been so without intervention. Today we have received another wonderful blessing.

That sounds good!

Yes, I have had prayers answered, though by a goddess, with results that were good for everyone involved, family, friends and neighbours. It's a very comforting feeling to be given that help.

PauliesWalnuts · 20/12/2022 14:35

Yes, numerous times. Mainly through me rattling through decades of the rosary though.

Vincitveritas · 29/12/2022 15:15

Yes, absolutely, it's too personal to share here though. Just wanted to add; God is not a wish granting genie and works to His own timetable. I make a point of not praying for things like green traffic lights, help finding lost objects, material goods, parking spaces - trivial & egocentric things of that nature.

"So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:31-34.

Adviceneeded200 · 29/12/2022 15:17

No because I've never prayed.

I have had times with happy coincidences though. And I've had years where one thing after another went wrong - I.e 2022!

chillibop · 29/12/2022 15:22

How do you know it's God answering your prayers, rather than circumstantial or good luck?

fallfallfall · 29/12/2022 15:34

Yes numerous times.

NestingSparrow · 29/12/2022 20:08

I suppose for me it’s when there are just too many coincidences for it to be coincidence. It’s also a feeling that I recognise, a feeling of peace, I know that I have been heard.
Of course I can never prove it - the only things that can be proven are maths and consciousness - that’s why it’s called faith, but it’s enough to give me a sense of well-being, that there is more to life.
Prayer and my faith has kept me from going under.

amispeakingintongues · 30/12/2022 01:09

Yes. A mighty prayer was answered in my life three years ago when God delivered me from addiction. Something I'd tried doing many times without God and never succeeded.

I'm now a born again Christian, and since that day God has given me life in abundance.

My favourite verse - "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest" Matthew 11:28

LBFseBrom · 30/12/2022 01:35

Yes, a couple of times. He truly is mighty.

BluebellsareBlue · 30/12/2022 02:11

Nope, and because you've has years worth of worry, it wasn't god, it was a good solicitor, that you probably should have employed earlier. If it was god it wouldn't have made your husband suicidal.. ffs! Get a grip

Craver · 30/12/2022 02:22

I suppose my view of "God" is a bit more of power or strength that helps me get off my arse and change my life for the better myself. I have a problem with the passive answering prayers shite...does someone die of cancer simply because they didn't pray enough or was it a cruel God who decided not to answer their prayers?

Yes he has not going to publicly comment here but this was a relationship issue I slipped away from church. My daughter and wife had the same vision on the same day my wife had a picture of a path with waterfall and my daughter had drawn a picture of a path with the 3 of us holding hands god had promised in july we would all be walking on the same path by August that was true.
Advice in prayer don’t pray with your mind but your heart also getting on your knees to pray helps and means more.

Summer2424 · 30/12/2022 03:04

@whenthedreamhappens that's amazing, so happy for you all 🙏

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 30/12/2022 07:40

No, quite the opposite so now I don’t bother.

WordtoYoMumma · 30/12/2022 07:46

I believe God healed my son in the womb. I don't talk about it much except with those who understand because the practical logistics of it get torn apart by people who don't want to believe ("why did he need healing in the first place? What if.you hadn't prayed, would he not have been healed? Why would God punish a baby for his mum not praying?" Etc etc on and on and I don't really have answers)

lifeinthehills · 30/12/2022 08:14

Another one here with quite the opposite experience. The most crucial prayer wasn't answered. I don't want to go into details but there were some other elements that meant it played out in a particularly cruel way. I'm not on speaking terms with god. If he exists, he doesn't care about me.

FestiveAF · 30/12/2022 08:22

Why on earth would a God choose to only help people who pray? Why would a God choose to let innocent babies die because their parents didn’t do enough rosaries? Why would a God expect people to pray for 5 YEARS before he did anything to help? Why would he even let it happen in the first place and choose to create 5 years of near suicide?

Fieldfly · 30/12/2022 08:26

Presumably your dh’s job offer was due to his experience, hard work and skills - he was the best for the job! Well done! And presumably you supported him through the bad times - well done you! The withdrawal of whatever accusation it was has presumably happened because whatever processes needed to be carried out have finally concluded. It’s nice that praying has been a comfort for you but I can’t see anything to suggest the influence of the supernatural. I’m afraid this has popped up in trending otherwise I wouldn’t have seen your thread. I hope you don’t mind answers that don’t fit with what you want to hear!

Thinkwicebeforeyouleavemylife · 30/12/2022 08:32

It's a shame God can't find it in his heart to save dying children, isn't it?

Fieldfly · 30/12/2022 08:42

Especially children from countries like Yemen, maybe it’s because their parents aren’t praying hard enough 🙄.

I do find the concept that there are adults who are happy to accept and worship a god who answers prayers about things like one person’s job while he ignores the massive scale of suffering around the world interesting.

HelpMeGetThrough · 30/12/2022 09:11

It baffles me that people believe all this and that this bugger actually exists.

Not one of them has seen him/her/they/them (delete all that don't apply).

Mariposista · 30/12/2022 10:02

My 91yo gran was put on end of life care with her heart condition. We all raced home, she was given just 5 days to live and she looked so so ill, so dreadful. I said to God I know you don’t do this usually, and I don’t know what to pray for as what I want more than anything can’t happen but just help me, please.

That was 9 weeks ago. My gran opened her Christmas presents, ate a turkey lunch and we took her to the garden centre in a wheelchair. She is still at home. She is baffling the doctors. They have totally reviewed her medication and review her but they now have the top GP looking after her as she is a real miracle. I saw her results, she shouldn’t have survived more than a week! But she is a tough old bird and not ready to go yet.

Thank you God. Just thank you.

amispeakingintongues · 30/12/2022 14:01

To those confused about death, illness, pain and suffering - A note about suffering from a Christian understanding;

From a biblical perspective, we must also reject the idea that if God loves us, he cannot intend for us to suffer. This premise crumbles on every scriptural page. Time and again, we see those who are chosen and beloved by God suffering. When Jesus comes, we see that script played out on a cosmic stage: God’s beloved Son, the One in whom the Father is well pleased, comes expressly to suffer and to die out of love for his people. Indeed, our beliefs about God and suffering expose the fault lines between our natural assumptions and the biblical narrative.

biologos.org/articles/how-could-a-loving-god-allow-so-much-suffering

personally, I suffered for years with guilt, shame, fear, depression and addiction. Yes, Jesus freed me AFTER i gave my life to him, however if it was not for these years of suffering i’d never have known this height of love and peace.

Catfaceoff · 30/12/2022 14:11

So god gave a 91 yr old lady a few more weeks to live and a man a good job whilst deciding my friend’s much loved baby should die.

nice dude

or rather, as he doesn’t exist - self centred self obsessed adults
