I've been away from this thread for just a couple of hours and come back to find a whole heap of messages.
I think, Royal Mail being what it is, it will take all the time till naswm is out of hospital to send a card round. So I would suggest you all sending your own card to DG and she sends them in an envelope to naswm. I will enclose an envelope with some stamps on it with my card.
As far as flowers are concerned, I'm quite happy to spend whatever you think on some flowers and you can send it to me as and when. I think I have a lot of addresses already, to let you know my postal address, but you can send them to me if you want to contribute, either by CAT or in the format that is usual on mumsnet. If I get more money than I have spent I can send some more in a week and so on.
I can then e.mail DG and ask her which hospital I need to find a flowershop near to. I have a fair idea already. She can then ring the shop and ask them to put name and address of hospital on it. I'm making it up as I go along... Hope it makes sense.

MaryBS · 18/07/2007 15:36

I'll catch up later with all the flurry of activity - just wanted to say my date went really well... and I think we'll be seeing each other again!

CaptainDippy · 18/07/2007 15:50

Good point, DO ...... Would be great if you could organise flowers ..... what's your email .....

right, off now, "see" you later .....

OP posts:
DutchOma · 18/07/2007 16:00

Actually, I don't have as many e.mail address as I thought I had. Am a little reluctant to put it on here even in the form you usually do since it includes my whole name and surname. Hope that's ok?

Notquitegrownup · 18/07/2007 16:23

Hi all

Will certainly send a card and donation to someone (Mufti??) unless you think it would be more fun if we all wrote a message on a small piece of paper, and Mufti stuck them all into one big card to send on. I always love reading big multi cards - and then they won't blow over, everytime the nurse walks by too!

How funny, I was going to email you today Mufti, to say how lovely my flowers are looking. It was a lovely idea. Thank you again.

Have you phoned Sooz yet CD? Praying for her and for you all.

xx

DutchOma · 18/07/2007 16:48

xpost NQGU. I'm waiting for Dumbledoresgirls to send me her postal address and then we can all send a card to her.

Unless Mufti wants to do it? I don't mind one way or the other

DutchOma · 18/07/2007 18:14

Just to let you know I'll be out tonight:- posh restaurant as a treat from dh's work as a retirement celebration.
Will have a look before bedtime.

DumbledoresGirl · 18/07/2007 18:36

Have emailed you DutchOma. Sorry for the delay - had the children to deal with!

mufti · 18/07/2007 18:41

i have sent a card via dg , just from me
and can pass the address on to anyone who emails me, as i said
it would be nice to do something from us all too, not sure of the best way to do it, any ideas, dutch oma?, are you happy to collect?
good news re date mary

DutchOma · 18/07/2007 23:22

I also now have DG's address and have sent it to those whose e.mail address I have. I will send my own card tomorrow with an envelope for her to put the cards in to send on to NASWM. I'm not quite sure how to organise the flowers, but we will get round to it. If you want to contribute let me know and I will put your name on the card. In that way the flowers will be from all of us. Hope that's ok?

Good night and God bless you all

katz · 19/07/2007 09:15

praying for naswm

i'd like to contribute towards some flowers but have got a bit confused as to who to email - could someone clarify?

DumbledoresGirl · 19/07/2007 09:38

If you want to send me a card for Naswm Katz, that is what others are doing. I will hold on to any cards I get until say next Weds/Thurs and then send them altogether. You can get my address by emailing me

[email protected]

I don't know exactly what to do about the flowers. I am sorry but I will not disclose the hospital as Naswm does not want it known. If it were me, I would be fine about it but I have to respect her wishes, especially as she is so fragile right now. DutchOma and I are in negotiations about the flowers by email!

DumbledoresGirl · 19/07/2007 09:39

Oh and I meant to say once again thank you for your prayers and thoughts for Naswm. She is deeply touched I know.

Off to text her now.

Notquitegrownup · 19/07/2007 11:21

I will get a card off to you DG, and some money for flowers to DO. Would it make sense for DO to forward the flower money to you, so that you can order them?

DumbledoresGirl · 19/07/2007 11:30

I am happy to do that but I appreciate that you don't know me, I could be anyone for all you know, and you might not want to trust me.

DutchOma · 19/07/2007 12:02

After 'talking' with DG we have decided to send both cards and 'flower money' by cheque to her and she will deal with it to preserve NASWM's anonimity. A number of us have DG's postal address and you could e.mail any of us to get it. Hope that is ok

CaptainDippy · 19/07/2007 12:05

Have sent cheque to DG & will send card later on when I have given it's content a little more thought.

So just to clarify ....

Cards & "Flower Money" both to be send to DG - email a little further down on the thread ......

We'll get there in the end!!

'Phoned Sooz twice yesterday - engaged once and no reply 2nd time, will lety ou know when I get through!!

DumbledoresGirl · 19/07/2007 12:13

Thanks guys. Just had a text from Naswm in which she said she couldn't handle talking today and she was very much on a downward turn so your thoughts for her are very much appreciated and your prayers still very much needed.

iloverunning · 19/07/2007 12:57

Hi all,

I am a real life friend of naswm and just wanted to let you know that I will be visiting her tomorrow and will pass on all your best wishes to her. My husband and I are good friends with naswm's and our children are all best friends. I shall being seeing her Dh and DS's later today and offering whatever support they need over the coming weeks.

I just wanted to post this so that you know she and her family are not abandoned and have people around them supporting and praying for them. I know she would be so touched by all the kind words of support on here.

Thanks
Iloverunning x

DutchOma · 19/07/2007 13:09

Oh bless you ILR. What a relief. I was wondering what would happen when DG went on holiday. So pleased to know that you will be seeing her and passing on our love. Can you tell us how her dh and dc are? And pass our best wishes on to them as well in this very difficult time.

Thanks once again

Roseylea · 19/07/2007 14:23

Hi all,

I am praying for all esp. naswm. May God hold her so gently and bring healing.

Well...my meeting with the SENCO was amazing!!! Before I saw her I spent a bit of time on the Nat Eczema Scociety website and found some great stuff - a "Guidelines for Teachers" document and an activity pack to use in classrooms to help talk about eczema. I also wrote a summary sheet which I used in the meeting as an agenda and also gave to the SENCO as a kind of "minutes"....and I got everything I asked for! At last!!!!

So the arrangement is that at the start of Sept I will train two non-teaching members of staff (either teaching assistants or dinner ladies) how dd should be creaming herself, so that they can watch her and give "constructive advice" ("don't forget your legs!" - that kind of thing!).

She is also going to have a written health care plan which will put her in the system for Home and Hospital Education, so that if she ends up needing a fair amount of time off school or has to go into hospital, the school will just notify the righ tpeople and she will be given a tutor to come and teach her either at home or in hospital.

And the final thing is that through SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) dd will be given a kind of in-school mentor who will meet with her reguarly to chat about the eczema and how she's feeling about it, and to help her come to terms with it.

So....that's great, isn't it? A huge improvement on this year. I am very pleased!

I was chatting informally with the headteacher last night and she said "Of course we'll do everything we can for dd" - which was lovely. She also asked me, repeatedly, if I'd go in next term and do a christian assembly for the kids...yikes! (Of course I said yes!)

I need to give up work so that I can do all this ministry that I'm being offered....but maybe my work is another form of ministry...who knows? And we need the money...

God bless xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

bobsmum · 19/07/2007 14:29

Roseylea - that all sounds fab! Your dd must be turning 5 soon - how time flies¡

Have you thought any more about doing the Christian schools work on a more permanent basis? Don't know if the organisation you and I know is still looking for a team leader/member but it would be worth pursuing I think.

You'd get "paid"-ish for taking the assemblies! Minimum wage admittedly and maybe not even a full week's worth, but enough to cover costs and allow you to be where you need to be. If that's what God's leading you to of course. It would definitely fit in with your ministry stuff too.

CaptainDippy · 19/07/2007 21:50

Absolutely delighted for you & for DD, Rosey - Doing a little dance in my seat! Great stuff about the Christian assembly opportunity too. Super.

Thank you for posting ILR - good to know. NASWM is very much in our thoughts & prayers right now. xx

Need to go to bed, am v.tired .....
