Hope you had a good first day Aroom and Hills

All battened down here - we're under a weather warning for high wind for tonight and Wednesday. Fingers crossed the broadband survives - last time we went down for 3 weeks.....

Bellecose2 · 17/09/2018 20:48

Hope things don't get too bad where you are Elphame.

I'm in a reflective mood. Had a bit of an emotional battering which has taken its toil. I pulled 3 tarot cards and the 1st referred to difficult people, the 2nd advised not to take peoples judgements so harshly and the 3rd, that I'm on the right path and keep going.

Helped me a lot.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 17/09/2018 22:52

Stay cosy Elphame and I hope your wireless holds out!

Bellacose I’m glad cards have helped and hope you’re soon through the struggle.

Hope everybody else is ok.

Elphame · 17/09/2018 23:04

Well no wind yet!

As a result of these threads I’m now tempted to dust off my own tarot cards again. I have no great talent for tarot though, I am a very mechanical reader.

TooManyPaws · 17/09/2018 23:23

It's been warm and windy all evening here, Elphame, and I'm not talking about myself or the dogs! 😂

LotusInspired · 17/09/2018 23:56

Yay!!! A new thread Smile

IamEarthymama · 18/09/2018 00:11

I have so much going on I'm my life at the moment, however, I try to keep a flow of energy going through my life.
When things calm down I hope I can contribute more often.
Thank you for these threads, it's wonderful to be part of the web we weave.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 18/09/2018 06:40

Glad you found your cards helpful, Bellecose. Smile

It’s very windy here - been awake since 4:30! Heading into my favourite season though.

Hope it’s not too windy with you, Elphame.

speakout · 18/09/2018 07:18

Morning- everyone,

I woke really really early this morning, just a light warm wind.

I went out to give one of my sycamores a cuddle, feeling a bit low as DD is now in University accommodation- I miss her energy in the house.

Although the sky at dawn was heavy with dark clouds, the quality of light was such an intense dark bitter orange colour, almost like a martian landscape.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 18/09/2018 07:36

Morning all. Very windy here too, was awake at 5am

speakout that must be strange and hard for you. Any plans to see her soon?

speakout · 18/09/2018 07:43

ThatsNotEvenAWord

Thanks, not sure when I will see her next, I shouldn't complain, she is living 20 minutes away, she will phone today, I can easily nip out and give her a quick cuddle, but she needs space to spread her wings without being cramped.
It's a symbolic thing I guess.

Tuesday is often a slightly down day for me.

HillsBesideTheSea · 18/09/2018 09:12

The weather is weird here. The other day the air smelt wrong. Really wrong. We are about as far inland as you can get but it smelt of fish and the sea and it wasn't localised. Even the boy noticed it and he notices little when engaged with music and a book.

I hope Tuesday treats you kindly Speakout

My first day was interesting. I am hoping one of you wise people have the answer to a question that I can't find the answer to. Bramble vinegar, is it best to leave it to mature after making before using or can it be used straight away when cooled? Ds has the back to school lurgy and needs all the help he get when he can't access a lot of over the counter meds due to allergies/reactions. I already have a stockpile of glycerine based jelly to make up to be drunk warm. Hoping the vinegar will stave off the bark he seems to be developing.

Bellecose2 · 18/09/2018 09:16

@"speakout... Transitions can be painful at first but your relationship with your daughter sounds a close and loving one. I hope you can draw comfort from that you as you move into this new stage of life.

As for my own transformation into the craft, I find I'm enjoying doing very small, unceremonious spells. No thinking involved. Sensing energy as soon as I begin, but not overwhelming and apart from the first time, not emotional. I like the simplicity. No fuss, drama, just crafting. Is that similar to your own practises?

Elphame · 18/09/2018 10:20

Hills - yes use the vinegar now if he needs it. It'll be a bit raw tasting but the properties are there

The wind has arrived and the rain is travelling horizontally. The trip to the beach this morning will be fun.....

@Bellecose2 - sounds like things are going very well!

@speakout - it is very odd for the first few weeks when they go isn't it. Still it's time for them to spread their wings and university terms are short. I always missed mine for the first few days at the start of every term. DS came back to live with us after he graduated but DD moved into a shared house nearby with friends once she graduated but she was older as she did an advanced degree too.

speakout · 18/09/2018 10:32

Thanks everyone.

You are right. I have been out shopping and feel a little better
The house seems so warm and stuffy and humid with this balmy weather, I have thrown open the windows and get some incense to burn.

OP posts:
speakout · 18/09/2018 10:38

Elphame, unfortunately DD has long terms, it's a 50 week tenancy on her property, only 2 weeks holiday in summer.

Hello, Lovelies! So happy to have found you. Been catching up on thread. Loving all the pictures of the stones and trees.

I’m struggling with the concept of moving into cronehood. My last child is only eleven, so feel very much in touch with my Mothering side. My age and experience suggests I should be stepping into Crone. I’m wondering if it’s possible to be both? I’m really not finding the transition to Crone to be easy.

Wishing everyone a bright day....

Giggorata · 18/09/2018 11:01

Hi again, witchy ones,
I get “the crackle” too, only I didn't call it that until now! Thanks for a great name, PawneeParksDept.
And, like you speakout, also in the Autumn. For me it is that new school year feeling, combining anticipation and expectation with a feeling of building on accomplishment, your harvest, if you will.
I also have a similar thing going on in the air when magic is afoot, especially in the woods, which I call “the fizz” but there are often visible swirls and pops as well. Daft old bat, I know 🧙‍♀️

Violet, this thread is encouraging me to get back to my Tarot!
I used to read locally, but that was ages ago, and I would like to return to it. I have a collection of decks, because I am such a bloody hoarder and can't resist the beautiful art.
My current favourites are the Golden Universal and the Beautiful Prisma Visions, which I backed on Kickstarter. Some of the affordable, more pagan oriented ones, are the DruidCraft, Robin Wood And Tarot of the Old Path. Some of the rarer ones... well. 😯

SecretWitch · 18/09/2018 11:08

@speakout, sending you thoughts of support and peace. My son chose to move to a place that is a six hour plane trip away from me. The house echoed with emptiness for a long while. I was thrilled with his bid for independence yet very much missing his physical presence in my life. The letting go is so hard on the heart....

VioletCharlotte · 18/09/2018 11:31

Hello everyone. It's very windy where I am too, it's feeling quite autumnal today. I love this time of year, I'm getting the urge to batch cook and male the house warm and cosy. Preparing to hibernate!

Speakout it's hard isn't it when your children move on to the next stage? My DS has chosen to live at home and commute to university this year , so I've not experienced this yet, but a number of my friends are having similar feelings to you. Take care of yourself and try and use the extra time you've got on your hand for self care and doing things you love.

BlankTimes · 18/09/2018 11:55

Hills can't help with the bramble vinegar Q, sorry. Different allergies to cater for here, both those ingredients would be a no.

To boost the immune system, have you tried Vogels Echinaforce Echinacea tincture?
www.bodykind.com/product/4128-a-vogel-echinaforce-echinacea-tincture-100ml.aspx

I wouldn't recommend taking anything long-term for a healthy immune system, but I use the above tincture either at the first sign of feeling run-down or at the very first sign of a cold starting and in both instances take the full dose for 3 days.

Whilst I'm here, I've a quick easy plain and simple recipe for anyone wanting to have a go at something. Lip balm or use for sore skin, use organic ingredients if you can get them.
1 part good quality beeswax melted in a pyrex measuring jug so you can see how much liquid you have.

Add 2 to three times that liquid measurement of ex virg olive oil, let that liquefy.
Add the contents of 1 or 2 Vitamin E capsules.
Pour into sterilised glass pots.
Allow to cool and you're done.

This literally makes itself on the aga, stand the pyrex jug on a bit of kitchen roll so it doesn't scratch the enamel top and let things melt in their own time. To do it on a hob, stand the pyrex jug in a pan with some very hot water. Stir in good intentions.

Hi all, today has been OK, talked to DD, so feeling a bit better.

SecretWitch The term "echoes of emptiness" is so accurate.

My son went to NZ for a year after school, I missed him terribly, and would walk into his empty bedroom sometimes- I could still sense and small him.

I think the transition from motherhood to crone is a gradual one, I feel I am still transitioning, and it has so far taken 8 years.
Perhaps the gradual nature of it makes it easier to let go.

The transition from Maiden to Mother is very sudden, and can be traumatic, I know I felt shell shocked with that one.

I quite like having a foot in both camps- and I don't think the influence of Mother will ever leave me.
I am finding becoming a crone very energising, a time to invest in myself again- motherhood is a self sacrificing thing, and it's nice to get in touch with my own roots again.

Well the beach was fun. I'm very much tuned to the earth as my core element. Air and Water are my least favourite so I do make a point of working with them for that reason alone and I got plenty of both today!

Actually it was lovely. It was blowing a gale and a half on Anglesey but the sun was out and the huge sandy beach deserted. Perfect. Lots more pebbles to add to the collection ( well earth to the core me!) and some nice pictures and videos to promote the cottage.

Sadly got home to find that the water has its revenge - there is a burst water main and water we have none! I'll have to raid the spring in the garden if I want a cup of tea but at the moment I'm making do with wine.....

speakout · 18/09/2018 20:00

Elphame

Sounds like a great day.

We have a storm brewing here, torrential rain, it got dark very early, tomorrow morning will be wild.

Not a night for flying unless you are fearless!
