Did that card help?

speakout, it could be because the energies of those decks don’t resonate with you. I had two decks which had a similar effect on me which were both based on strong traditions which aren’t mine. Enochian angels was one of them. Every time I used it, I just felt unsettled and a bit creeped out. I got rid of it in the end.

Are your decks strongly tied to a particular tradition or gods/angels?

speakout · 16/09/2018 16:52

boldlygoingsomewhere

Thanks, the decks are Crowley Thoth and an ancient Italian deck given given to me by family years ago- no markings to identify.

Both have given huge insights in years past, but I don't feel comfortable with them now. It feels wrong to rid them however.
Any feelings on this?

If they have some sentimental value to you, try cleansing them first. If you used them at an emotionally fraught time, they may still hold some of that ‘charge’. If they still don’t feel quite right after, pack them away for now.

I don’t know what cleansing tools you usually use but be careful with essential oils as these will mark the cards. A couple of passes through smoke or moonlight bathing works well.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 16/09/2018 17:03

I think so. I was wondering how to deal with a problem (a dispute between DH and me) and I’m taking it as a ‘it will all work out’ sign?

BelladonnaKebab · 16/09/2018 18:04

I'm so glad I've found you all! Thank you for another wonderful thread @speakout

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. We have been cooking up a storm making gingerbread and elderberry winter syrup from the elderberries we collected. My house smells delicious and I keep thinking about our toasty aga, bringing so many of us warmth and wisdom.

VioletCharlotte · 16/09/2018 18:59

Interesting comments about tarot. I dabble in tarot and have had the cosmic tarot set for a couple of years. The energy is so strong I find it a bit overwhelming and I'm actually a bit scared of them, which sounds silly I know. I've stuck with them, but I think I may try a different pack. Boldly and Speakout are you able to advise on how to choose a pack that's right for you?

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 16/09/2018 19:06

Evening all

I’m really enjoying tonight’s chatter. Could I ask you @boldlygoing how you became interested in Tarot ?

BlankTimes · 16/09/2018 19:30

I've just had a long reply zap off into the ether, so this is a very short version. Welcome to everyone new and to everyone returning, it's good to see you all.

Speakout Thank-you for your kind words Halloween Blush Halloween Grin
I've just been around a long time.
Most people that are starting out seem to want to do something really complicated and rush into the unfamiliar - to them - territory of ritual or divination to resolve a problem whereas most of the time all it needs is a very simple solution. If anyone wants an answer to a yes/no question and can't decide, then what's best to do, something complicated involving a system that you aren't familiar with, or toss a coin.

Yashmis with your phrase "I see it as a life long path of growth and development"
You have understood! That's exactly what it is, no more and no less.

kizzy thank-you for the resilience info, it's good. I'm also open to any earth energy flows if anyone practises with those? Maybe it's a bit passé nowadays.

Trying to attach an image is what made my text disappear last time, so I'll just post without one!

queenrollo · 16/09/2018 19:43

This popped up somewhere the other day and I thought the sentiment would sit well here.

Had to go out earlier for everyday household supplies and found this lovely book half price in the shop! Just what I need at the moment. 😊

Gee that's meant for you.

When I first got interested in oils, I had this www.bookdepository.com/Fragrant-Pharmacy-Valerie-Ann-Worwood/9780553403978
literally fall off the shelf into my hands.

Bellecose2 · 16/09/2018 19:56

@Blanktimes... You speak such common sense. One of my 'spells' was for calm because I needed to be around a challenging person. I had zero focus, was so imprecise I ended up asking for world peace. Blush

boldlygoingsomewhere · 16/09/2018 19:57

Violet, I would recommend choosing a deck with art you like and which resonates with you. Aeclectic Tarot has images of most decks and you can search by theme. Albideuter also has scans of many decks. If at all possible, try to see the deck you like in person. If you’re near London, Watkins always has open boxes of the decks they sell so you can flick through them first.

Lots of people aren’t too keen on the art of the traditional decks. Currently popular in tarot groups I’m in are ones like Shadowscapes, Everyday Witch and Green Witch.

Geelnever, I was bought my first deck at 15 by a friend who knew I liked ‘woo’. I really didn’t like the deck though and it stayed shut in a box! Three years later I was looking in a local New Age shop where I saw The Ancestral Path for sale. I loved the art and the theme and it became my happy companion for two years. I then bought the Thoth because I was intrigued by the card shown on the box. These two were my main decks for many years.

I then joined a tarot forum which was full of collectors and it started a bit of a collecting mania. Grin
The intensity of my time with my decks has waxed and waned but never disappeared. I love the fact that there are so many avenues to explore with them - some amazing and rich western philosophical traditions are referenced in them. I can never get bored.

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 16/09/2018 20:00

@Blank Times it was very strange. It was the only copy in that section as I passed down the aisle on the way to frozen stuff. Seemed to have been left there - however I knew enough from this thread that things fall into your hands when you need them and when they are least expected!

Sitting down for a lovely read. 😊

MintCakeMavis · 16/09/2018 20:19

Hi, I’ve been lurking since the first thread but think now’s the time to join in.

I’ve just looked out of the window to see the darkening sky, a bank of clouds rolling over the fells and Mars rising. I can’t help but feel connected to the amazing world in which we live.

I’ll say no more now but continue to listen to the wisdom and hopefully learn more to help me on my path.

VioletCharlotte · 16/09/2018 20:39

Thanks boldly that's really helpful. I'll do some research online first, then pay a visit to Watkins next time I go to London.

FitzsFool · 16/09/2018 20:41

Wow. Just wow. Just popping in to see how the discussions are going and the depth of knowledge and the willingness to support each other just saturates this thread and makes me feel quite giddy! I need to reread more slowly to take it all in.

Yashmi (Zaphod) it really sounds like something’s coming together for you. I always hear your voice quite strongly, I’d have to reread all of the previous threads to try and work out why, because so many posters here have said things I’ve really resonated with. It was good to read your journey.

queenrollo love that quote you shared. Sometimes you can just smell ‘the beyondness of things’ on the wind.

Someone mentioned the Scottish Highlands. They are my favourite place. For no real substantial reason other than it feels right when I am there. LIke when you pluck a string on an instrument and hum at the same frequency and feel this buzz of alignment that thrums through your jaw. But much, quieter, much softer than that. Not so much a buzz as a gentle envelopment, a sense of being welcomed softly by the landscape. A mutual yielding.

Apologies for the grandoise rambling. Part Aquavit Schnapps, part the energy in this thread that yanks all this verbal diarrhoea out of my head. I’m much more wry, cynical and reserved (repressed) in ‘real’ life. You lovely lot just syphon it out somehow. Smile

FilledSoda · 16/09/2018 21:31

Fitzsfool, it's just great to speak freely here, no judgement, no misunderstandings, this is the only place I can say that about.

YashmisCrone · 16/09/2018 21:44

Thank you Fitz I so appreciate that reflection, it really is wonderful to hear Smile Please don't apologise for your posts- you have such a beautiful way with words, I love reading them.

Hello Mavis 👋 It's great that you've joined us. Look forward to sharing and learning with you.

Gee How wonderful that that book found you- I love it when that happens!

queenrollo 'for a moment you feel ancient, powerful and lonely' That's just beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us

Belladonna your kitchen sounds like a wonderful place to be today! Glad you found us here around the aga Smile

ThatsNot I'd take The Sun as a good sign of a positive outcome if you've been in dispute- kind of like 'what we've got is bigger and brighter than what's going on right now'- that's the vibe I get fwiw

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 16/09/2018 21:47

YashmisCrone thank you for that, it really helps.

Gee that book was definitely meant to find you!

Agree with the others fitz we love reading what you have to say

PawneeParksDept · 17/09/2018 01:33

Hi Ladies, found you! Smile

I wonder if I could share/ask about something that would probably make sense to people here but not people in general

I can feel something "in the air" like a crackle an anticipation

The potential for change in lots of areas and it feels like something or lots of things are about to happen. Usually when I get this feeling it's foreboding, something is about to go down but not this time. This time it's like I'm at the end of a game and I'm a few points from winning, like the decks are being cleared.

Things I'd earmarked as "problems" and also thought "well ideally" about the potential solution "ideally" seems to be occurring without any effort from me

Question : do I need to do anything to positively influence this sensation or do I allow it to ebb and flow without interference if the former what sort of thing would you do ?

And does anyone have any experience of what I mean ?

HillsBesideTheSea · 17/09/2018 07:31

I just wanted to say thank you for all the really helpful and useful advice. There is a lot to take in and process so forgive me if I am quiet /disappear a bit. Not helped by the fact that I start something today that will bring major changes to my life.

I agree about the avoiding jumping in with the most complicated things as a first step. Why would you try to cook a full 8 course meal when you only knew how to make toast and just learning to cook? The suggestions I have had make a lot of sense. Whilst I process and think I am focusing on some self care (allowing myself to put my needs at the right priority rather than others first all the time) and starting to practise my visualisation regularly again.

Again thank you very much for your help, wise words and points in the right direction. It truly is most appreciated.

speakout · 17/09/2018 07:57

PawneeParksDept

I feel like that a lot of the time, on my vibrant days, and especially in the autumn.

I tend to go with the flow, indulge in creative projects and enjoy the feeling.
