hi. the drawings are so accurate and they match exactly what the news, papers ect. have told us. I hope she is ok and gets back to her parents safely.

UnquietDad · 16/05/2007 16:54

I think it's a load of nonsense.
You did ask.

SaintGeorge · 16/05/2007 17:25

Where is the proof that the drawings were done before the event?

southeastastra · 16/05/2007 17:30

and IF these people were so accurate the police would ask them first. a load of baloney imo

fransmom · 16/05/2007 22:38

All psychics are either con artists, nutters, or well-meaning idiots. DOn't know (or care) which bracket this one falls into.

SaintGeorge · 16/05/2007 23:18

All people with z at the end of their name are either con artists, nutters, or well-meaning idiots. DOn't know (or care) which bracket this one falls into.

southeastastra · 17/05/2007 08:12

yes wouldn't say 'all' stg!

what is brian's surname? can't find it on his site.

SaintGeorge · 17/05/2007 09:08

Simply generalising in the same way madamez did.

UnquietDad · 17/05/2007 09:30

If there were such things as "psychics" then the laws of science as we know then would be re-written.

Okay, so you wwnt to entertain the possibility that this guy may have "powers", but ask yourself this. When your child presents you with a broken cup and says "it broke by itself", do you assume that a) yes, the laws of the Universe temporarily suspended themselves and that piece of pottery chose to fragment spontaneously, b) person or persons unknown broke into your house for the putpose of maliciously dismantling drinking implements, or c) your child did it and is trying to cover his arse?

That's Occam's Razor. Don't unnecessarily over-complicate.

Which is MORE likely? That this guy possesses some hitherto unknown, unproveable and untestable "gift", or that he's simply a very clever charlatan? You only need to watch Derren Brown once to see how easy it is to fake these "gifts".

You can bet your bottom dollar he'd not agree to do the James Randi Paranormal Challenge , and that if he did he would fail it. Everyone else has failed it so far.

melsy · 17/05/2007 09:40

I bet sally morgan would pass it!

SaintGeorge · 17/05/2007 09:43

Would she hell as like.

melsy · 17/05/2007 09:48

err oh ok !

SaintGeorge · 17/05/2007 09:51

Sorry melsy but I have watched Sally and I can see her falling for the old Doris Stokes effect as much as any other TV medium.

You know I am a believer, but I have little faith in the majority of TV/media psychics in general. I think they go against the whole ethos of the gift.

Aloha · 17/05/2007 09:52

UD has said everything I want to say.

melsy · 17/05/2007 09:56

I know what you mean , but I dont think a physchic having a penchant for celebrity is any less of a physchic. Look at John Edwards. Just spirits that feel there calling is that way .They can bring the abilities (that we all have, theyve just awoken to them) to a wider and more accpeted audience. Otherwise it does all stay cloak and dagger, esctoteric, mysiterious & secret to others.

UnquietDad · 17/05/2007 10:01

I've not seen Sally Morgan but I don't imagine she does anything that is unable to be explained by a careful observer.

melsy · 17/05/2007 10:04

my dh has the same thoughts as you on the subject UD, I dont think we will ever meet in the middle on our ways with this side of life !hey ho !

melsy · 17/05/2007 10:06

sorry awful spelling , been up most of the night

SaintGeorge · 17/05/2007 10:07

No, but they have a need to 'perform'. Since the choice of communication is not theirs, I think using their gift in such a way arrogant and wrong.

Seeing them on TV is no proof at all, what with nifty editing and all that.

UnquietDad · 17/05/2007 10:08

Sally Morgan is very welcome to have a go at the JREF challenge. I mean, surely no "psychic" has anything to lose? Think of the opportunity to have all that publiicity, and to have their work endorsed by a sceptic. If they don't want to take the money they can give it to charity.

But of course they won't do it, because they are all bloody fakes and scared of being shown up.

SaintGeorge · 17/05/2007 10:25

Wow, nice religious tolerance there UQD.

Not everyone feels the need for validation or publicity you know. I don't see any Catholics (purely for example) offering undeniable truth that miracles happen, but they still have massive faith in sainthoods.
