My dog is a terrible food thief so I am now on high alert for food when we are out. I just hope I see before she smells it! The list is:

Stole a young lads ham and cheese sandwich. To do this she flew in the air and whipped it out of his hand and ran off to gobble it up! The boy got a panini from me as an apology and for his lunch.

Large picnic. She clocked it before I came around the corner and saw them. She was off and stole a large baguette. My dog is kind of cocker spaniel size! She just ran around and around with this giant baguette! Luckily the picnic peeps were dog lovers and thought it was very funny.
Me not so much!

Middle of winter so generally a better time to walk with a food theif as most people don’t eat in the parks in winter. However she found a giant Cadbury chocolate bar, family sized, that she stole from a boys back pack while he was playing footie!!

My cat jumped on my bed, walked on to my chest, nested for a bit, then turned around and scent marked IN MY MOUTH.
I win.

My terrier was always a bit of a live wire, so we tended to walk him on our local beach at sunrise and sunset when it was quiet.
One particularly beautiful evening, as the sun was just about to set, we let him off his lead to expend a bit of energy.

Off he galloped, and for a moment he disappeared behind some dunes. This was followed by screams!
We ran like the clappers to see what god-awful thing had happened, and we were met with a scene of pure horror.
A man had obviously chosen this spot to make a romantic proposal to his partner.

There was a circle of roses that now contained a freshly laid 💩. To top it off, said dog was licking the cream off their strawberries and, to add insult to injury, ran off with a sandwich when I shouted for him to come.

I ran over and apologized profusely while my husband tried to grab Ivan the Terrible. As he did this, the demon dog came back to try and grab seconds.
Mortified doesn’t even come close! 😭

Although this one might top the list 🤣

I Had a cat many years ago who I used to laugh at as he “hunted” flowers. I’d seen him practice and he wasn’t very good at real hunting. He’d bring dropped flowers in the house and act very impressed with himself. It was cute.

The little sod then decided he’d had enough of flowers. Over the years:
-A whole family of nesting birds. Mum,dad and babies over several nights
-A pigeon. How he got it through the flap I don’t know.
-A mouse. When I shouted he looked at me, dropped it in the living room and strolled back out.
-Two bats. That was fun trying to catch. The first time I was away and my partner told
me he thought it was a bat. I thought he had mistaken it as what cat brings a bat in? Then he did it when I was there.
-A sparrow that he would not give me. Growling and snarling as he ran around the house with it.
-Started a life long vendetta with the local magpies. Every year when they had babies he’d have to dart out of the house as they’d chase him as he left/came in.

He was a character. He got hit by a car when he was a few years old. I do wonder what else he’d have bought in.

Went to the beach with pup who drank a bit of sea water while paddling. I had no idea about the potential side effects. Then went to queue at the beach cafe kiosk for ice cream. Dog suddenly had liquid diarrhoea with no warning. It came out horizontally under pressure and achieved a distance of a couple of feet. Covering the trousers of the person behind us in the queue. Was like a muck spreader at full blast!

I know I know but I can’t see how a cat killing lots of birds and bats is funny. Really, could you do nothing to stop him?

Everyone is going to be like ‘oh but cats are wild animals’, but they are bought and they are not domestic. They are decimating the local wildlife.

please keep them in at night, put a bell collar on them. Do anything to stop them killing wildlife. It’s not funny, it’s really grim and sad.

Cocker jumps into strangers cars

My very bad tempered feral cat Bluebell bit my lovely neighbour Sally and she ended up in hospital with sepsis.
I did tell her not to pet Bluebell because she was unpredictable but she would never listen.
I loved that cat but my arms are covered in scars from her. She lived to 21. This is her in her last year bless her.

What's the worst thing your pet has done?

I had a cat who brought a pig's trotter home and left it on the rug. I suspect my SchiTzu would have eaten it. Last Christmas day, she ate a glass, soviet era, ornament that had come all the way from northern Ukraine and four Hotel Chocolat chocolates, including the box. She suffered no after effects, after, on the emergency vet's instructions, we fed her half a baguette and some Cornish brie. Today, she ate my DH's hair after my DSD had cut it and before I could sweep it up. Hoping for the best since we only have cheddar in the fridge.

He didn’t kill the pigeon, mice or bats. The funny part was I had to spend ages trying to get those out of the house. And the suddenly escalation from flowers to animals.

I did try many collars. the shortest time he kept one on was three minutes. Over the fence then back in. Gone. I went looking for the collar but couldn’t find it.

He was kept in most nights but on a handful of occasions he didn’t come back until the morning.

Im not sure what you think I could have done to stop a cat? It’s not like a dog.

Bunniemalone · 12/09/2026 20:17

Our sadly missed huge DDog was out for a walk with DH, DDog did what we 'affectionately' called a triple bagger, he was a v big dog! Before DH could bend down DDog kicked it across the street it hit a parked car splatted all over the drivers door & window. DH knocked on lots of doors trying to locate the owner, to no luck, came home told me & I ran back round to put a note on the car to apologise & offer to pay for a car wash & the car had gone... God knows what they must have thought... This was about 10 years ago, still think about it every time we drive down the road.

Years ago we had 5 cats (same litter) they once all worked as a team, dragged the neighbours leg of lamb from their kitchen work top, through their open window and ate it in our garden! I
didn’t discover this until later when I was out in my front garden and overheard the neighbours swearing and asking where the leg of lamb for their Sunday roast had gone😂 I found the cats all hidden in a rosemary bush in the garden eating the leg of lamb.

Bobsterbunny · 12/09/2026 20:20

Daughter's tuxedo cat went round to the neighbours, ate their cats' food, got into their food waste bin and pooped in their bedroom 😳😳😳 They now have a microchip cat flap 🤨

malloryknox123 · 12/09/2026 20:21

My parrot landed on my head, then peered down at me and looked me straight in the eye before biting me tight between my eyebrows, hard. My DH had to unscrew him from me

We had a greyhound who we didn’t realise could make herself the thickness of a pencil , and managed to squeeze between the gate post and the wall of our drive. She then trotted across the road into my neigbours henhouse , seized my neighbours prize cockerel , which was as huge and black as she was , and had a vast amount of feathers and then dragged it across the road onto my other next door neighbours drive , and tried to wrestle it to the ground . The cockerel had NO intention of losing, and was putting up a good fight , which I heard . Looking over the fence , I see DDog grabbing it by the neck, trying to pin it to the ground , so I holler at her , and she spits out a load of feathers into the air, thus enabling said cockerel to fuck off across my neighbours field , whilst calling DDog all the names under the sun . We tried to coax him back , but to no avail .

In the meantime, my neighbour , is running up and down the road with her hands in the air going “ Maaaaarmite , that’s my Maaaaarmite “

Marmite was never seen again . I was mortified , and had to replace him . And DDog thought she was the dogs danglies .

Furrydogmum · 12/09/2026 20:28

My sausage bastard from hell (who I love with every fibre of my being) welcomed our roofer on his first day by running at him full pelt and launching herself higher than she's ever managed before, or since, and bit him, narrowly missing his testicles. He stayed outside the gates of the house for the duration of his work and was very nice about it once he'd established her rabies vaccine was up to date 🫣

Maybeshesbornwithitmaybeitssertraline · 12/09/2026 20:28

My cat waited until dh was away with work and then killed a rabbit and a pigeon. Ate half of both and then left the remains under the dining table. Yuck. Ds2 thought it was hilarious of course.

Bogstandardname · 12/09/2026 20:30

Just redecorated and refurbed bedroom at some expense. All cream carpet, curtains, bedding, the works. Didn't know the cat had hid under the bed. Shut the door and went to work. She shat runny poo and peed all over the bed, shredded the carpet by the door trying to dig her way out and ruined the curtains clawing at them. I did cry a bit.

Hotafternoon · 12/09/2026 20:32

One of my past cats, back in late 80s. Took him to the vets and he always sat in the back of the car, he quite liked being driven.

Put him on the back seat to drive less than ten minutes home. Terrible smell filled the car, really eye watering, we parked up, I opened car door and he shot out into the house via the cat flap and left me with a large steaming pile of very loose poo on the fabric back seat of my month old brand new car.

Cleaned it best I could but luckily my brother was in the car trade and got someone very quickly to come and steam clean the rear seat and get rid of the stench.

The cat lost her open-window privileges - that window is now firmly closed - and will never have a cat flap because she brought in a mouse that was in my study for three days, chewing and peeing/pooing on all of my favourite books, before I could catch it. This wasn't the first mouse she'd brought in, but it was the only one that did major damage, and it was the last straw. It took an entire weekend to clean the room and attempt to save at least some of the books - some of which I'd had since childhood, some had been my parents' or my late husband's, etc, and all were precious to me. The thing was, I was outside and saw the cat trotting for the house with the mouse in her mouth; I yelled and chased her as she sped up to make it to the house ahead of me, with that particular expression of a cat determined to do something it knows you don't want it to do... so now she has to wait outside in the rain until I happen to hear her meowing and take a moment to shine the torch - which I keep next to the door - on her to make sure she has nothing in her mouth! It's her own fault really...

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/09/2026 20:37

When we were living abroad, out dog rolled in a dead turtle on the beach. Please imagine the worst stinks of rotten meat and rotten fish combined.
It took me days to get the stink out of his fur. I even tried bathing him in Brut shampoo - bought specially for the purpose!
