How would a calculator be useful for reading and writing? Do children have calculators these days?

Have you never typed 5318008 into a calculator?!

That was as close as we got to online porn back in the day 😏

Everyone has looked now!

Bear for bare . Jewlery for jewellery. Said jew lury. Minimalistic for Minimalist . Marld for mild (said by the weather girl on GMB.) A pet hate is when people say they did something 'as a family '. Ie We ate dinner as a family ! Almost sounds as if they are pretending.

AlbieJiggered · 15/04/2026 18:17

And breath... Smile

AlbieJiggered · 16/04/2026 10:20

If you start a thread about someone famous, it is almost compulsory to misspell their name; e.g. Sue Pollard | Mumsnet.

"Such a shame they've let it go to wreck and ruin".

Probably already done to death, but I just saw bloody he'll yet again. How does it happen so often? Is it an autocorrect staple or something?

AlbieJiggered · 16/04/2026 22:21

Predictive text. People probably use he'll more often than hell (unless they are me).

Many of the things we complain about on here will be because of autocorrect or predictive text.

HelenaWilson · 16/04/2026 22:22

Autocorrect. Mine always changes ill to I'll. Just did it again here.

Well, how is AI is going to take over all our jobs when IT is this shit at stuff?

Freysimo · 17/04/2026 07:49

I just saw "eeking out" on another post regarding taking extra clothes on holiday. Hopefully it was a typo!

Just seen on another thread 'craycray ' I think the poster meant crazy. What fresh hell is this?

Was that poster me?

I have no shame.

I'm proud of my work.

ps, it is not a new usage by any means

DeanElderberry · 17/04/2026 10:19

The earliest known usage and definition of the term "cray cray" was published in the Online Slang Dictionary[1] on December 24th, 2001. That day, user Jeremy submitted the definition (shown below) "crazy, i.e. strange, insane, or wild."

”Chester drawers” instead of “chest of drawers” on Facebook furniture listings! Gives me enough rage to power the national fucking grid.

😂😂😂

AlbieJiggered · 17/04/2026 11:28

@Smurphy99 , what you need is a dinning table.

BrickBiscuit · 17/04/2026 07:44

Well, how is AI is going to take over all our jobs when IT is this shit at stuff?

"Language evolves" apparently, when people already consult AI in order to be the one to answer someone's question Confused, when potential politicians think reading, writing and arithmetic are unimportant in education and we already waste enough time trying to work out what is supposed to be being said (and posting here about it 😍), none of that will matter.

Sad

"Dinning" table is my current rage-inducer. (I really should leave the house more often).

AlbieJiggered · 18/04/2026 10:59

Dinning tables and chairs are popular, but you can also get filling cabinets and stationary cupboards. Regionally dependant, of course. Smile
Chester draws are not popular in the North West/North East Wales area. Wink
