Blame the editor/publisher😆 I’ve come across a few errors in novels over the years. And songs. I’m still disappointed with Kate Bush for the line ‘She couldn’t have made a worst move’ in Babooshka.

I was watching a TV show last night and a police officer said they'd been a burglery...god it annoyed me!

I am vaguely disappointed that there wasn't really 'actil' as well. However I suppose relief is more appropriate that both firsts hadn't actually occurred.

In typing this, I had to look up and check the spelling of two words - you can probably guess which - despite using them habitually.

You're right. If it wasn't for autocorrect (in turn often corrected by me when it gets context wrong) and the dictionary, my spelling would be acially terrible.

has just said that reading, writing, and arithmetic is not something she subscribes to in education, because modern kids have calculators. This has understandably caused consternation in the audience.

How would a calculator be useful for reading and writing? Do children have calculators these days?

You still have to know how to do the sum,
ie know the order of buttons to press.
