octo: Does the MonkeyFoot lady have a website other than the Etsy one with just wetbags? I was trying to find it last night but only saw lots of wetbags and other similar waterproof stuff! I guess importing some metres of fabric from USA might work out cheaper. But it seems that all these nice designer fabrics would make a dress rather expensive. You need roughly 1 metre (at least for the size 4) and you'd be looking at around 9-10 quid just for the fabric alone (if making it entirely from say the Alex Henry/Mich Miller stuff). So once you've figured in a few pennies for time, buttons, etc, it would have to be rather more than the price I had in mind for an relatively inexpensive dress. But I'm sure there are some people who'd be prepared to pay more for a dress from those fabrics, so maybe later down the line I might try a few!

myjob....as my first knit for someone other than myself, they were a labour of love AH fabrics,

I love love love Alexander Henry fabrics!!! For a fabulous WAHM, using Alexander Henry fabrics, check out pinkyminky.com (she is a MNer too). I have the juicy jungle fishy blanket with blue minky fleece for bumble and also a gorgeous flowery one (called juicy blooms) with lilac fleece for DD. The little toys are just lovely. Fantastic new baby pressies!!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 31/12/2009 00:13

rach, I have some AH juicy jungle fabric (but with a pale blue background) that is gathering dust....tis yours if you want it!

I think I bought four fat quarters worth??? Am guessing that is a square yard?

I started using cloth 8 years 2 months and 5 days ago. We started with Motherease Sandys and Tots Bots cotton aplix.

The Pumpkin pants Flongies I have in stock in Large are exactly the same width across the back as the soakers in Large.

Have been out tonight to a pre_new Years Eve party and now feel all buzzy and wide awake. Could have stayed for ever but felt I ought to get back for the babysitter.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 31/12/2009 09:20

daisy: Yes, if that's 4 fat quarters together, then that should be plenty enough for a dress, I think! And I did say I'd consider making a size 3 for you to test the sizing on, right? (I've not yet done any of that size) .... any chance you'd like a dress made out of that? I'd be very happy to make you a dress out of your fabric if you'd like! Of course, you may not want a dress from it - but if so, let me know!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 31/12/2009 09:22

meant to say, there'd be no charge for the above, since I had planned to do you a tester dress in the size 3 anyway!

octothechildherder · 31/12/2009 09:29

There are new fabrics coming out soon for all those designers. Monkeyfoot lady has her .com website and a blog one which links into the sew alongs and patterns etc - she sells fabric aswell daisy. The pumkpin pants lady makes clothing on etsy - really cute rompers - they come iin those kinds of fabrics and are about $28 - so around £18 which to me seems alot for a small outfit - but the pillow case dress designs you see alot on etsy are popular and much cheaper/quicker to make.

Off to Warwick Races today and then lots of folk back here tonight - need to get arse in gear very quickly!!!

Happy new year - cheers!!!!

Resolutions:

  1. Lose weight - I want to be a size 12/14 for dd3's wedding in September.

  2. Declutter the whole house!

  3. Stop using the car to pick up ds from school

  4. Get a full night's sleep this year [hopeful]

  5. Keep in touch more regularly with family members - fed up of only meeting up at funerals and one less being there every time
