Rachel - I have made taht dress before. Three chritmases agao I made one for all my godchildren - aged 8 to 1 so I made up some bigger patterns - it was really easy to do. I'll have a look and see if I've still got the adapted patterns. I used a deep deep purple velvet type material, put a small pocket on the front chest and then sewed a purple and silver beaded applique badge on the pocket - they looked really good. One set of god-daughters, 3 in total, wore their dresses to a wedding.

Scotia · 30/12/2009 10:25

Octo, K is wearing the flongies this morning I've just turned them up a couple of times so they will last him longer. Now dh says I have to choose another pair because I have saved on the postage, lol.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 30/12/2009 10:46

nappyshed: the dresses you made sound lovely! Yes, velvet type material would make nice ones for winter! Wish I lived closer to good fabric stores though - I like to see/feel fabrics in real life, but there's not much up this far north, and all very pricey. But I do get remmants and other "one-offs" at various places, so I guess it means a better variety!

scotia - will email you.

NappyShedSal · 30/12/2009 11:01

Scotia - I have medium Flongies in monkey jungle design if you're interested.

Scotia · 30/12/2009 11:34

Octo I've replied.

Sal, thanks but I think they might be too tight at the hips if I go for a medium. I think I'm just going to take a hem up on his large ones and maybe get another pair in a different pattern

Am very of all this fluffy post [and fashion post ] It all sounds lovely

Have been to chiro, feels like 10 rounds with Tyson. I left it tooooo long.

Bummer about the lack of choice in fabric, I stil think getting old clothes from charity shops would be a good plan. Look at the upcycled longies at nappywardrobe!! Then your frocks would be vintage If you found a good quality new duvet you would get loads of dressed from it, and some clothes from the good old days would give you some cracking prints to work with, in ltd editions dontchaknow.
Or you could offer a service where people send you their fabric, something that they think will match a much loved nappy, or perhaps from clothes they had as a child. Or just fabric they like. Bespoke couture!

Im thinking of ordering some material from the CNT co-op and having a go at flongies etc.....watch this space, need to source a machine first and moneys tight for the minute

swampster · 30/12/2009 17:03

Tree, I have just been to the post office and sent you a little something and some horrible gorgeous fluffy bedsocks with revolting cute little bears on that I got from MIL for Christmas. I don't do pastels and figured seeing as how you liked those nappy tattoos patches they might not make you want to hurl. And warm feet are an added bonus.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 30/12/2009 17:25

Thank you! I think You are a lovely pastel kind thing. Thank you very much. x

swampster · 30/12/2009 17:35

...

bagpuss · 30/12/2009 18:30

Ooh, I want some fluffy post .

What is the general consensus of opinion on coolababys, cushie tushies, pop n gros and tots easyfits? I think I am going to get a couple more dream dri but feel the need to try something else too .

Octo, yes tis all very exciting, double the fluff and all that but sadly that also means double the cost .

swampster · 30/12/2009 18:46

Coolababys are cheap and cheerful and do the job from what I've heard.

Cushie Tushies, one of my gurus described it as 'a ridiculous nappy' so I haven't bothered trying one.

Pop N Gros look even more plasticky than BumGenius and have horrible gussets (I hate gussety nappies!!!). I use BGs regularly, find them utterly reliable but utterly unloveable. Gro Baby nappies look gorgeous though.

Tots Easyfits, I like, Blueberries I like, Berry Plushes are cute but not found them 100% reliable.

But I love love love Ittis and I know I would love Weenotions AIOs and AI2s but have resisted thus far and I don't think I can justify ever buying another nappy as I have far too many. Maybe some larger night time fluff later...

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 30/12/2009 18:54

I found PopnGros leaky.

I'm falling back in love with blueberry sidesnaps at the moment.

What do you use at night bagpus?

NappyShedSal · 30/12/2009 18:56

Swampster - I have to disagrreeeeee!

Pop'n'Gros have become one of my favourite nappies. They are just as soft as BG, but a bit bulkier. I love the gusset as it helps keep in explosive poos far better than ungussetted nappies. But they are super soft nappies.

Fuzzi Bunz were always my nappy of choice, but if I had to buy a full set of new nappies I probably would go for Pop'n'Gros, with some FB or BG for days when I needed a slim nappy. Or maybe some FB onesize, but don't have much experience of these.

Have seen a Coolababy and to me it doesn't look substantial enough to last for 2 plus years, but I've no evidence either way to substantiate that. Plus the fact that the laminate comes away if you wash at 60 doesn't appeal.

Cushie Tushies - have never seen one in real life, so can't comment. But they do look cute!

Tots Easifit - after Kushies (!!!!) these are the most plasticky feeling nappies and I think the platsicky leg elastic is really harsh.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 30/12/2009 19:03

OOOo yes. Fuzzi Bunz. Very good.

I sent an easifit back because it was so scratchy I thought it was faulty! Now I have a white preloved one and it is ok so maybe that is a pattern thing? Still not as soft as my other nappies though.

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 30/12/2009 19:05

Rachel/Myjob Dress arrived, pictures have been taken here so have repackaged and will post in the morning

I don't like pop n gro's either, i love the tots easifit but only the bamboo version, hated the cushie tushie, and lurveeeee itti's

swampster · 30/12/2009 19:05

We are the reasons there are so many different types of nappy, Sal! Fuzzis don't appeal to me, they look like the P'tits Dessous one-sizes (mini-maxis?) which I found yawningly boring. Call me shallow but I like fluffy fluff!

The only times I've had poo explosion issues have been with gussety things, but a long, long time ago in the dark ages of nappydom (DS1 is almost five).

swampster · 30/12/2009 19:07

And 4 is my other great nappy guru, whatever she says is nappy gospel.

swampster · 30/12/2009 19:09

No disrespect, tree, but you and me began this great nappy adventure this time round pretty much together, no?

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 30/12/2009 19:09

Dress is lovely! You clever person!

Aw swampster, you and your fluffy fluff - you really have a huge pastel sock with a kitten on, just trying to nuzzle it's way out of you

Bagpus - get yourself a nice itti. You can't go wrong.

I'd like a big up for BeeHinds magicalls. No one loves them but me .

And puddlekins big fat squishy nappies. Not an AIO though. If only.

swampster · 30/12/2009 19:11

BBH Magicalls have frilly legs! [aghast]

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 30/12/2009 19:14

You love those frills. You are in denial.

4CALLINGBIRDSandnotout · 30/12/2009 19:23

You are my guru oh swampy one....

Out of interest who has used cloth for the longest? I used it on dd1 who is 8.
