(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

my handmade nappy passed the night test! stuffed with 2 micro cloths and an ME booster, as the towel I used to make it was pretty old and thin, but lovely dry bum after 7 hours!!

BBM - I'm enjoying the can't-quite-see-past-my-boobs while it lasts, as last time even though I carried on bf for 11.5months, for 6 of them I had to do with 2 "empty socks" (and until got pg again)

AnnVan · 12/11/2008 09:52

Thanks sunflower - Also know what you mean about the 2 empty socks

swampster · 12/11/2008 09:53

Ellas House it shall be, then, chèz swamp - along with all the millions of other exciting nappies around [addict]!

swampster · 12/11/2008 10:02

Stopped bf in June - DS2 was 2, was feeling sad I'd NEVER DO IT AGAIN. Didn't realise it, but I was already pg with DS3 (due in February)! My socks are full again .

There are a lot of nappies on your trail! I wouldn't have anywhere to put so many spares!

lollipopmother · 12/11/2008 11:22

Sunflower I'm so sorry you haven't received your nappy back yet, I went to post at the vweekend and it was closed (it's always bloody closed these days v) and i've just not been able to get there since, but I will def. post today .

I am at you normally being a size 6, that's tiny!! I am aiming to get into a size 12, size 10 is unrealistic I think now, and my old size 8's (very old!!) were thrown away years ago.

Slings: I have a Wilkinet (great support to back but a real faff getting it on, good for DP as do a larger one for +sizes), a Baby Bjorn (really easy to put on and looks good but puts a lot of pressure onto shoulders) and also the Close sling which is my favourite by a country mile, easy to put on, variety of positions, no shoulder pain, looks lush.

Sunflower I got mine on UKPL, I would have a look on their for sale boards, also they come up now and again on MN slings board.

TheLadyEvenstar · 12/11/2008 11:22

lol Lollipop, and I have more!!! I have a bit of an addiction hence the reason dp said i have to get rid of some before i buy anymore lol

lollipopmother · 12/11/2008 11:36

I've got XS and S nappies and some Wonderoos, when DD needs the next size i'll sell them all to fund it but i'll probably cry my heart out, I love my XS Sandy's so much, I'm going to keep one as a reminder of how tiny she was

TheLadyEvenstar · 12/11/2008 11:40

Lolli nooo i did the same. Ds2 was 5lb 15oz and in SCBU for 5 days, he had a pampers on that looked like a thong lol my mum kept it!

I still have one of his tots bots from when he was 3 weeks old it is soooooooooo teeny!

I have far too many nappies and must sort them out I have about 100 in all without the ones I am selling lol so I could technically get rid of some more lol.

babyjjbaby · 12/11/2008 12:07

i love the wikinet slings migh tget one

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 12/11/2008 13:52

lollipop - no worries, not as if I'm short atm!! just posted sling and nappies back (bumhugger to annvan) - apologies for the wrapping, i had done a pretty job, but was running late so went for jabs first, came back to pick up parcels and realised i'd forgottent to pack the wrap bit of the sling.... so had tp re-pack while wearing maia and big coat (she'd just fallen asleep after the shock...)

seen last night a close on mn board, but now will wait to see how i'll get on with the wrap i've ordered (gypsymama), had it been put there 3 days earlier I would definetly have bought it!!!.

will keep one xs sandy's and airflow wrap too...

Matnan, email me on [email protected] and I will give you a price, it won't be a lot lol.
I just need to get rid of some as i have seen some gorgeously cute ones i HAVE to have lol

wastingmyeducation · 12/11/2008 14:38

So I've told DH that I won't buy any more nappies.
I don't need any more and to be fair I only bought more because I made a bad decision in the first place. I bought a ton of Little Ewes, but don't like them at all, so ordered some Babeco bamboo squares and some Boots squares while waiting. The Boots squares are a bit scrappy, and the Babeco squares aren't square, so I ordered some Lollipop squares and they are brill! I have also got some Bumbles, with boosters, for night time, which are very nice.

So that's all for me.

Now I would like to buy some washable wipes!
What have you tried?
Has anyone tried Cheekywipes?

xx

lollipopmother · 12/11/2008 16:20

I wouldn't waste money buying wipes babe, just make your own from some fleece. I just bought 100 x 150cm of fleece for a fiver and cut it to make my own, i've got more fleece than I know what to do with but at least my wipes match my wet-bag and changing bag now !

However, if you do want to buy some then ebay has some and all the nappy sites sell them too.

TheLadyEvenstar · 12/11/2008 16:35

lolli, what do you make your wet bag out of??? and do you need a water proof lining in it?

sambo303 · 12/11/2008 16:36

Hi All - I'm pretty new to cloth nappies, can I ask a rudimentary question??

I washed some with poo on today - at 40 degrees on quick wash so 31 mins cycle. They came out very stained still. How can I prevent that? Higher temp + longer cycle? I had washed off as much poo as I could then soaked in cold water overnight.

thanks!

BigBadMouse · 12/11/2008 16:45

Hello Sambo

Are they still wet? Sometimes the stain goes as they dry.

Best way to get rid of stains is good old sunshine - it really does work. Even hanging them out on a cloudy day will help. This will work even for old stains so don't worry if it rains for weeks now. You could try drying them in front of a window indoors too.

Liquid detergent doesn't help with the stains so avoid that - I don't like using it for nappies anyway.

You could also try a nappy sanitiser like 'One Life' -napisan is a bit strong.

Preventative measures would be using a fleece liner - you will get stains through those sometimes but not as bad.

As an aside, I never soak my nappies - far too fiddly. It doesn't help with the stains anyway.

wastingmyeducation - babeco bamboo are supposed to go square after one wash but often don't. Mine aren't but I still use them. They make excellent inserts for pocket nappies too .
