(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

Lollipop - re bumhugger I think I'll take you up on that offer if that's ok! I definitely would like to try it out before buying.
re weight gain DS weighed in at 11.5 lb at just over seven weeks and the dr still mentioned poss topping him up with formula! this because his height is on the 75th centile but his weight is below the 50th. He's covered in fat rolls, so what he would look like if his weight was on th 75th centile I don't know - he'd look obese probably. Not giving too much credence to the sodding graphs tbh, babies are individuals you can't force them to conform to lines on graphs. If he stops gaining weight I'll consider topping up, but not when he's averaging 7oz gain each week

swampster · 11/11/2008 13:04

Honestly, lollipop, I have friends in very low places in Finland! If you know any Finns, ask them what a 'pillupuhelin' is .

Morning all, well, time to report back.

A shock incident! DS was WET WET WET in the night - with the new nighttime booster!!! I mean, dripping from his grobag.

2 suggestions...

  1. the booster hadn't been washed enough times.
  2. he's wetting more. (Also wet at lunchtime onto his clothes.) This heavy wetting is a new thing though.

AnnVan I remember you mentioning the little fountain through the nappy! It sounds so sweet although I'd probably be a bit p!ssed off (scuse the pun)!

ilovemydogandPresidentObama · 11/11/2008 15:29

essie - what is he wearing at night? DS (8 months) has made through night fairly dry in:

  1. Tots Bots Flexitot (boosted)
  2. Bum Genius
  3. Lollipop Bamboo (majorly boosted)

the bum genius was the driest though...

wastingmyeducation · 11/11/2008 16:23

ILMD - Essie uses Pop-Ins!

xx

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 11/11/2008 17:05

lollipop - was going to send all back today, but the sling is still drying (washed it yesterday but the bits where the rings are are still wet - it's now by the radiator so it'll be dry by tomorrow!). so if AnnVan e-mails me her address (jadeflex at hotmail dot com) I'll post the bumhugger to her tomorrow on my way to take M to get her jab (AnnVan I'm sending recorded, don't trust royal mail after loosing items I sent and thus costing me a lot of money!!). Just waiting for my hemp wonderoos still, so then I'll decide whether to order some bumhuggers or not... 2 2ndhand ellas house day nappies arrived today, they're old style, but at least they'll give me an idea for the next size..
went to post-natal group today, and have one mum coming over this week to see my nappy collection after seeing me change dd (she had pop-ins on) as she'd like to use cloth but only seen bambino mio in mothercare

babyjjbaby · 11/11/2008 17:34

oh what sling have u used sunflower i was looking at slings but got lost in the chocie

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 11/11/2008 17:50

baby I have 3 mum-made fleece pouch slings (1 ikea £1.59 blankets is enough to make 2) and it's great for when I need one fast (i.e. taking dd out of car at school run) and for sleeping (baby that is!), and doubles as a blanket. I've tried the close baby carrier, which is great as it's like a wrap, but simpler to use, but they're about £49 new, and not much less used on ebay...so watching a few, meanwile got a cheap wrap, hoping i'll learn how to use it...

babyjjbaby · 11/11/2008 18:13

oh have u got a pic of the one ur ma made if i paid her would she be able to make me one cheeky cow

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/11/2008 20:52

www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/20902785

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/11/2008 20:55

including a bambino mio set in size small which i have only used 2 of the nappies as i preferred shaped nappies.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 11/11/2008 22:31

baby - well, I was going to start making some to sell... as soon as my stitching improves... Mum is in Italy (actually, no, at the moment she's in France with my sister visiting gran and looking for a flat/room in Paris for my sister... we're kind of a scattered family ), but I still have a new unused one here I was going to test on ebay. what clothes size/height are you? (not being nosey, but they have to be made to size). I'm, well, normally I'm size 6, 5ft 4", but 10/12 at the moment (this baby weight is hard to go, though can't complain as I had tea and a scone with clotted cream this afternoon, but then again I had skipped lunch...), so I'd say what I have would probably fit btw size 8 and 12 (including boobs too, I'm normally an empty A cup, but a very full D atm ). oh, and it's green, kind of apple green with a little pocket big enough for tissues/mobile.

swampster · 11/11/2008 22:59

Opinions, please: Baby Beehinds (hemp or bamboo?) OR Ella's House for night time?

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/11/2008 23:09

Ellas house

swampster · 11/11/2008 23:29

Really? Have you tried both? Kittykins swears Baby Beehinds are THE most absorbant and I've kind of swaying that way...

TheLadyEvenstar · 11/11/2008 23:56

Swamp, i love ellas house, have tried both but i guess it is down to personal choice!!

AnnVan · 12/11/2008 07:50

Sunflower - i have a wrap sling (the Moby) and I was intimidated by the great big length of cloth at first, but after a couple of practice tries (and watching a video on youtube) I got it down pat. It's worth practicing and putting a large soft toy in it first, obviously you don't want to put your baby in it the first time you try. The wrap is great, because my back ust wouldn't be able to cope with a ring sling or pouch sling

AnnVan · 12/11/2008 08:08

sunflowe - i've emailed you

rusmum · 12/11/2008 09:32

someone should inent a sling which hoists your baby onto your shoulder. DD ben there for 15 weeks now. my poor back. i have started to call her polly. lol

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 12/11/2008 09:33

AnnVan - got it! btw, your name is lovely!

BigBadMouse · 12/11/2008 09:39

swampster - Ellas House - esp for night times (fleece lined). Beehinds are fab design but certainly not a btp unless you potty train early. EH dry quicker and are more versatile with regards to boosting IMO.

I have a hugabub sling - it's really good. DS loves it and I can carry him in it for quite a while without noticing. Still can't cook etc with him in it - can't see past boobs and a baby .
