Hi charitas, yes he's in the bat/origami fold at the mo, in a terry. It's like a bodycast! Obviously the terries haven't been washed too many times, and I'm dry pailing so they aren't getting the vinegar treatment, but I'm hoping I can figure something out to get them softer and less bulky.

xx

TY BBM

Why are Fluffles discontinued? I liked the fact they seemed to dry instantly IYSWIM

I like the prefolds and so far suits baby 6m and pre-crawling, for dresses she has a spotty or a cow/stars wrap also great on recent holiday as only took 8 so wet ones were hand washed and rinsed and out put out to dry so used no dispies

she still has soft runny poop and only 2 leaks passed legs but then was in door bouncer each time but often stained PJ's if she was put in a dispie come morning and the smell

1 wrap can last 2+ days as not an every day pooper.

Turtle you can make 2/3 wipes from each Ikea cloth so very economical

I think I might give nappy agent a call. (I would probably order off babykind anyway, and this way she gets some more custom)To fluffle or not to fluffle??

Oh quick question - I'm prewashing my nappies with no detergent, that's right isn't it?? suddenly come over all unsure.

BigBadMousey · 27/08/2008 14:58

Annvann - I always prewash with a little detergent, just enough to get the coating off the fabric but tbh I'm not sure that if you ommitted the detergent you'd have major absorbancy problems anyway so you might be fine.

Matnan - No idea why they discontinued fluffles. I'm still of the opinion that they over-harvested them from their home planet and they are now extinct in the wild but they say they stopped making them to manufacture the flexitot instead - apparently they didn't want a large range of nappies

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 15:28

BBM - do Fluffles live on the same planet as biros do, do you think? Or do they come from Squornshellous Zeta, where they run with the wild mattresses??

AnnVan · 27/08/2008 15:31

Sorry - I have obviously paid too much attention to DOuglas Adams. Come on, everyone knows that the Hitchhiker's Guide is 100% factual don't they??

MatNanPlus · 27/08/2008 15:57

AV i always to a sprinkle of soap.

BBM why is it what looks to good to be true often is

Not sure about the flexitot, looks like the pants DSS used to issue to my SN sisters, i avoid poppers

Cattymum · 27/08/2008 16:17

AnnVan I prewashed everything with a capful of white vinegar in the fabric conditioner slot... its supposed to get rid of any fabric finishes

Wow, cant believe how many nappy obsessives there are out there!

Turtle have you considered terry squares? they seem much less bulky than prefolds or shaped, and they are the cheapest option so DH cant complain

When we first bought our nappies (way back in the mists of time) we used plushpants. the lady who ran the business used ot live local to us (think the business has moved since) and she invited us round to her house to show us the nappies and advise on the best ones. but the website is really informative.

I certainly agree that proper nappies are more aesthetically pleasing, theres nothing cuter than a fluffy cotton nappy round a babies bum! or am I just odd?

Cattymum - if you're odd then so am I. Mind you - if you look at the baby in the Fairy adds, the image o cuteness, is it wearing a disposable or a superfluffy cloth nappy??

I'm just itching for babby to arrive now. Get on with it! What are you doing in there? It's taking after it's parents - we can't turn up for ANYTHING on time

MatNanPlus · 27/08/2008 17:46

Glad it wasn't too bad KOMH i have a special nail brush to get rid of a lot of the poop after rinsing, really helps with staining and what is a little poop between us

Yes, something much nicer about baby / bum / cloth as opposed to baby / bum / chemicals / plastic bag

BouncingTurtle · 27/08/2008 18:23

Hello all, only just spotted this thread!

I'm using prefolds, Bumgenius and Drybees Pockets for night time, I also have some ME AIOs, a couple of Lollipop fleece nappies and a diddy diaper!

I do like my ds in his cloth nappies he does look cute!

I use Little Green Earthlets liners, though I don't bother at night.

I was adding vinegar to the final wash, should you add it to the first rinse? That might explain why my nappies are still a bit honky!

Also, how do I get stains out? Some of my prefolds are stained but I no longer get any sunlight in my north facing back garden where the airer is, so how can I get the stains out? I normally add a couple of scoopfuls of Ecover laundry bleach but it hasn't helped!
