AnnVan, I'm sure you know from your sister that using cloth isn't actually that much hard work; once you get into a routine with it, it's easy. I stick the washing machin on before I go to bed and try to get them hung out first thing (weather permitting in this bloody awful summer, of course )

Would this be the place to ask the nappy advisors advice on how to get started? So far I've only advised friends and family about cloth, but want to take it further (and eventually be a seller as well) and I'm not sure how to go about marketing myself. Any suggestions greatfully received.

over 36wks now LackaDAISY. Soon, soon. I think the colostrum is making dd's poos a bit soft now. She horrified surprised herself this morning by pooing her knickers. Most distressing for her. That is what you get for liking mummy milk so much.

I heard that LL bamboos take ages to dry. I have bought a nappy drying rack for the bathroom upstairs which is v v warm when the central heating kicks in.

Lacks - depends if you want to be independant or not. If not the there is Lollipop, Babykind etc if you do then start by guaging the market locally. Contact your local nappy project and midwives and see if they want advisors / someone to talk at antenatal classes etc.

'tis easy....but keep away from the SW OK!

I only started mine to keep my psychologist happy - he said I had to mix with other mums but I just could not do the drinking tea at mum and toddler groups and discussing teething and colic etc

ME Airfow and Rikki left red marks (welts even) on DD1 so I'm kind of afraid to try them with DD2. Although DD1 does have the most sensitive skin ever, maybe DD2 won't be as bad.

BBM I have one hempresto bought in a moment of madness. It's a large and is enormous, I've never used it or washed it even (can just tell it will give dd1 a rash by looking at it) Do you want it?

LackaDAISYcal · 26/08/2008 10:04

Wow, 36 weeks........good luck, and poor DD.

DA, www.usednappies.co.uk is good for second hand bargains if you are looking to try some pockets. I have a mix of fuzzibunz (old and new versions), happy heineys, Bumgenius V2 and DryBees. All good ime.

Have recently trialled:

Tots Tlexitots...fantastic
Cottontails birth to potty.....innovative adjustment and reasonably thrsty but the wraps aren't great
Modern Baby Pop-Ins......surprisingly slim fitting, but a few leg leaks.
Lollipop Softee and Micro......good for a quick drying option. The microfleece ones really surprised me as I couldn't see how they would function. The wraps seemed awfully big and hard though.
Bambinex Bamboo.....very slim and thirsty with it, but their wraps not great either.

BigBadMousey · 26/08/2008 10:05

joyS Yes, I would thanks but I have very limited funds atm and Knickers was after one too so she might be willing to pay more...

BigBadMousey · 26/08/2008 10:07

Lacks then you could help on this thread

BBM, I'm in Leeds, so now worries about our paths crossing

I thought about babykind or someone like that. I might look into them again, but ultimately would like to be independant.

Hello all!
DS is 15 weeks and currently in muslins with airflow wraps, has been full-time since about 8 weeks, apart from our holiday last weekend. Damn disposables leaked wee, one of the sticky bits on every nappy wouldn't stick properly and the smell!
We are attempting to move onto the huge stash of Little Ewe terry squares I purchased before his arrival.

It's so nice to be able to chat with real nappy users on MN as I haven't seen anybody using them at baby clinic.
How does one find a nappy advisor? Do they all know about folding terries as well as about all the shaped nappies?

xx

Can I join, as long as you lot don't show me some lovely nappies that I want to buy as I've got a system that works really well atm! DS aged nearly 8 months, been in cloth fulltime since 3 months.

Day: Itti Bitti D'Lish - I love these - cute, trim, absorbant, surprisingly good at containment, and economical!
Night: Bamboo Kiwi Quick Flip with Couche Cover boosted with microfibre cloth & Hemp booster.
Washable wipes: Weenotions bamboo & velour wipes

I thought you were local-ish knickers...you wimped out couldn't make it to the picnic

have left my review on the modern baby thread.

Mrs Jamin, perhaps you could offer some Itty Bitty advice there (BBM linked the thread earlier) as Itty Bitty's are one of the alternatives I suggested but I've never used them myself (wonders whether I can justify another nappy purchase)

Wasting, I've used the Jo-fold from the Nappy Lady site with great success

Gawd with this thread so active, I'm never going to get off the sofa this morning

Sorry knickers, I've got my own

What age gap will you have between DCs? Mine will be 17 months. I'm getting very scared now!

LackaDAISYcal · 26/08/2008 10:34

yikes......your DD has just turned one. Less of a gap than me then!

right am off to get on with the day....later ladies.

LackaDAISYcal (love your name btw) - have commented on that thread. I love them so much I think I'll just buy the large (when DS outgrows the mediums) even though it's tempting to buy something different just for a change.

I'm in my dressing gown too! Need to get changed before DS gets up!
