Reviews of baby beehind wraps here. From personal experience of the nappies I would think the wraps would be well made but on the small side - the btp nappies are far too small for older toddlers IMO.

BigBadMousey · 16/09/2008 21:33

knickers hmmmm.....My bumhuggers will last for that long and not leak when coupled with an aiflow wrap and boosted a bit (DD has a drink at night so it gets tested well!). The lollipop pocket stuffed with the bamboo leaked occassionally but was very comfy and absorbant. Both are fully fleece lined which is why I use them - lovely dry bottom in the morning. The ammonia smell would be either down to the individual DC (DD2 has very strong wet nappies when teething ) and how the nappies have been / are being treated - I've just very successfully de-stinked a load of stinky nappies as a favour for a friend.

Mine too BBM & Knickers! I tried Mrs J's 60 degree trick but they're still pretty high! What's the desmelling trick?

Will heed the advice re liners - I suspected that might be the case. We only chuck the pooey ones down the loo - the rest get washed and reused. Given the number of pooey nappies we get (up to 6 a day!!!) they rarely get washed again! Hadn't considered composting them though - will try that with the slightly raggy washed liners.

BigBadMousey · 16/09/2008 22:04

to destink...

Clean the filters and wipe out the rim and door seal of your washing machine. Do a service wash if you think you need to (empty cycle / hot wash or whatever your manual suggests).

Then...

Buy 500ml white MALT vinegar
Put CLEAN nappies in nappy bucket
Pour all of vinegar over nappies and top up bucket (almost to top) with warm or cold water
Leave to soak overnight
Plonk nappies in wasing machine next morning and wash at 30 or 40C with a full dose of BIOLOGICAL powder
(I also add some warm water with several - up to 10 - drops of lavender or tea tree to the softener compartment but this is optional)
Once the wash cycle is over then rinse once or twice to get rid of any excess powder.

This has worked every time for me so far - it's not something you should have to do often.

BigBadMousey · 16/09/2008 22:08

If you have lots of nappies to do then I think it is best to 'de-stink' in batches. I think I never do much more than half a bucket full of nappies at a time otherwise they tend to sit in the ammonia smell all night and don't come out as clean (plus it means you can still use your other nappies while you are destinking some....)

thanks BBM - will check sites now (well, will try, DD's does not want to sleep tonight... forgotten how exhausting it can be going up and down the stairs 10 times in 5 minutes to try and settle a tired baby , at least it should help shed the baby weight...)

mrsbigpants · 17/09/2008 12:30

Thank you BBM. Going to try that with the next batch (just done a wash so will be a couple of days before I can report back)

BBM- i think i might just send off for a little lamb sample and see what that looks like. I was tempted by the idea of getting everything bought b4 baby is here but i think I will hang on now. With my other son I bought stacks of tots and they luckily fitted him but i also had some sandys and although they looked cute i didn't get on with the poppers cos i couldn't get a tight enough fit

Ceolas · 17/09/2008 16:56

Sunflower, I have a baby beehinds wrap. It is very well made. Soft, stretchy and seems comfortable for DD.

BUT, it has thick leg bindings, similar to Bummis super shister wrap, which I think make it comfortable, but wick very badly if the nappy gets sopping.

Also it has a polyester layer on the inside which absorbs moisture when wet (again, smiliar to Bummis). Best used for alternate nappy changes so it can dry out in between.

Overall I like it, but wouldn't use for very long periods and definitely not overnight.

BigBadMousey · 17/09/2008 16:59

I'm going to disappear (for a while at least) so just wanted to say hope all goes well with everyones nappy choices and new babies - don't get too addicted now folks

Yes, OK thanks knickers. Just a few RL issues getting in the way of MNetting. Stupid RL - would be better off logging off from that methinks.

Very kind of you to ask. Thank you

sunflower78 · 17/09/2008 20:46

Hi, news on Lollipop from antenatal thread - had baby Elizabeth on Mon night (her DH posted to let us know)! no news on annvan that I've seen though!

thanks all for commetns on wraps!

knickers - MW sent us to hospital today for blood test for jaudice (though I told her that it was the lighting as she looked a lot better, put nearly 1/2 kg on in 12 days and we being Italian had same problem with DS - it's just our Med coloring...) so wasted 2 hrs but at least all ok. she's gorgeous and her big brother adores her, so all well thanks! still too small for bamboo sandy's size S (skinny legs..). but not in hurry to see her getting bigger, she's soooo cute, make do with mix of disp and XS Sandys!

Hi Girls,

Glad all is going well Sunflower.

How are you doing Knickers?

Hope Lollipop is having a good time and that AnnVan is a mummy.

Re smell i now just use 125ml of white vinegar and 30mls bio powder for the Bambino Moi's(prefolds) and a splash of vinegar in the softner space at 40'C and no smell tho am crap at doing a second rinse/spin cycle but no issues and lovely soft nappies in the harshest sunshine/temps (in Sicily so high 30's) and o now do the same routine for my clothes and they are lovely, alot less irritation from bra and waistbands.

Essie3 · 18/09/2008 10:52

Sicily in the high 30s? Was there really any need to mention that?

I just used a flexitot for the first time this morning. Weird nappy imo . Though that's just appearance and texture. DD had it on for a couple of hours and seemed comfortable in it

Ceolas · 18/09/2008 14:54
