I had already seen your advert Knickers as I am really interested in getting the XL Wilkinet for my DP, but yours is the only one I don't like colour scheme wise, isn't it always the way eh, just when something looks like it's going to be really easy! DP tried on the Baby Bjorn today and as I thoguht, the straps aren't really long enough as I think the carrier is too high, which is a shame as it looked really nice and there seem to be loads of Baby Bjorns on sale on MN.

lollipopmother · 06/09/2008 16:57

Woops, thoguht!

Lollipop - what do you do with the clary sage, I'm thinking of trying it, but don't actually know what to do with it?

MatNanPlus · 06/09/2008 21:59

The Wilkinet is cotton so could be dyed

a]navy

b]purple with darker stripes

c]black

d]redwith dark stripes

Lollipop just use twice the salt quantity the dye says i use both the small dyes and the machine dyes in the machine, weigh the item and buy the correct or slightly more dye than youneed for weight, then put into machine dye, salt and item, let machine fill on a low water level and swish around for 5 minutes then switch the machine off and leave for 15 minutes, another few minutes swishing and another 15 minute pause then turn on and let it run.

After it has finished let it dry a bit and then wash again with powder and more salt and taa dah

Have dyed clothing and bed sheets this way, lovely colours.

I have bought little lamb bamboo nappies for new baby and was wondering what is best to wash them in. I would like to try them eco ball things, they claim they are great and clean really well but I wanted to ask someone who has used them

lollipopmother · 07/09/2008 12:12

MatNan - Thanks for the tips, I might well do that if I can tempt DP, but he's been given some vouchers from his work so at the moment he just says I'm being cheapskate if I try and buy a sling on the cheap!

AnnVan - I've just been burning mine in an oil burner, or leaving it on the side with the top off when I'm in bed. It says on the bottle not to put it undiluted onto the skin, but I don't expect it'd do any harm - i've heard of people who have rubbed it in to their bump but I don't know if maybe it was a different type of clary-sage oil? I was very tempted to put it in the bath yesterday but I couldn't stomach having my lovely bath ruined by the rank smell!

KOMH - Did the clary-sage work for you?

I've just had reflexology - no idea if it's a load of old pony or not, but either way it was a really nice and relaxing foot massage!

Hi there,

just to let you know that baby Maia has finally arrived on Friday! Haven't tried nappies yet, she's quite tiny and waiting for meconium to finish, might try XS Sandy tomorrow cos can't wait, but she looks so small... anyway, will post again soon (cannot sit properly at the mo!) good luck to all the waiting bumps!

BigBadMousey · 07/09/2008 16:14

Congratulations Sunflower! Hope Maia likes her Sandy's

knickersonmahead I've just recently bought a hugabub and it is fantastic - DS loves it (hated his baby bjorn carrier). The hugabub is so comfy as soon as it arrived I strapped DS in (after watching instructional DVD twice ) and mowed the lawn - was long overdue. My DH won't wear a carrier either - apparently that is a womans job (along with several other things I considered were just 'parenting duties' for either parent)

Congrats Sunflower, it had to happen sometime after all that discomfort!

I haven't bought any XS nappies, I'm wondering whether I should have now. Mind you, if I have a small baby I shall eat my hat!

MatNanPlus · 07/09/2008 17:45

CONGRATULATIONS SUNFLOWER & MAIA

Heartmum When i got my nappy pack it said if drying indoors use a fan on the nappy as otherwise they are so absorbent they will take ages to dry, failing that put an airer by an open window or back door if possible.
