Sorry to hear about all the poor ladies who are overdue, I remember it well from ds1, where everyday felt like an extra months. HUGS and lots of contraction/labour vibes.

I am soooooo fed up of this miserable weather. I recieved another 10 bimbles today, bunged them in the wash and now have them drying on my rads as best I can. I can't remember the last time I hung anything on the line. I am starting to worry that I won't be able to keep up with a newborn in cloth as well as normal washing and no tumble drier. My radiators are slimline ones and are pretty flush to the wall.

Speaking of washing, what is the best method for washing cloth? I am obviously using non bio right now and have been using about a quater of a scoop for a full load and no softner. I have heard of soap nuts but I feel a bit sceptical so have asked for a free sample to try. What about soda crystals for more stubborn stains? Guess I had better start looking for a lidded bucket too and the best deal on wet bags & washable wipes.

Thanks for the link KOMA! I will have a lok through and see if they do a bucket that I can either put in a corner or can have flush with the wall, less chance of my dh tripping over it .

AnnVan · 05/09/2008 15:50

Heartmum - I don't have a nappy bucket, but a nappy bag. Waterproof obviously I don't really have space in my bathroom for a bucket, and I don't want to wet pail. I have bought a small bucket just to give the nappies a rinse in though.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 15:54

heartmum, I've got some of these but mine only have two bars, not four and they are great. I put the pocket nappies on the rails and the inserts on top of the rads and they are dry overnight.

I lurve my bimbles......can't wait to fill them with a lovely little bottom.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 15:56

oh, and thanks for all those links KOMH. I'm tempted by one or two of them, but I'm not putting anything else on her bottom until we have seen a dermatologist. It's water, doublebase and eco nappies for the time being.

I'm up for a meet up anytime!

lollipopmother · 05/09/2008 16:28

Heartmum - How about this bucket if you're looking for something with a flat edge to go flush against your wall, or they also do a square bucket there too.

Heartmum2Jamie · 05/09/2008 16:43

I am in lurve with bimbles too, they make up the vast majority of my stash, they are just too cute!

Lacks, I am going to look at getting something similar to go over the radiators. I do have a giant clothes airer type thing, but can't quite get it as close to the radiator as I would like. Your poor dd, I hope the dermatologist can help out.

AnnVan, that's a good suggestion actually. I don't really have the space for a bucket or 2 (one on each floor, save traipsing up and down)

Heartmum2Jamie · 05/09/2008 16:47

Thanks LPM! Maybe I can have a bucket downstairs, where I spend most of my time and a wetbag type thing upstair for night changes, getting ready for baths ect.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 18:44

some nappy and wrap bargains at babykind. I've just ordered some XS motherease wraps for the first few weeks...at the price paid, I can sell them on for the same so nothing to lose

Heartmum2Jamie · 05/09/2008 19:46

LOL! I was just coming back to ask you which wraps you would recommend. I have 18 bimbles and that is my main stash, so I want a wrap that fits well over that. Is it down to the shape/size of the baby or the nappy they are wearing? I also have some quick flips (5) which I was planning on using at night eventually and know they will be quite bulky. I don't actually have many pockets or nappies that don't need a wrap now that I look at my stash, it's almost all 2 parters. I do have a FB & a BG (I guess I should get a few more for dh as the look on his face when I showed him how to work the 2 parters, lol!)

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 20:00

motherease wraps are bombproof, either rikki which are velcro or airflow which are poppers. (popolino wraps are very similar to the ME ones but are a lot cheaper although from what I've heard they are just as effective). Some suggest that velcro is better on a newborn as if you decide to use muslins then you won't need to use pins as the wrap will keep the muslin in place as velcro wraps can be a bit if a neater fit.

I've got some motherease, some nature babies (because I like the designs) and a couple of the new totsbots flexi wraps as I have some of the bigger ones from my testing stint and really liked them.

DS1 has just moved up to toddler's at nursery and although I'm happy for him to be in disposbles the day (I know they wouldn't change him often enough to be in washables even though they have said he could) and then they put him in a washable to come home in.....BUT the last 2 days he had his nappy on back to front - I hate to think how hard it was to get on him with the velcro at the back, but it's cut really badly into his legs and they are all sore now.

I mentioned it to them this morning and said it had made his legs really sore and the nappy was on the right way roudn tonight - but how coujld anyone think it went on with the velcro at the back - it look likes a normal nappy, you can just stick it in the washing machine instead of the bin.

Now also having a liner crisis as mothercare haven't had any online or my local (15miles away) store and waitrose which is my fall-back plan seems to have stopped selling them - any suggestions - loathe to pay postage and I like the flushable ones

LackaDAISYcal · 05/09/2008 20:32

your nursery staff are complete numpties if they can't figure a nappy out. Maybe you can give them all a wee tutorial on how it's done?

re the liners, boots sell their own brand and Sainsbury's sell some too...think they might be PHP ones?

AnnVan · 05/09/2008 20:56

Kazzal - lol at the nursery staff, good grief! Sorry for your DS having to have sore legs because of their stupidity though.

MatNanPlus · 05/09/2008 20:59

HeartMum what about a rectanglar waste bin?

#1

#2

Tho these are cupboard mounted cant see why they can't also be freestanding?

KazzaL how thick are some people, no yes i have put dispies on back to front inthe summer when that was all that was worn as toddler would rip it off and had the craps but really i ask you.

AnnVan is there room under the sink? that is were ours is?

Just thinking, my DH regularly comments when changing DDs nappy on our many dispo outings "the tabs are working the wrong way on these nappies J"...but he is a man and a part time nappy changer so can almost be forgiven, he isn't changing nappies all blooming day.

What do we have against lavender? I love the smell of it.

Lavender smells a lot nicer than Clary-Sage, which my house currently stinks of due to me now starting to try just about anything to get this baby out!

I've just put in a silly offer on some Sandy's on Ebay, if the person accepts they are mental! They had a buy it now option of £4.75 each with £2.70 P&P for three, and I've just offered them £3.25 each! I would love it if I got them, although I really shouldn't have bid, hence the silliness of the offer, but you've got to be in it to win it!

There are quite a few Fluffles on Ebay at the moment ladies, if anyone is still wanting - but remember, I linked to a site earlier in the week showing Fluffles for £6 each and no P&P, so make sure you scale down your bids accordingly. I got two for £10 yesterday, I thought it was £11 but I cheaped out on the postage! The pictures make them look so very fluffy and lush, can't wait for them to turn up - DP probably won't be so enthusiastic though!!
