Breast milk jewellery- cute or wierd?!

Okay.... so I can't decide if this is cute or WIERD.

But..... I am currently bf and drawing to the end of the journey- maybe another month or 2. I feel really sad about giving up but I know it's time.

I saw some breast milk jewellery where they use resin to make a pearl looking stone out of breast milk.

I thought maybe this would be a cute keepsake... if not to wear then maybe just a little heart shaped one to keep in a special box.

Thoughts on this? Cute? wierd?

Also- do you know of any other ideas for breastfeeding keepsakes/ souvenirs?

Hope you’re not preparing food for other people with that on 🤮

🙄🙄

Emmamoo89 · 10/01/2023 16:25

I would also like to point out it isn't attention seeking at all.

I loved breastfeeding. I feel so proud that I've manged to do it for 9 months and will continue to do it till he's 2. I love how my boobies comfort him. It is special. And I want a ring for my achievement and because I can.

For the love of god don’t show him that post when he’s 18!

HaroldsDoggyBowl · 10/01/2023 16:29

@Cuppasoupmonster why?

Do you honestly think breastmilk cooties are gonna go into my family's dinner?

If you do, I hope you access the help you desperately need.

Wearing boob juice as jewellery is not attention seeking?

I couldn't agree more. @Cuppasoupmonster clearly has some serious unresolved issues.

Also.. out of the people I prepare food for - two of them were breastfed and the other knocked me up, so I'm sure they'll be grand.

RampantIvy · 10/01/2023 16:31

@Emmamoo89 can you articulate what you loved about breastfeeding? I felt quite neutral about it. I didn't get any physical joy out of it. I just sat and watched TV or read a book while I was feeding. It was just another thing I did to care for my baby.

Because I think wearing hardened lumps of bodily fluid as jewellery is a bit odd?! I breastfed for 8 months. Not ages, but I’ve no hang ups or unresolved issues.

wildmoon · 10/01/2023 16:35

@Cuppasoupmonster so why so repulsed by others choices then?

I loved to be the one to able to feed and nuture him. When he's in pain I just put him on the boob and it calms him straight down. Just love knowing I'm the one to comfort him. It gives me such joy. It was so hard at the beginning as he had tongue tie. I really struggled. But glad I soldiered on and just love it

No it's not. It's pretty stupid to say it is

You're literally choosing to display your breastmilk to the world as an adornment. Jewellery is attention seeking by definition. It's almost like a badge of honor, to signal to yourself and others that you've been able to breastfeed.

Yes it is. Although looking at the jewellery posted on this thread people aren't going to know what it is made from unless someone tells them.

If you say so. I don't think it is and no one would know it was made with breastmilk.

Cococomellon · 10/01/2023 17:15

I am thinking of stopping the BFing soon and don't get the breast milk jewellery thing. I think it's gimmicky a way to cash in on mothers emotional about BFing because, actually, it's not the milk I have an attachment to. It's the infant and the bond from feeding. I don't really see the point of keeping a bit of the milk forever and I'm sure my DC would not find this appealing once grown up!

Cococomellon · 10/01/2023 17:16

But if I did get jewellery made I wouldn't tell people what it was

BridieConvert · 10/01/2023 17:51

Definitely weird IMO.
It's on par with people who get keepsakes made out of the placenta/umbilical cord (can't remember if it's one or both) but they all just freak me out 😂

BridieConvert · 10/01/2023 17:52

Also as for breastfeeding souvenirs... I have photos of my girls nursing and that is enough for me 😳

I've got plenty of photos of baba nursing. Nude or boob covered.
