Breast milk jewellery- cute or wierd?!

Okay.... so I can't decide if this is cute or WIERD.

But..... I am currently bf and drawing to the end of the journey- maybe another month or 2. I feel really sad about giving up but I know it's time.

I saw some breast milk jewellery where they use resin to make a pearl looking stone out of breast milk.

I thought maybe this would be a cute keepsake... if not to wear then maybe just a little heart shaped one to keep in a special box.

Thoughts on this? Cute? wierd?

Also- do you know of any other ideas for breastfeeding keepsakes/ souvenirs?

Ugh. Smug and narcissistic.

Are you quite alright?

Somuchgoo · 11/01/2023 16:07

The jewellery isn't my thing, but in your position if i could easily afford it, I'd get it, if not, I'd freeze some milk so you can decide later. Better to do it and not wear it then regret it later.

I've ff and bf, both by choice. Both I'm bonded equally to. A baby snoozing whilst cuddling into my boob felt amazingly special but you know what also felt amazingly special - looking into my daughter's eyes when she fed (can't result do that with boob). With my ff baby, I also felt that she sought hugs and comfort from me because she loved me, rather than because I was her food source. Whilst I knew my bf baby loved me, it felt the was an element of cupboard love!

My ff child is healthy, strong and thriving. My bf child is wonderful and amazing, and has a serious long term health condition, and also gets every bug going. I don't think feeding them a different way would have made a scrap of difference.

Breastfeeding does seem to engulf some women in a way that I can’t explain. They’re defined by it, gush about it a lot, and have a lot of their own identity attached to it. For me I didn’t give it much thought at the time and certainly not since. It wasn’t a life-changing moment, I didn’t particularly like it, it was endured and then gladly moved on from, it certainly didn’t define or in anyway have a bearing on my relationship with my kid. I wonder what it is that causes the fanaticism.

I agree. For me it was just one of the many things to do when a child is small. I have a friend who sees her ability to breastfeed as a superior quality. In fact she once said raising babies was her proudest achievement in life. I just couldn't get my head round it.

I completely agree with your friend.

I completely agree with your friend.

Nothing funnier than someone who has a baby a few months old thinking they are the fount of motherhood knowledge.

Ok. Completely unrelated of course but said friend is also quite naive, easily led and lacking in any sort of critical thinking. We don't hang out a lot.

Some of us are more than just a pair of milky tits. I’m sorry that you don’t aim higher.

I know I'm more than that. But I've loved my journey with it. It's not been easy.

It generally calms down by the time the kid is school age and is nagging for bottles of Fanta and hitting other kids in the playground. It’s quite amusing in the meantime though 😂

definitely not those things.

Exactly, 9 months is nothing. It’s normal for first time mums with babies to be quite self congratulatory and dole out parenting advice to all who will listen, but compared to what’s to come feeding a baby is a walk in the park. You can’t blame more experienced mums for giggling a bit.

Exactly.
Your are barely off the starting block of parenthood right now.

Actually @Emmamoo89, is that what the "moo" in your username is about? Referencing those milk factories?

No. Cows are my favourite animal. My mam calls me emmamoo

I think it’s a great idea. I’ve got some stashed in my freezer and have been thinking about getting a nice ring made with it. I know it won’t be for everyone but who cares. You do you. Get the jewels! 🥛

I think it's a beautiful idea xx
