Evening everyone and congrats to you all. We're just bobbing on here to say that we're going to move this thread over to Parenting as it seems more appropriate now your babies are here.

Thanks. Flowers

@LouMumsnet are you changing the name etc

Hopefully everyone finds the moved thread. Mine goes to bed for 8.30 most nights. He still hates baths and cries hysterically so I have switched to showering which he seems to be a little better with - he has a shower a couple of times a week before bed, after shower or clean with a wet flannel depending on the day, I moisturise him, change nappy and clothes and pop him in his sleeping bag, offer him a feed which he usually has even if he is only fed an hour ago. I have a little song I sing him at bedtime so I usually sing to him and we have a cuddle, he will have a babble and fall asleep. Sometimes he falls asleep in my arms, some days I will put him in his next to me when he is really drowsy and he falls asleep himself in there...... I do quite enjoy the cuddle though.

Ladies I think my lo is now going through the regression he has been so moody unhappy crying during the inbetween sleeps nothing seems to settle him then at night we have a huge battle to settle him he just doesnt seem happy at all last few days and me being the worrier I am am thinking is it something else he eats fine etc just not happy

20 week old and currently in the middle of sleep regression/teething hell end of February he was napping well in a solid routine and sleeping 12 hours on a night waking for one night feed, March arrived and naps are non-existent waking every 45 minutes and often spending half an hour trying to settle him for him to only get another 20 minutes nap! The one relief I had was good nights, however a week ago that changed he's now waking for an earlier feed between 9-11pm and really unsettled and Whingy most of the night, at my wits end.

Jwl45 · 14/04/2021 21:35

@Rara88Cas oh no... its a huge shock to the system when you go from 12hr nights to unsettled.... I hope this passes soon for you. We had about 5 days of regression I think it was but have not started teething yet. There's plenty of dribbles, hands in mouth, biting anything and everything lol but no pain as yet it seems. We are 22 weeks.

Pinktruffle · 14/04/2021 21:46

Well it seems my LO was definitely teething, I spotted his first tooth today peeping through the gum. Bottom right hand side. I'm kind of sad, he is growing up so quickly!

Jwl45 · 15/04/2021 08:47

@Pinktruffle aw.. you are right, they are growing up too quickly.. time needs to slow down a little. We'll we had a restless night... waking all hours... well not really waking, whingeing a little, nothing major, but not sleeping sound and keeping us awake lol.
I definitely think it's teeth... though can't see or feel anything yet. Definite shock to the system when she's been sleeping through lol.

Kj1010 · 15/04/2021 09:06

Not quite ready to sit up yet either goes forward onto his belly then definitely means does not like being on belly at all I brought him a jumparoo off market place which he is still getting used to but does enjoy I dont normally do second hand but could not justify 80+ pounds for this toy so I got home washed everything and disinfected all the plastic I do laugh when he kicks off from the floor his face is quality

DS is 3.5 months old and we have hit the sleep regression with a vengeance! He’s breastfed so the longest he would go was 5-6 hours over night, but typically would do 2x 4 hour stretches and then a two hour.

Now he’s awake every 1.5-2.5 hours. Luckily he settles back down pretty quickly. Also need to work on his day sleep as he’ll nap well if pushing him in the pram or if I’m holding him, but otherwise he’ll get 25 mins if on his own.

He’s definitely reduced his feeds slightly although he’s a pretty efficient feeder & a full feed is 5-10 mins typically. Still growing like a weed & has shot up centiles to be 75th for weight and 91st for height.

I’m a bit apprehensive about everything opening. I haven’t really breastfed in public & now he’s a bit more active, he finds it hilarious to pull off & squeal...way to draw attention!

Charl88 · 15/04/2021 09:45

@MaverickDanger I could have written this one myself!! Im with you... keep going I'm sure it'll pass soon. I had about 4 hours sleep last night 😭 he had his 16 week jabs on Tuesday though so I'm not sure if they have unsettled him. Had 2 better nights previously as well xx

Jwl45 · 15/04/2021 10:19

I'm yet to do the weaning but feel I should. @Kj1010 how much does your little one have... as in meal wise?
I bought rusks as remember my other 2 liked them... just received and Ella's kitchen weaning guide through post, which suggests veg ...and only a spoonful a day or so for couple of weeks. I was going to start on the breakfast first. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have actually done this before.
Twice. Its amazing how much you forget mind.

Kj1010 · 15/04/2021 10:37

@Jwl45 mine doesnt think much of the rusks at moment but I do 2 tbsp of porridge and some times he still wants more wen I have some my own food like chicken mash veg I just put like a tiny dollop of each in bowl and mash down as best as I can but I'm struggling abit without a blender lol so I am gonna start home on baby food today see how he goes he is more than ready for food now and he still drinks like 5/6 6ounce bottles aday to so blessed there

As the weather is getting better, are any of you using SPF on your baby when you take them out? I burn super quick despite being Asian so I'm worried my LO has inherited this rogue gene but he seems ok so far.

Jwl45 · 15/04/2021 20:28

@Pinktruffle I bought nivea baby spf last week. Used it on her face.
I should have put it on today to be honest when we went for our daily walk, It was hotter than I thought!

Jwl45 · 15/04/2021 20:32

@Kj1010 ah thanks. Yes this one is ready I think. She's 5 half months. At the minute, she drinks 5 bottles of 6 oz day. So I'll keep offering these I guess until we are feeding properly.
Does yours drink water at all?

Jwl45 · 15/04/2021 20:33

@Kj1010 soz.. don't know what happened there. What I meant was does your little one drink water at all... at meal times or any other?

Pinktruffle · 15/04/2021 21:05

Lovely thanks you @Jwl45 and @MLAc2021. I'll grab some Nivea baby and those hoods for the pram look great, my LO hates it when the sun is in his eyes and will love that.

@JWL45 we are going to give my LO his first taste of food tomorrow. I bought the little dummy thing that @Kj1010 posted so will try that with some strawberry in it. I read on the NHS website that water should only be given after 6 months and whilst it isn't necessary from a diet point of view, it's just a good habit to get them in. A couple of sips with food is what they suggest so that's what I will doing when LO turns 6 months, he's 5 months next week so won't be doing it yet.

Jwl45 · 15/04/2021 22:55

@Pinktruffle ah yes. I remember reading about water now. Ah good luck with the weaning. Lunchtime sat for us as my other 2 daughters want to be there 🤗 bless them
Was thinking diff veg every day and I've you, and @Kj1010 I fancy putting Some fruit into those dummies. It's mad how we're just about to start this next exciting chapter.

Pinktruffle · 15/04/2021 23:17

I know, its nuts! It's so sweet that your daughters want to be there @Jwl45! I'll be getting DH to film little ones first taste I think. I don't know why but it seems like a really huge deal to me.
I've got some sweet potato and some broccoli that I'm going to puree for him. I bought little freezable containers to stick in the freezer with the puree in. I'm just waiting for his weaning spoons to turn up. I'll just start with a taste of one thing a day I think initially. I have some more veg ordered from the supermarket for next week.

Kj1010 · 16/04/2021 00:04

@Jwl45 yes my lo has had water as they do get thirsty to obviously steralised he quite enjoys it if I'm honest well he has had spag bowl and mango today I brought it from boots ellas kitchen its called organic aswell and from 4 months and he very much enjoyed that and I havent put cream on my lo as his hood covers him right over but as the weather improves I will be applying full block on him

@Kj1010 what a gorgeous pic of your little one so enjoying ...look at those gorgeous eyes!!!
Ella's kitchen is the route I will take as well as home food. I've had the weaning chart and book through the post. Interesting read. Also had some money off coupons... it all helps eh
