I must have missed your post @Jwl45, thank you for the well wishes. I'm 15 weeks now and all seems to be going well, I've got a bump now and come round to the idea that I'm having another one!
@Kj1010 thank you for your well wishes too.
The Health Visitor has referred my son for physio and he has his first appointment in a couple of weeks. I actually found the HV much more help than the GP!

Smafa · 28/04/2022 15:19

Hello @Kj1010 glad to hear your lil monster is doing well 😁 Mine is lagging behind a bit, might be due to not being around other kids though.(I’m only just getting over my Covid anxiety.)
Is it very bad to not point/talk/walk at 16 mo? He babbles but doesn’t seem to understand anything except songs he recognises.

Pinktruffle · 28/04/2022 15:24

@Smafa my son was in the same boat in regards to walking. Does your son crawl?
I wouldn't worry hugely if he is babbling, keep encouraging him and talk to him. Mine babbles A LOT, he does have a decent vocabulary of words to but only does single words like 'cheers' (before wveny mouthful of water) 'car' and 'ball'.
If you are really concerned maybe speak to a Health Visitor and ask them to do an assessment? They were great with mine and have done so much more than the GP.

@Smafa I agree with @Pinktruffle I think my one half walked etc because we are at judo twice q week and he is with older kids so wanted to do what they do I think they go at there own rates I was a little worried as my one not really saying words like a child his age does but then thought he will ho at his pace and bam yesterday it sounds like he trying to say please

Thank you, both of you sometimes it just helps to share 😊
HV did see him, said he’s happy n healthy, makes eye contact etc. But my gut feeling is that he may be on the spectrum…yes he crawls, @Pinktruffle but usually travels upright on his knees, or clings to nearest pair of legs lol He doesn’t wave or point, doesn’t really mimic at all actually…no shaking/nodding head, & naps ever so heavily, nothing wakes him lol but yeah, I’ll see how he is with other kids, we’re going to a non-walker session soon.

Smafa · 28/04/2022 16:40

Also congratulations! You’re brave! 😳👍🏽💐

Morning how are all you ladies qnd now toddlers ? I have a question how do you get a 18month who is very stubborn qnd knows exactly what they want to do what they don't etc to brush there teeth allow you to I physically have to pin my boy to brush and it upsets him badly I've tried toys singing brushing mine at same time etc nothing is working and I swear I can see decay on one of his molars appearing he doesn't eat sweets etc but he still on the bottle alot with milk he doesn't even really like juice and to top it off his not really eating like he used to gone very very picky feel like a terrible mum here x

Hey just realised it's been so long since I've been on here but also nice to see mums have been commenting here and there. How is everyone? My dd has grown so much 😭 she talks so much and knows all her body parts, knows all animal noises, she's also ready to start potty training too. Can't believe she will be 2 soon and can't believe we all started talking on this thread when we were all pregnant and anticipating meeting our little ones. I hope you're all well.

@Kj1010 sorry I wish I could advise you but you're definitely not a terrible mum, my girl does brush her teeth but struggling to get her to spit out, she still interested in swallowing all the toothpaste. Don't worry too much though your son will adjust in his own pace. I have learnt to kinda go with the flow and realised my daughter eventually does things I was expecting her to do randomly. Keep trying and one day hopefully he'll take to it. In the mean time has he seen a dentist yet? Might be worth getting the tooth checked out if you suspect decay x

Kj1010 · 25/08/2022 07:42

@Asianchick6693 morning I didn't need to it was a bit of food silly me and your right they do get round to it he brushes his own teeth and also let's me now to so all good there his talking is coming along very well it feels like after we give him his first hair cut he had just looks so grown up and just more forward now in everything he does still has a way to go but I no he will get there I'm glad your daughter is doing well to

How lovely to hear from everyone! My son is also getting ready to potty train @Asianchick6693 . He tells us whenever he is going to pee or poo and hates having a dirty nappy. He is held back slightly by an issue he has with hypermobility in his joints so isnt walking confidently yet, but as soon as that happeneds, we will be potty training. For now, its potty/nappy change as soon as he tells us to encourage him to carry on telling us.

I know what you all mean about the tooth brushing, mine loves to do it himself but just eats the toothpaste! I role model by brushing mine with him though. He has his first dentist appointment in a couple of weeks and is already on his 4th hair cut, he looks so grown up now all his curls have gone. He can also talk for England, I'm constantly amazed by how fast his vocabulary is expanding and how quickly he picks up words.

Number 2 will be arriving in October which I can't quite believe, I'm really going to have my hands full!

Jwl45 · 25/08/2022 21:21

Hi all. @Kj1010 Elsi is not brilliant at brushing her teeth. There are days where she will happily do it.... doing it herself and letting me brush "upstairs and downstairs " She won't spit our just yet so u just don't give her too much paste.
Fabulous to hear how well our busy little bees are doing. Elsi speaks non stop! In welsh mostly but is now picking up lots of English. She is very funny I must say! @Pinktruffle wow... that's gone quick! It will be wonderful. 😀

Elsi will go and hide when filling her nappy... I offer the potty and she replies with no, no,no. 🤣 She will go and sit on it now and again but hasn't done anything as yet.... Will come in time. They are still young.

Lovely to hear from you.... I had a new phone and lost the thread and couldn't get back on for ages!🙄

viixie · 25/08/2022 23:54

I've only just noticed this thread is still running and it is so nice to read everyone is doing so well 😊

viixie · 25/08/2022 23:55

We are still having breast feeds but definitely not at night! Please tell me I'm not the only one 😩 would like to stop before she is two but she uses feeding for comfort and naps and it's so hard.

Pinktruffle · 26/08/2022 15:27

@viixie it's amazing that you've managed to breastfeed for this long though. I didn't manage it at all last time (expressed for the first 2 days because he wouldnt latch and then have up) but hop to try again this time with no.2.
I know you're ready to stop and wish you all the best with it but it really is amazing you've managed to do it so long!

@Jwl45great to hear how well Elsi is doing! Fabulous that you are managing to work in being bilingual with her. We are doing the same with DS, he currently speaks more single word in Punjabi than English which should be interesting at his new nursery but his English is pretty good too. He doesn't know the English and Punjabi for many words though, he knows one or the other.

WalkingOnSonshine · 26/08/2022 16:04

Amazing to see the updates. I was on here under a previous name and DS is about to turn 20 months.

Congratulations on those expecting again. I’m definitely not ready for another just yet, but talking about trying mid next year.

DS is just an absolute joy. Absolutely adores nursery and we get a day home together in the week. He walked very early so loves anything active. He’s been telling us for a while now when he’s doing a wee/poo, so sounds like I might have to buy a potty to at least introduce him to it.

We stopped breastfeeding at 17 months as he was biting me! He adores his food, I sometimes think he’s part Labrador and his favourite phrase is “more snack Mama”.

Sleep has massively improved, although we still get one wake up a night at about 4-5am but he goes back down. Just need to get him to sleep longer, he averages about 10.5 hours a night but doesn’t seem to be bad on it!

Cant believe they are turning two over the next few months!

MLAC2021 · 30/04/2023 01:03

Hi everyone, been a while, hope you're all doing good.

Congratulations to those expecting, I hope you're getting as much rest as possible. I remember being pregnant with DD and having a 2 year old to look after, I wasn't a fan 😅

DD is 2y 3m on 1st. Flown by.
She is a sassy little chatter box and she is a lot more feisty than my son (5y in July), who whinges every time she takes his toys. I hadn't realised how sensitive he was until DD's personality started to show 🙄😅
Definitely not having any more!

Stay well x

MLAC2021 · 30/04/2023 01:05

Make that 2y 4m on the 1st 😱😅

Kj1010 · 21/06/2023 10:11

My little boy is 2.5 now and he is such a cheeky boy with a cheeky smile. Much more boisterous than my 5 year old but they get on most of the time which is lovely. Glad your all doing OK and congratulations to those expecting again xx

kkr168 · 21/06/2023 14:33

So nice to see this thread updated.
Tommy is almost potty trained, started around 3 months ago & have no accidents at all if he's naked, but as soon as he has any clothes on he just wets himself 🤦🏻‍♀️ he'll get there eventually.
Tommy is definitely going through the terrible two's.
On the most part he's a happy, polite, energetic little boy but we have the odd day like today where he's an absolute terror. Went to soft play where all he did was cry because other kids where playing on bits he wanted, or he was hitting. Gave him multiple warnings & ended up having to leave, he's been an angel since we got home.
His current obsession is aeroplanes, he loves watching & waving at them. He keeps saying "Tommy aeroplane mummy, Tommy go holiday" we're currently looking at where to go so if anyone has any recommendations, send them my way please.

MaverickDanger · 21/06/2023 23:45

DS is 2.5 end of the month & we’re also potty training, about a month in, and he’s doing really well.

He’s the funniest kid, pretty chilled & more often than not you can talk him out of a tantrum. He’s become a proper Mama’s boy after about a year of being Daddy’s boy.

We’re TTC number 2 & hope we’re as lucky again.

Asianchick6693 · 22/06/2023 00:22

Hi everyone! Can't believe this thread is still going. Funny because my last reply mentioned my DD was ready to be potty trained but here I am and she's still in nappies 😭 we're moving houses end of the month so with preparing for all that and between work it seems impossible to plan. I would love some potty training tips - most I've gotten out of her is she sits on the potty and toilet too, knows what it's for but just won't pee. Videos on youtube usually show pooping when potty training so I suspect she's unfamiliar with the feeling of her pee coming out as the nappy probably absorbs it quickly. Kind of wanted to get her trained before the new house and new carpets but I might miss my chance 😭 hope you're all well xx

Jwl45 · 22/06/2023 08:05

Hi all. I was only thinking about thia group the other day but couldn't find it ..... so glad someone posted.
Elsi is a talker. She does not stop. Our first language is welsh and she's pretty fluent in that.... the English has started coming too which I find hilarious!!! Baby Angel us getting on my nerves!!!! 🤣🤣
Potty training.... she has no interest whatsoever. I am shocked as she's quite clever and forward in everything else.
We are putting in knickers during the day (I say we - I mean her grandmother!🤣) a few accidents... Happy to pee outside it seems... potty is another story!
She did poop in her knickers the other day and def didn't like that!!
She wore herself out on Wednesday- fell.asleep on sofa 5.30 and slept through... in knickers! Whoop! But to be fair , I guess she hadn't had a drink!!!

Glad all is well with everyone. Congrats to those who are mammies to be again... exciting.
I now have an 18 year old ... an almost 16 year old (party tonight at home for 23 of them!!🤦🏼‍♀️ with 16bstaying over !🤷🏼‍♀️) and of course little Elsi - whi definitely keeps me entertained!!

Apologies for long post.... I love a chat 🤣
