@Kj1010 oh bless... I know. Little milestones.
I got the weaning thing from the website Ella's kitchen. You just pop in name address etc and then it gets posted out to you.

Jwl45 · 17/04/2021 20:10

Well, today has been busy! First tooth has made an appearance and we started weaning. I couldn't find the blender so bought Ella's kitchen pouches. We tried carrots today... a few hilarious facial expressions but did not spit it out.... had almost 2 little spoonfuls.
How do you ladies sterilise bowls etc. All the ones I've bought says no boiling and no microwave sterilising 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Kj1010 aw that's amazing. Well a couple of spoonfuls have seemed to fill her up. We went for a walk afterwards and she slept the whole 4 miles lol. She's also had a bottle less tonight... this happens sometimes.
Well I was reading the instructions and not one could be sterilised in microwave. So hand washed them in as hot a water as I could stand .... they are dishwasher safe I think but that wasn't an option today lol. I have to prepare more for that. Those dummies you recommended arrived today too. Can't wait to try those too.

Kj1010 · 18/04/2021 09:07

@Jwl45 awww bless my lo even tho ate all that still finds room for same amount of bottles lol I'm going to ring hv up for a weighing appointment as wen I stand on scales with him it showing his 17lb he was this like week or 2 ago so want to see what there scales say and he absolutely loves them food dummies as I will call them it's his own independence and does teach hand to mouth xx

@Jwl45 I haven't used my utensils yet but I have been sterilising everything in a bowl with Milton when I get it. It's all sterelised and ready to use now..... I just need to use it!

kkr168 · 19/04/2021 09:54

Finally found you all!!
We started weaning 2 weeks ago, just the odd teaspoon here & there but he just wasn't interested, probably doesn't help that he's just not a hungry baby. Yesterday we tried him with a rusk & he loved it, not sure if it was the taste or he just preferred holding & feeding himself! He is dairy free though & rusks are a may contain so have kept a close eye on him, so far he's had no allergy reactions to it. Think I'll also be ordering the feeding spoon you posted @Kj1010 so that he can feed himself more foods.
I have a miltons cold water sterilizer, so pop his spoons & bowls in there, you don't need to sterilize them after 6 months though, just bottles.

We've been applying spf when going out for the day, its been so hot, although probably don't need to as he's very shaded.

Has anyone taken there LO swimming yet? Were desperate to go but haven't managed to book a slot yet, all the local pools are fully booked until may.
We start music bugs classes wednesday, its going to be strange being around other mums & babies.

Cr17 · 19/04/2021 16:03

Hi all,
Hope you don't mind me joining!
My Lo is 17 weeks tomorrow, defo going through the sleep regression at the mo, for over a week night time sleep has been all over the place, waking different times in the nights, she will happily sleep on me/with me but as soon as i put her down in her crib she wakes back up.. this been going on for week & a half now!
I've been sticking to the same bedtime routine she would usually go from 7.30ish til 3am (ish) feed and then back down again til 6.30/7ish (i miss this!) I'm hoping this passes by quickly! Im struggling, dh works long hours and shifts so is unable to help with the nights although on the wkend he will get up with dd so I can catch up with sleep!
How have you coped/coping with the sleep regression? If you have passed it how long did it last for you?
Slightly worried with allowing her to sleep with me that I'm making a rod off me own back when things eventually go back to normal but sometimes this is the only way she will sleep and for me to sleep!

Jwl45 · 19/04/2021 17:37

@Pinktruffle does the Milton leave a strong smell on them? Do you take them out of the Milton and put into cupboard until you're ready to use them? (May be a silly question... but with my steriliser I was told to leave things in there until I needed them. (24 hrs only)
Carrot was not a great success yesterday. Tried pureed apple today. She much preferred that lol. I may try rusk or porridge tomorrow morning. See how I go.

Pinktruffle · 19/04/2021 22:39

@Jwl45 I don't find there is any lingering smell from the Milton. I have sterelised everything in a clean Tupperware box and then have just stored it all in the same box afterwards. It has a lid so everything can be tidley put away.
I still haven't managed to feed my LO anything yet, I'm not sure what is holding me back. He has been really difficult today tho, only napping half an hour at a time and he only had 3 naps rather than 4. He's been horribly cranky. He fell also for the night earlier than usual, at 7.50. I'm hoping he sleeps well.

@cr17 my LO's sleep regression lasted about 3 weeks. He still isn't back to his old pattern but is better on the whole. Last night he fell asleep at 9.30 (I usually like him to be asleep about 8.30 but I'm trying to get him to fall asleep himself in his crib so it's taking longer but I'm being patient). Furing his regression, I had the same issue where he would only sleep on me or in the bed, now he is happily back in his crib. I would try every night to put him in the crib during the regression and would only have him in bed when he woke during the night so my advice to you is to keep trying to put her down and then if you have to have her with you to get some sleep, just do it. As long as you don't give up trying to put her on the crib, I think she will adjust back quickly. Mine showed me he was ready himself, one night I was holding him as he was falling asleep and he kept crying and wriggling, eventually I gave up and put him down and he quietly and quickly went to sleep - I realised he was ready to sleep on his own at that point.

Pinktruffle · 19/04/2021 22:42

Sorry, I babbled on a bit there, I was meant to say last night he slept at 9.30 and woke up once at 5.30am for milk and then slept till the morning.

Kj1010 · 20/04/2021 15:15

Afternoon my little man is loving trying the foods some obvs he not keen on but sure is funny his facial expressions well I think the regression is over or it wasnt regression at all not sure lol but last 2 days with him eating more he seems more content and defo happier he has found his feet finally also sat unaided last night for first time for like 30 seconds lol it's a start also laughing alot and now makes a squeaky/ scream noise which makes him smile inbetween 9pm to 10 pm is when he gets whingy as he wants to go to bed he is still in with us but we just put him down and leave him and he goes off on his own so will defo be looking in to a bed for him soon but he still fidgety of a night like a few moans but is a sleep cud be dreams of some sort

Jwl45 · 20/04/2021 17:53

@Pinktruffle ah ok thanks. May get some Milton and try it that way. They self dry then is it?
Well we have been to Debenhams today!! Had lots of little outfits for a few pounds each! Amazing lol. I weighed Elsi last night on home scales with my daughter and she was approx 19 pounds. Our floors are terribly unlevel so o don't completely trust the scales but wanted an idea. She was 23 weeks yesterday.
Sleep regression didn't last long here.... we are very fortunate also in that she's a good sleeper. Been sleeping through a good while now. Cat naps in day.... or will sleep almost straight in the pram.

She still fits in the next to me but I should probably start looking for a cot bed. Any recommendations gratefully received.😊

Pinktruffle · 21/04/2021 18:07

@Jwl45 to be honest I just dried with tissue but I guess you could air dry.
My LO finally ate! He had half a strawberry yesterday and some pureed broccoli and sweet potato today which he loved. He didn't love eating off the spoon though and ate it off my finger!

I think my son is out of his next to me too, we can't fit a cot in our room but have a cot bed set up in his nursery. He currently just sits or lays in it when I need to leave the room when he is getting changed. He will be 6 months next month but I don't think I'm ready to have him go in his own room yet - I know that's quite pathetic but I'm just not ready!

We got our corned and a drawer set together from Mamas and Papas, we got lucky and got both in the sale for £385, it's a really great quality cotbed.

It's this set but in grey not white. It's also double the price now!

Yellowbeansontoast · 21/04/2021 19:36

We have an IKEA Stuva cotbed with drawers at the bottom. I don't think they sell it anymore, but we got it for £30 on gumtree in perfect condition and it's been great. We got a new mattress for it at the time. I love those drawers at the bottom, they're so handy for keeping spare sheets, sleep sacks, bedtime books etc.

We had to move our LO into his crib in his own room a couple of weeks back as he outgrew his side crib (was constantly banging his hands on the sides) and we don't have space for his cot in our room. I know it's not recommended, but it's worked amazing for us, we all sleep so much better! Plus he's only on the other side of the wall and we leave all doors open, so can hear him just as well, but it means I'm a bit lazier with getting up at the first noise, so he often goes back to sleep on his own by the time I get up Grin

Jwl45 · 21/04/2021 20:19

@Pinktruffle @ yellowbeansontoast
Thanks both. Definitely need to have a look. She loves sleeping with top of her head touching one side... so she's practically diagonal! Whether it is a comfort thing I don't know... if she wakes herself, she will go back to sleep with her hands up on her face. It's so cute lol.
I'm not ready for her to go into her own room if I'm honest. Our walls are really thick and she will be up 2 steps and down a bit (although will be in room next door - if that makes any sense!!) It feels so far away! I quite possibly will fit the cot in ours if I move a couple of things so we shall see.
I fancy an IKEA trip ....

kkr168 · 23/04/2021 21:02

My LO is finally enjoying some foods, we've found he absolutely loves banana & sweet potato, he's not to keen on carrot but we'll give it another go.

We finally managed to go swimming, he really didn't know what to make of it, he didn't cry so that's a bonus! We're going again tomorrow, can't wait!

Does anyone elses LO's sleep on their front? Tommy has started rolling onto his front to sleep, at the moment I wait till he's in a deep sleep then roll him back over, to worried to leave him on his front when we're asleep.

alphabetti · 24/04/2021 20:59

My little girl currently sleeps in a travel cot hat has a next to me attachment. She outgrew Moses basket at 3mth. Her body fit fine but she likes to move her arms around so didn’t have space for that. There is not the space forgot next to my side of bed so tried the travel cot and it’s worked well for us but soon as she able to sit up il have to move her.

She’s almost 5months but not ready for weaning yet but bought some little spoons for her and will get some little bowls and ice cube trays to freeze mini portions of puréed veg.

Im EBF her but going to have to transition her into formula ready for when I return to work when she’s 9mth. She’ll be at nursery full days but she refused a bottle so not sure what to do but still got plenty time. I was thinking if she still refuses when I next try I might try formula in a zippy cup alongside a meal and see if that will help? HV suggested still giving a breastfeed before and after work but I don’t want to end up leaking at work or feeling really engorged for hours. We will leave home 7.15am and get back 6pmish.

Jwl45 · 25/04/2021 08:40

@kkr168 Elsi will turn on her side constantly and I'll be honest I still move her and put her on her back.
I wake up and she's on side and horizontal across the crib... looking into cots.
Foodwise we are having one meal a day.. porridge for breakfast at the minute...she loves the heinz one. Not really bothered with the strawberry one I make with her milk. I just can't seem to fit it all in... i give the milk in the first instance as it's still her main food...but wonder sometimes should I give meal and then finish off with milk or milk first? I don't want to over feed and make her throw up lol. What do you guys do?
I tend to give milk abd then say 20 min later give porridge... want to start the twice a day tomorrow I think

Kj1010 · 25/04/2021 20:19

OP posts:
kkr168 · 25/04/2021 21:17

@Jwl45 I tend to do as follows...
4/5am bottle
8am bottle
9.30am breakfast (organix banana & strawberry porridge)
11am bottle
2pm bottle
3:30pm a veg or fruit puree
5pm bottle
8pm bottle
11pm bottle

I really wish he'd up his milk intake across fewer bottles, he only drinks 4oz maximum still.
With the meals I usually put 2tbsp worth into his bowl & he tends to eat it all (if he likes it), no idea if that's too little/much, been quite a few years since I've done this

Kj1010 · 25/04/2021 21:42

Mine is normally first bottle of morning 6/7 am then around 10/10.30 breakfast and bottle I do 2/3 tbsp of porridge and a 6 ounce bottle then at around 1/2 in afternoon lunch Ella's 70gram pouch of sweetcorn or carrots etc and a bottle then depending he will either have just a bottle or a bottle n afters at around 6ish to 7 then bedtime it seems alot but he really is enjoying his food now and he defo lets me know when his had enough

Jwl45 · 25/04/2021 22:02

Thanks both. Been a while for me too but think I'm roughly same as you... on the right track.
Example
Bottle 8 /8.15am ish
Porridge half hour later.
Bottle 11am
Ella's kitchen 12.30/1
Bottle 2
Bottle 5
Bottle 8
(Give or take ...Bottle is usually every 3 hrs and I then slot breakfast and lunch in between. Only started the second meal today. She had the squash, sweet potato, parsnip; it's definitely her favourite so far.
Tried the Porridge from heinz pot. Loved this.
Last couple of days has had the organix strawberry. Has gone down but she def prefers the heinz.

She also prefers Ella's cold at the minute 🤷🏼‍♀️

Kj1010 · 25/04/2021 22:35

My lo only like his porridge warm everything else cold but he did actually eat my racist warm today
