Any recommendations for car seats ladies? We are still in the travel system one... But ready to move on. I went to Halfords earlier just to browse ... Talk about overwhelming... Makes .. prices... Swivels .. no swivels ...isofix... No isofox 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Kj1010 · 16/09/2021 08:16

@jwl45 I have the joie tilt 69.00 in smythes best one I got no isofix as my car is old and doesn't have the fixtures but it does have a base up to 4 years old to and my little one loves it so comfy

@Jwl45 I would highly recommend a 360 one, they are such a back saver and so much easier if you want to put the little one in asleep/take them out asleep as less up gravel. We got an all stage one - Silvercross Motion 360 but you wouldn't need to spend as much as you dont need an all stage.

I feel like I've not been on here in ages, nice to check in & see everyone's updates.
Sorry it's late but happy birthday @Kj1010 hope you had a great day! Wow 8 teeth, Tommy's only just got his 4th.

Tommy's been poorly again, he had a temp of 39, cough, refused to eat food & drank barely anything. I was convinced it was covid so had the awful job of testing him, it was negative so got him to the drs. He had tonsillitis! The Dr prescribed penicillin, it took 7 days before he was back to his usual cheeky self. Felt like an awful mum swabbing his tonsils, when they must have been so sore.

I've really struggled to get any food into him since then, he's just not interested, just wants his milk. He was also taking some steps before getting poorly & now he won't even try, just plonks himself down as soon as I let go of his hands.

@Jwl45 I have the Joie ispin, absolutely love it, like @Pinktruffle said the 360 aspect is a back saver, it makes things so much easier.

Jwl45 · 18/09/2021 08:15

Thank you ladies. I shall browse these ones ...@kkr168 aw poor Tommy. Hopefully he'll be back to eating and stepping out soon. I'm sure he will.

Elsi is standing independently a lot more and cruising the furniture... I don't think it will be long before she's off! I'm back in work full time and must say I miss our daily routine so much. Thankfully though I do love my job, so that certainly helps.
Elsi is happy as Larry going to both sets of grandparents. She didn't used to get up until 9 when I was off... So must be a shock to her system to have to get up at 7-30. Bless her.
She is with my sister today as we are off to England for the day... A weird feeling being so far away from her. 😢 Although know she's in good hands.
Hope you're all well

We went to go and look around a nursery today in preparation for me going back to work in a few months time. It will be wonderful for my little one but scary for me to leave him. Luckily my friends daughter is going to be in his class so that makes me feel better though they dont really know each other yet. Just need to sort out my days with work now but they are being very slow in responding to me in regards to a meeting.

My LO went swimming for the first time last week and LOVED it, I wish we had had the chance to go when he was younger but better late than never

Kj1010 · 24/09/2021 13:54

Afternoon all having a bit of a tough down time my lo is nearly 10 months old and for a bout a month nearly he does nothing but whinge cry nothing I do play sing etc is satisfying him he also has this higher pitched whinge/scream now my oh thinks it's his teeth and growth spurt as he done this before he isn't eating as well as he normally does he doesn't have no more than three bottles a day now been like that for ages even though I offer him all the time so much waste not that bothers me though there isn't any groups round me and as I said before don't have any mum friends ie with babies and the mates I do have don't seem to be interested /have time for me anymore don't know what my point to this is just venting sorry

OP posts:
Jwl45 · 24/09/2021 21:33

@Kj1010 ah vent away lovely. Sorry to hear that your little one is unsettled. Yes .. quite possibly a growth spurt. I do hope it will pass soon. I'm totally with you on the friends thing. None of mine have babies either. Hang in there...sending hugs 🤗

Kj1010 · 24/09/2021 22:01

@Jwl45 thankyou it does suck though my friends where all interested while pregnant and for a month or 2 after then nothing I hope it's just a little phase to with my lo hate seeing him so unsettled unhappy etc if he doesn't settle soon think ill talk to gp as he is pulling at ears a bit and very waxy didn't mention earlier forgot tiredness

OP posts:
Jwl45 · 24/09/2021 22:15

@Kj1010 shame your friends have gone like that!
Yes , good plan check with Gp. Ear infection maybe or onset of a cold .... always here to listen to vents. Nice to have somewhere to let it all out isn't it?

Hi ladies, just though I would pop on and have a catch up see how you are all doing. I cannot believe how fast time goes. Noah is 9 months old now, very much stuck in sitting, he will crawl backwards but not intentionally and that's about it. If you have any tips it would be great or reccomendation for toys that help etc. How did you get on at work @Asianchick6693 I have my meeting next week with work. Fingers crossed. So lovely to read about how you ate all doing xx

Asianchick6693 · 26/09/2021 19:39

@Nic2908 hey lovely, not great. They've been useless and my meeting felt like I was bullied into feeling a certain way!

I initially applied in July, took them over a month to reply and by the time I had the meeting, it was beginning of this month. I applied to work from 5 days to 3. No compassion from my manager :( just kept being pushed to come back full time apparently there's very little chance of it getting accepted. I went in with a list of all the different days I could do, the only thing I don't want to sacrifice on is the hours. I told her if I can't work part time there's no point in me working at all. Mentioned the PND and how important managing work and home life balance is. Then she finally said the 3 busiest days I'm needed, to send in the application again and she'll have a look but there's absolutely no guarantee. I honestly don't know what to do. I need my job for financial security but at the same time I can't work full time. My circumstances won't allow me :(

It's been 3 weeks now since my second application. I'm due back in work in November and I'm running out of time. Not sure if she's doing it on purpose to turn around and say sorry there's no way they can accommodate it.

Let me know how yours goes. Got my fingers crossed for you xx

kkr168 · 26/09/2021 21:48

Aww @Kj1010 hopefully things settle down soon, would taking him out for a walk, to the park, etc help? If Tommy's in a bad mood, a walk usually settles him.

Tommy is finally back to eating 3 proper meals after getting over a nasty cold & tonsillitis.
He is also walking now Grin he'll be 10 months on the 2nd, so an early walker!

I am having 1 issue with Tommy! When he goes to bed at night, the first 2-3 hours he is very unsettled. Either fidgeting in his sleep or waking up full on screaming, he will only settle with a bottle. He's not hungry, he just sucks on the teat & will then go back to sleep, it got to the point that I tried to reintroduce a dummy but he's not interested! He has a bottle around 11-12 & then he's fine, sleeps until 6-7am. Wondering wether to let him cry it out, although I don't like the thought of that.

MaverickDanger · 26/09/2021 21:49

Lovely to see updates on the little ones.

DS is 9 months this week & I reckon we’ve got only a couple of weeks before he starts walking. He’s got so much control over his standing, crouching etc l, he just needs to take those steps!

Still no teeth through, although teething at the moment, just in time for me to go back to work. Have a new job, working part-time but for 18k more than I was on full-time pre mat leave 😱 not quite sure still how I wangled that one.

Really sad to leave him and our routine, but will still have a couple of days with him. He’s such a sociable baby that he will thrive at nursery but there will be a lot of tears (from me!!)

kkr168 · 26/09/2021 21:50

@Nic2908 I wasted so much money on crawling toys, honestly they are not worth it (in my opinion) I don't think they helped at all. Tommy crawled when he was ready & your lo will too x

Kj1010 · 27/09/2021 07:37

Morning all I feel so refreshed I had over 9 hours sleep last night went to bed early with lo and he slept solid to and ate very well considering he hasn't been hopefully he will be a happier boy today my pram broke yesterday the bolt came loose and a bit is lost so now have to hunt for a new one looking more for a stroller though any recommendations

kkr168 · 05/10/2021 19:13

Tommy's poorly again, high temp, diarrhea, awful nappy rash (he's never had it before). Calpol/calprofen don't seem to be helping him at all, he's either crying or sleeping, feel so helpless when they're poorly.
He spent saturday with his cousin, she's also been poorly & has now been diagnosed with having hand, foot & mouth. Really hoping he doesn't have it, he doesn't have any spots/blisters yet but it says they usually appear a few days after high temp Sad

@Kj1010 I got a cosatta yay (think that's what it's called) absolutely love it, so easy to fold/unfold, light weight, tiny when collapsed, etc

Kj1010 · 06/10/2021 09:31

@kkr168 oh I'm sorry your boy is unwell again I spent a whole day on phone to my doctors to be told I won't get seen and to ring emergency doctor which called me at 9pm my lenny poos haven't been quite right for about 3 weeks a bit of runny poo then mash consistency and smelt quite bad also smelt a bit fishy round his private area well basically given a antifungal cream and sending a letter to my doctors for a poo sample well he had sores in the creases of his legs up top next to private parts put metanium there know gone no fishy smell this is without the antifungal cream and his poos seem to be more normal mash consistency but normal well I think that's normal for a nearly 10 month old I also ended up with the ickle bubba discovery max and so far loving it

Hi everyone, great to hear all the babies are doing OK. Sickness seems to be going round loads at the minute but I suppose we're going out into the world again!
I'm back at work on 18th, feeling anxious about it but I know baby will enjoy himself at childminders (my older son goes to so they will be together until next September) it'll be me that will be a mess.
Baby is 9.5 months now, crawling everywhere and pulling himself up. 5th and 6th tooth coming through now as well. Sleep is on and off, still having some bad nights but I think it's his teeth.
Cant believe some if the babies will be turning 1 soon!

Kj1010 · 14/10/2021 13:26

Afternoon all my lo had his 8-12 month check up he is doing fantastic they said where he should be and also ahead on somethings he weighs 20lb 14 ounces is 73.5 cm length and head is 46 cm in circumference no more teeth yet he is basically on the verge of walking I think health visitor said next time they expect to see him is now at 2.5 years old only time I see them is if I take to get him weighednor if I have concerns which is fair but I now know my scales are basically the same as theirs hope u all are doing fine and well

Hi all. It's been a while. A very special birthday in our house today... Elsi has turned one. I'm not sure where this last year has gone. Time certainly has flown!! Looking forward to celebrating properly on Saturday with close family.
Hope you and yours are all well 😊

Yellowbeansontoast · 10/11/2021 07:16

@Jwl45 can't believe all the babies are turning one already! Happy birthday to Elsi! Would be lovely to hear a little update if you don't mind sharing? Always lovely to see how everyone's getting on!

Jwl45 · 10/11/2021 08:30

Yes. Would be lovely to hear.
Elsi is not quite walking. Has been cruising for ages ... Does a few steps between furniture and members of family. Nearly there... Still sleeping all night .. eating well. Just turned to whole milk .... Literally this morning ...
Has a bout of runny 💩 last week.... lasted few days. Think it was teeth. But we have had covid in the house so I am wondering.....
Do we still sterilise now?
