How many Easter eggs do you get your children ??

I have a 5 year old and is an only child and she always does so well as we come from a large family so will receive Easter eggs from both grandparents, aunties uncles etc
So this year as a single parent and a bit strapped for cash I'm thinking of getting my dd just 3 Easter eggs I would normally do a lot more and maybe a soft toy or a small toy. I feel bad but I think it's a waste of money and over exaggerated !
Just wondering what other parents do/or how many eggs they get ?

The small ones were on deal in tesco for 75p so i just got my dc 3 each in diff flavours, might also get them a choc bunny and a little fluffy chick each too. When i was little i have great memories of getting a pyramid of eggs as had a big family. My dc don't have many people that buys for them but we've since received a big bag of eggs and Easter sweets etc from grandparents too which I've put away. I also have plans to buy acouple baskets and some cheaper eggs for a easter egg hunt i will create at home.

Ours get one each. Why would anyone get a child more than one? No wonder there's an obesity problem in the UK. Mine might get another smallish one from a Grandparent, but only small as they know they've already had a main (big) one from us.

God knows. It seems to be a badge of honour for some people to buy 5 or 6. Then on the Christmas threads you get the people claiming one tiny chocolate per day in their advent calendar has been the absolute ruination of their child and all their teeth have fallen out. No perspective.

Also we dont keep sweets in the house ordinarily and all the dates are great so plenty of time to be eaten.

One medium sized egg from me, usually one from my mum, and I buy a couple of bags of small (palm sized) foil wrapped eggs and a couple of bags of teeny foil wrapped eggs that I hide from the Easter bunny.

And then I eat 75% of them when he’s in bed

Honestly? I just use it as a chance to stock up on chocolate that I’ll dole out over a month or so.
Yes my kid gets a small treat pretty much every day for that month.

No he’s not fat, not gluttonous (he often says he’ll save sweets, cake etc for later) and his teeth are perfect.

I’ll report back if the annual Easter chocolate binge makes him 24 stone and diabetic before he’s 18.

OP this is mumsnet where anyone who sniffs a bit of chocolate is wrong. Get as many eggs as you are comfortable with and can afford

Hardly think easter eggs are to blame for that. As a child i got mountains and and was a thin child. It is all year around lifestyle not because some kid has gotten more than the obligatory 1easter egg god forbid.

Please can I ask everyone to add an Easter egg to the foodbank collection point at your supermarket as we’re now collecting in time to get the eggs to children in time for Easter

Large egg, one or two smaller ones, and maybe a bunny.

There is a lot of disordered eating on MN, from under eating to over eating, to competitive clean eating. This behaviour is modelled to children and does more harm to them than more than one egg at Easter.

Mine get one each from us. Grandparents usually give money that I'll spend on something like a toy bunny or Easter craft kit. They are still quite young though.

And a pack of the foil wrapped eggs to hide in the garden, so that’s about ten small hollow ones each. Don’t get them from relatives.

Mine have 2 each at the moment, there favourite Cadbury’s one and a design there own crayola one. I will probably add a kinder one each, but only because they love collecting the toys and I love eating the chocolate. They don’t get loads from family. If we see DHs family they will get one each of them but none from my family. We won’t be seeing any family at all again this year.

Pre covid they use to get loads from school, the school would do Easter bingo. One year we came away with 15 eggs! They were what we won. They still had loads left so handed the remainder out to every child there 🤦‍♀️ I don’t have strict rules on my DCs eating chocolate but even I drew a line there and gave away the bulk.

We don’t do big easter gifts, we do a little egg hunt in our garden where I hide mini plastic eggs with little bits of chocolate in them or fluffy chicks but that’s it.

I shall probably get DD an After Eight egg. She really dislikes Cadbury's eggs. They just don't taste very nice.

One from us and then I get a bag of the kinder egg sized hollow ones for an egg hunt. I sometimes get them a wee soft toy or book- this year DD is getting some wee bunny earrings that were about £4 I think x

We normally hide mini plastic eggs filled of different candy around the garden. It’s expensive to get whole proper Easter eggs here but as we have had a shit year I’ve ordered them one each plus their little candy eggs to find in the garden. A friends daughter is doing a fundraising with those little plastic eggs as well so they’ll put some in the front yard for me and their grandma sent 2 little Easter treats from England

Although I did find After Eight chocolate Santas one year, they were gorgeous.

I once tried buying my child chocolate but they just donated it to the homeless on the way to look after their eight ponies

Normally do 2/3 £1 eggs a bunny plus about 30 smaller eggs/small characters in the egg hunt but this year Iv gone a bit over board and they have a huge one, 3 medium ones, bunny, bags of haribo bunny's, mini eggs, kinder eggs and all sorts

Beene crap year. Sounds like fun!

My favourite memory at Easter as a child was baking a cake with my mum and making a chocolate cornflake nest for the top. We'd fill the nest with mini eggs and put those little chenille chicks around it. I loved that. I'd keep the little chicks afterwards and play with them in my dolls house.

One. And they don’t get them from anyone else. They don’t know any different. (And are 11 and 14)

We just buy some small eggs for DS to have an Easter egg hunt in the garden. None from grandparents and they're very anti-sugar.

He still has Christmas coins in the cupboard.
