How many Easter eggs do you get your children ??

I have a 5 year old and is an only child and she always does so well as we come from a large family so will receive Easter eggs from both grandparents, aunties uncles etc
So this year as a single parent and a bit strapped for cash I'm thinking of getting my dd just 3 Easter eggs I would normally do a lot more and maybe a soft toy or a small toy. I feel bad but I think it's a waste of money and over exaggerated !
Just wondering what other parents do/or how many eggs they get ?

Quite a few things when she was younger, but not necessarily more than one big egg, maybe a pack of smaller ones too, and a chocolate bunny or something, and a book or toy or some clothes.
I suppose I'd spend around £30.

icklekid · 19/03/2021 17:35

Umm several years I’ve not got them one at all as they got one from both set of grandparents and their godparents and 3 felt like enough!

Potterythrowdown · 19/03/2021 17:35

None. He gets enough from other family members, and then I end up eating them.

One actual egg and a few smaller bits to hide around the house. I wouldn't buy more than one egg.

Parky04 · 19/03/2021 17:36

1 egg from us and we eat the ones from the grandparents!

cyclingtowardsbethlehem · 19/03/2021 17:37

One, and then they do an egg hunt as well. They don't really get any from family either- maybe a toy from their GM. DD1 doesn't eat hers anyway.

PatriciaHolm · 19/03/2021 17:37

None. It's not that long since I threw out the remnants of last years!

Some mini eggs, that's all.

bucketofcoffee · 19/03/2021 17:37

My two DC get one Easter Egg each. The in-laws send them £5 each and my mum gets them both a Lindt Rabbit.

JemimaMuddledUp · 19/03/2021 17:38

Normally just one each. But this year is the last year that all 3 will properly be at home (eldest goes to university in September) so I've gone slightly overboard and bought a big egg and a small egg each, plus lots of little bags of mini eggs, malteaster bunnies etc.

They are going to think I've lost the plot... But grandparents tend to give them cash now rather than eggs, so this is the only chocolate they'll have.

littleredberries · 19/03/2021 17:39

None. We're not Christian and she'll for sure be given chocolate by someone or somewhere else.
Before anyone calls me a Scrooge, my child celebrates other alternative holidays in equality fun ways.

TheJerkStore · 19/03/2021 17:39

Just the one,
We might buy some small ones to hide around the house but they get shared between us all.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 19/03/2021 17:40

Mine get 1 medium sized egg each from us and 1 each from my mum and we do an easter egg hunt with little mini eggs so they get 10 of those each.

Hoppinggreen · 19/03/2021 17:41

One, no idea why you feel the need to get 3

Samanabanana · 19/03/2021 17:41

We do an egg hunt with some small eggs in the garden, and at the end of the hunt DC gets one child sized easter egg. Multiple eggs seems crazy, it would take them months to eat them, surely?

AdriannaP · 19/03/2021 17:44

One! OP she is 5! How much chocolate does she need 😲 if you must, get some small bunnies or something.
Or instead of buying her stuff why don’t you spend time together and make Easter decorations or colour eggs? Doing things together means more to children than things/chocolate.

ApplestheHare · 19/03/2021 17:45

I've never thought to get them more than 1 each, I'm surprised people do.

Frogartist · 19/03/2021 17:46

@Lockdownennui

It’s never occurred to me to give my children more than one egg. They don’t usually get any from family either. We have a few treats like chocolate nests for Easter tea and an Easter egg hunt, but other than that one egg seems fine to me.
This!
mogtheexcellent · 19/03/2021 17:47

Dd has a small lindt bunny for the end of the egg hunt in the garden.

She will get an egg from each set of grandparents.

Nothing else is needed.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 19/03/2021 17:47

1 egg from und maybe a packet if mini eggs or similar. Usually get 1 and sweets from in laws and maybe 3 from aunty/uncles but last year due to covid they didn't.

HarkAVagrant · 19/03/2021 17:49

One. And some mini eggs for an egg hunt. But they do get eggs from grandparents and aunts as well. So they end up with about 4 or 5 each.

SugarCoatIt · 19/03/2021 17:50

We don't buy an Easter egg, if we did then they would get one.

We do a little easter hunt, I head to Aldi buy 10 easter lollies for 99p, and a couple of bags of their little foil wrapped easter themed chocolate treats (probably all comes in at the price of one egg, but I don't do it for economical reasons) and they think it's fab looking around the garden for them. If the weather isn't great then we do the hunt in the house.

trilbydoll · 19/03/2021 17:50

I bought 6 eggs today for the 4 of us (me and dh, 2dc) to share between us. PIL will probably buy them a chocolate rabbit or something. Frankly that's too much but I love chocolate Grin

APurpleSquirrel · 19/03/2021 17:51

1 small egg & then we've got the Malteaser Easter Egg Hunt pack to do a hunt in the house/garden.
They might get an egg from Grandparents, possibly from a friend or cousin but that's it.
We went overboard last year due to lockdown & I recently found a few rogue eggs that hadn't been eaten so have scaled back this year.

Spied · 19/03/2021 17:52

Dc usually get 6/7 eggs each from relatives so I don't buy any.
Dc are pre-teen so the last few years I've bought them a new sweatshirt or such-like 'for Easter'.

EasterGuineaPig · 19/03/2021 17:52

As a child my mum used to give us one egg plus a cuddly toy or book, plus little eggs for the egg hunt. My DDs are too little but that’s what I’ll do when they are old enough to get it.
