@GhostWorld Not neck ache but I was getting back ache at first not sure what from...so I just make sure I’m always positioned properly when I’m holding or feeding my little one and seems to be helping a bit! I’m similar to you with the days and nights and also the cosleeping thing...he always starts in his next to me and sometimes the whole night but I tend to put him next to me when he’s woken and taken a while to settle back down to sleep. How do you sleep when he’s next to you? I can’t work out whether I actually sleep better?

GBA123 · 08/01/2021 10:49

@taratara86 well done on starting exercising! I’m still hoping walking will sort me out but I think I need to resort to some proper exercise to sort this jelly belly that I’ve been left with! My iron levels were low whilst pregnant so I was prescribed the tablets...I just take multi vitamin and iron ones now (the all in one ones) you can get from supermarkets or pharmacies etc...I don’t know if it’s in my head but feel ever so slightly less fatigued since I’ve started taking these

Anyone got tips for tummy time? She's hates it and can only last for about a minute until she starts fussing and crying. She can lift her head up and holds it pretty well when we try to burp her or on her shoulders but for tummy time it only lasts like a minute. Tried to do it on my chest but still not happy. Worried that I'm setting her back from not doing it often cause she hates it

@taratara86 I am taking just a multivitamin, whether it's doing anything or not, I don't know.

@Strawberries4days have you tried rolling a thick towel to put under her chest? I have been using my banana shaped pregnancy pillow and it worked well. I also use bright noisy toys in front of Rafa and get down to his level to entertain and distract him during tummy time. Try putting your wee one on her tummy for a minute or so after every nappy change, hopefully she will get used to it.

@Strawberries4days have you tried a tummy time pillow? My son lasts a bit longer on his nuby one, I put random music on for him and that seems to make him calmer and show him the mirror from his playmat to look at.

GhostWorld · 08/01/2021 13:11

@gba123 I don't think the quality of sleep is very good when he's next to me but it's something at least. If my DP isn't away with work he will take him for a couple of hours from 7am and the sleep I get then is amazing, being able to roll around and spread out!

Strawberries4days · 08/01/2021 13:37

@1990shopefulftm @Mc3209 I'll look into the tummy time pillow. I don't have a pregnancy pillow but I do have a breast feeding one that I bought ages ago before I decided on formula feeding. Think that would work the same way?

DressingGown87 · 08/01/2021 14:29

@Strawberries4days I lie Paige on the bottom of the bed, and sit on the floor, and kind of play boo with her. That way she is on her tummy, but doesn’t feel like she is face planting the floor. Downstairs I have a tummy time pillow, or sometimes just use a cushion. But like your DD she doesn’t like it for long.

Paige has only had one bottle today, she’s been out of sorts (due to her teeth I assume), then had her 12 week injection this morning. She’s been asleep since, tried waking but she’s not interested. Anyone else found they’ve no interest at all in feeding after injections?

taratara86 · 08/01/2021 14:46

@GBA123 thanks so much for this!

apps.apple.com/gb/app/mamabeing-fit/id1544423377 is the app link if you do decide to ease into it! i think there is a free trial period too.

I will definitely try a multivitamin @Mc3209 suggested the same.

Thanks!

Has anyone else just got to a certain weight and not been able to lose anymore? I’m still about a stone and a bit over pre pregnancy weight and just cannot seem to shift anymore. I’m doing HIIT 4/5 times a week, breastfeeding, the recommended calories for losing weight and yet nothing 😩

1990shopefulftm · 08/01/2021 16:45

@FirstSurprise001 I m formula feeding and have only managed 1lb a week loss for the past 5 weeks, if I cut my calories any lower I start to feel quite ill/ too tired.

I did read once that the breastfeeding hormone prolactin in some people causing your fat metabolism to slow down so perhaps it's the fault of that (also sleep deprivation sloes your metabolism too) as it sounds like you re doing everything right.

Mc3209 · 08/01/2021 17:54

@FirstSurprise001 yeah, same. Still 10kg over pre pregnancy weight. I walk daily with a pram (somewhere around 1 hour to 1 hour and a half), breastfeed, and used to calorie count. Made no difference. I got fed up of calorie counting and just eating sensibly now (and no alcohol at all), the weight is sort of fluctuating with 500g loss/gain over a week, but no significant changes. Once I finish breastfeeding I am planning to go onto significant calorie restriction to get the weight down and then hopefully maintain with healthy eating.

FirstSurprise001 · 08/01/2021 18:49

@1990shopefulftm I’ve read that too! Maybe I’m just one of those unfortunate people then. My other half is doing it with me and losing a lot of weight so I just couldn’t see where I was going wrong 😩

@Mc3209 glad I’m not the only one in this boat! I think I’m going to adjust meals for next week to be a bit ‘cleaner’ to see if that helps. Less pasta, more veggies. Out of interest, when are you thinking of stopping BF? My little guy will be 7 months when I go back to work and think other than pumping, I don’t know how else it’s possible to carry on?

1990shopefulftm · 08/01/2021 19:11

@FirstSurprise001 if it's working for him then I m sure you aren't doing anything wrong and it's just bad luck.

At this rate it ll be about 6 months for me to get to where I d like, haven't been on a diet before until now so I had to get rid of all the snacks out of the house or I d eat them.

krissy12 · 08/01/2021 19:42

ladies how much formula is your little ones taking. we're now at 5x 7oz bottles a day which I feel is loads but he does sleep through the night now

1990shopefulftm · 08/01/2021 19:54

@krissy12 my Ds can have up to 6 7oz bottles a day.

Mc3209 · 08/01/2021 19:57

@FirstSurprise001 I am planning to stop breastfeeding around 8-9 months ish, providing weaning goes well. I kind of resigned that I won't be back to my normal shape for about a year.

Need a bit of a hand hold, DS had his 8 week jabs today and he's so sad! He's had 2 lots of calpol although didn't get it all as was crying too much :( he's basically been attached to the boob since 1, but keeps crying into the boob and little sobs every so often. I feel very emotional and anxious even though I know its normal!

Mc3209 · 08/01/2021 21:38

@GhostWorld sending lots of hugs your way. Poor little chicken. It's heart wrenching seeing them upset like this, isn't it. Sounds like lots of cuddles and kisses are in order for your little one.

OP posts:
DressingGown87 · 08/01/2021 21:38

@FirstSurprise001 in the same, the brakes seem to have come on, even though I’m trying to eat well, and walk 5-12km a day. I’m trying not to worry to much (although if I have this summer body it might be a different story). Don’t worry, it will happen in time, and you sound like you’ve made good progress.

@krissy12 we are on 5 6oz per day. As long as they are putting on weight, following their curve (to some extent) and are happy, don’t fret too much.

@GhostWorld awww it’s so heartbreaking to see them sad. We have had 12week jabs today. Since she’s woke up from her 6.5hour nap 🙈 shes had her bottom lip out, in between the crying. She will do a smile and then go all sad again 😢 lots of cuddles, hopefully by tomorrow they will have forgotten.

@Flora20 nice to hear from you! Glad all is well with you and your little one, hope your DD isn’t giving you the run around too much. Awww we are still in 0-3, but I think we will start on the next size, next week. Time is flying isn’t it, Paige is 12 weeks now.

Flora20 · 08/01/2021 22:42

@GhostWorld It's horribly when they're upset and they don't know why. Just keep boobing and cuddling - hopefully tomorrow he'll be back to normal. I feel such a traitor when they're getting the jabs, Oren was sitting beaming at the nurse when she stuck the needle in and the look on his face was heartbreaking!

@DressingGown87 How are you and Paige getting on, sounds like you're doing ok? Is she doing better re feeding/reflux now?

@FirstSurprise001 You don't have to stop feeding - your body will adjust to not being with baby all the time and you'll not be engorged, but there'll be plenty of milk when it's needed! My first used to have a massive feed before and after work, then feed more in the evening to compensate - in the day she was happy with solid food and water. At 7 months I'd probably try to express a bottle if baby will take it, but you should be fine. Think it's called reverse feeding? I used to love that first feed getting home from work, I found it a really settling thing to do for both of us x

Mc3209 · 08/01/2021 23:24

@DressingGown87 Rafa does the bottom lip out too when he is sad!
Wow, what a nap Paige had.
@Flora20 gosh, I know exactly what you mean re feeling like a traitor during their jabs.

I hope all the little ones who had jabs today are feeling better tomorrow 😘

Strawberries4days · 09/01/2021 12:29

Bit of success with tummy time today. Used the breast feeding pillow and she held her head up the whole time, probably under 5 mins. Gonna keep at it in the morning and after noon. Just wished I thought of this sooner 🙈

Awwww jabs are never fun, hope everyone is ok and getting loads of cuddles xx

ChlOeWh · 10/01/2021 12:36

Afternoon ladies, just wondering if any of you know what this is? It's like a blister type spot🤷🏼‍♀️

Mc3209 · 10/01/2021 23:38

@ChlOeWh not sure, but Rafa had similar random spot which went away after 24-48 hours by itself.
