Hey, thought I'd join onto this thread :) how's everyone doing tonight?

Mc3209 · 11/01/2021 06:05

@Laur89 tonight has been ok, got a 4 hour stretch. Life is good ☺️ how are you getting on? How are you finding motherhood?

OP posts:
Sls668 · 11/01/2021 09:44

@Laur89 we have massively regressed this week. Last week she did 3 nights sleeping from 11.30ish til 5.30ish in her bedside crib. This week she won’t sleep unless she’s in with me 😩 I knew it seemed too good to be true! Welcome to the thread!

DS got 7 hours sleep in a row which means he's now skipping a feed and just took 8oz for the first time.
If he can take that at 9 weeks old I m hoping he doesn't go too much higher otherwise I might speak to the HV about what we should do weaning wise with his massive appetite.

krissy12 · 11/01/2021 22:49

we are getting about 8/9 hours through the night which I am so so grateful for but I am dreading the sleep regression already as I know it is going to hit me so hard

also bit of a personal one has anyone not had a period yet. 10 weeks pp formula feeding and nothing yet

krissy12 · 11/01/2021 22:51

@1990shopefulftm my lb is 10 weeks abs draining 7oz I think I'm going to need to put him to 8 soon to

1990shopefulftm · 11/01/2021 22:54

@krissy12 no period yet either, doctor didn't seem concerned at the 8 week check when I mentioned it.
I ve had uterus pains which I d sometimes get before my period starting but then it stops and no sign of it.

Mc3209 · 12/01/2021 04:49

No period here either. I even did a pregnancy test the other day as was feeling a little queasy (was negative). I had mirena coil fitted 2 days ago, so I am hoping not to see my period for the next few years..

DressingGown87 · 12/01/2021 13:40

@krissy12 everyone is different. I had mine 3 weeks PP, had 3 in total since and we are at 12weeks. I didn’t bleed for long afterwards (1 week max) and never got any milk. Your body will adapt when it’s ready.

We’ve had two unsettled nights. She is just waking for something to chew on, doesn’t want a bottle. Just had the appointment with her dietician at the hospital, they where really good, so least I have an idea of how to wean her with CMPA when the time comes.

@ChlOeWh hope the spot has cleared, I’ve no clue sorry.

@Flora20 we are doing good thank you. Some days are hard and exhausting, but just got to remember to take it easy. It’s more mentally draining, and there have been days I’ve just cried and said I can’t do this alone. Just need to know when to take a break and ask for help (hard in current lockdown). She has done so much better since her diagnosis, putting on the weight now, but think we are a bit unsettled at the minute due to teething. Hope your well and Oren is doing ok.

GBA123 · 12/01/2021 14:17

@1990shopefulftm @krissy12 can I ask did your little ones randomly sleep through one night and it’s since continued or did you see them progressively doing longer stints or dropping one of their feeds first? My DS is 12 weeks this Sunday coming and he’s still feeding every three hours...he’s putting on weight and is healthy but rarely finishes a 6oz bottle. I’m so jealous of the sleep you’re getting!!

1990shopefulftm · 12/01/2021 15:16

@GBA123 He didn't sleep through last night as he was very unsettled and no idea why, it seems to be completely random for when he's done it as we didn't change anything at all except the first night he slept through he had his jabs that afternoon.

When he sleeps through he's skipped a bottle and then wanted an extra oz on 2 or 3 of his bottles the next day, he roughly eats every 7oz every 4 hours during the day, sometimes I will offer him 8oz if he seems to still be rooting and he'll take it. He is 14lb 8 though so is very big for 9 weeks old.

krissy12 · 12/01/2021 16:40

thank you you've made me feel better about the period situ

@DressingGown87 I really dont know how you do it in your own I really admire you were having a hard today and my husband is off work today but I'm still struggling feels like when hes not sleeping hes crying.

@GBA123 we do bath bottle and then bed and Lewis is normally asleep between 9 and 10pm. he used to wake up for a feed around 1am and then at 5. he dropped the 1am feed quite a few weeks ago and the 5am feed has just been getting later and later. today he woke up at 8am but yesterday it was half 6. he is quite a noisy sleeper and at times during the night he sounds quite unsettled as if he is waking up but his eyes are still shut so I just turn the white noise from ollie the owl and he falls back asleep properly. I only get him up in the morning for his feed when he fully awake and his eyes are open.

DressingGown87 · 12/01/2021 17:38

@krissy12 Thank you. I think I’m just on auto pilot, with looking after Paige, housework, and working part time and will burn out eventually. 🙈 I’m dreading the sleep regression just like you. I find getting out every day, AirPods in, and walking 5km helps my mental health and sanity. Aww we all have bad days, have you tried teething powder. We have days where she will sleep or scream, found that helps settle her.

@GBA123 I’m the exact same as Krissy in terms of bedtime and how it happened. We go down at around 9pm, but the 2am feed was dropped early on, and the 5am feed just got later and later. Sometimes it’s 7,8 or 9am. Or 5am again like today. She is also a noisy sleeper, and isn’t generally waking for a bottle just fidgeting, so I leave her be, or turn on Ewan, unless she cries. Any wake before 7 is treated in complete darkness, after 7 it’s morning and downstairs. Hoping you get a full night soon. With bottles I found Paige would take 3/4 and then stop. She would then take the remaining 15mins later, she’s on 6oz. What size teats are you using?

krissy12 · 12/01/2021 19:09

thanks @DressingGown87 I'll give the teething powder a try ive been wondering about teething actually. although hes only 10 weeks he is dribbling soo much but I cant see or feel anything that would seem like teeth coming through

GBA123 · 12/01/2021 20:33

@DressingGown87 I don’t know whether I need to relax a little in the night, the slightest noise I’m ready to make a bottle and am on guard for ages and I bet I probably feed him when he doesn’t really need it, I’m just conscious of getting to him before he gets to the point of crying (partly not to disturb my husband cos of work but also because our walls with neighbours are paper thin!). Yes I’m doing 6oz bottles and I say 50% of them he finishes but it’s really hit and miss during the day which is annoyin as I keep hearing people tell me to fill him up in the day and I can’t! I’ve moved to size 2 teats just this week and think this has helped a tad but hard to say.

FirstSurprise001 · 13/01/2021 05:59

Interested to hear from the BF mamas what kind of feeding times they’re doing?

I never really took much notice but the last couple of days I jotted down when he was feeding. We’re currently doing every 2 hours in the day. Asleep at 8:30/9:00 then a feed at 2 and 6. I was worried about the long stints at night, especially given I’m actually waking him for them rather than him waking. I’m just not sure with BF I should let him sleep through if he doesn’t wake or not. Gives me anxiety for no reason 😂

Sls668 · 13/01/2021 09:38

@FirstSurprise001 I have an app that I record feeds and sleeps on (mainly because I have an awful memory!). She’s 9 weeks and feeding usually every 2-3 hours in the day. Then from 5pm (ish) onwards, she feeds a bit more, maybe about every 60-90 minutes (I think tanking up for the night). Generally from that time she just eats and sleeps until about 11.30 when she seems to switch from ‘evening mode’ to ‘night mode’! Nights are really hit and miss, on a few occasions she’s slept from 11pm until 5am (BEST NIGHTS EVER!), I didn’t wake her, in fact she’s quite scary when woken up so I try to never wake her up! Last night she went to bed at 10.30 and woke at 1am and 4am to feed. Honestly I wouldn’t worry about the longer stints, enjoy the sleep, they let you know when they’re hungry (or just need a comfort feed in my LO’s case!)

Mc3209 · 13/01/2021 14:42

@FirstSurprise001 feeding quite often during the day, every 1.5 - 2 hours. Good clusterfeed in the evening, feels like he is trying to extract every single drop out of both boobs 😂 Asleep around 10.30pm, feeds around 4am ish and 7am ish. 4am he is usually half asleep when I put him on the boob. I find since he is sleeping longer stretches in the night, he feeds more frequently in the day to make up.

Glooorb · 13/01/2021 21:46

@FirstSurprise001 I log everything religiously on baby tracker since I can't remember anything about sleep, feeds and nappy change!

Oscar is 12 weeks and he is going around 2-4 hours between feeds. In the night time he can go for 5 hours and so may be having a last feed around 9-10pm and then waking up at 3-4 PM for a feed, and then again at 9am. Still really variable though so not much of a routine!! I was worrying more about not feeding him enough during the night but then I do think if he is hungry he will let me know!

I'm EBF and he's around every 2 hours all day and night with a cluster feed around 5am-7am.. Keep trying to record everything on baby tracker to work out if there is a sleep pattern but I'm so bad at remembering to stop the timers and then have to guess how long the feed/sleep was! Also keep forgetting which boob he last fed from which is a bit of a nightmare

DressingGown87 · 13/01/2021 22:35

@Glooorb with your naps is Oscar sleeping on you / with you? I’m having trouble trying to settle Paige at the minute in the day, she seems to fight every nap. That’s on me, play mat, swings, car, pram, bed... nothing seems to work. Which is making life slightly hard and tiresome (especially when tryin to eat, work, clean). Then she just progressively worse (overtired) during the day, until she’s a nightmare. But soon as bed and bath come, she’s happy as Larry and goes down. I’ve tried a sling, but due to my pins in my collar bone I can’t for long.

I’ve religious used my tracker too, just not for day sleeps, maybe I need to start.

DressingGown87 · 13/01/2021 22:40

@GBA123 do you use a dummy? I found just placing that back in the night, helped her to resettle. But never did she cry when she woke, just made little noises / grunts / whimpers. But get what you mean you want to try and soothe / feed incase it escalates. It will come with time, and maybe try at the weekend when your DH isn’t working to see if he is just grizzling, or actually waking up for a feed. You’ll find you get there with something, and then it changes for the better or worse.

Glooorb · 14/01/2021 03:53

@DressingGown87 I do rock Oscar to sleep, when I put him down for both day naps and night time. (I'm sure it will come back to bite me... but he just would not settle and go to sleep by himself if I try to put him down into his bed while drowsy).

I will close the blinds and switch on the white noise when trying to get him to sleep. Also we really look out for the tiredness signs so when he starts yawning, we start putting him down so he doesn't get overtired.

How old is Paige now? Can this blip be the start of her 4 month sleep regression, because everything is now so interesting, she prefers looking at things rather than sleeping?

Glooorb · 14/01/2021 03:56

@DressingGown87 oh and I swaddle Oscar with one of those zipped up gro bags / love to dream swaddle. That definitely helps!

GBA123 · 14/01/2021 08:42

@DressingGown87 yes we use a dummy so will give that a go...was on my own with him last two nights and felt like I had better nights than usual, I wonder if it’s because I’m not so on edge!
