@SamK93 Thankyou for your reply ☺️ I actually gave her half a sachet like it says but I now feel awful for giving it her😭.. I just hate to see her like this and calpol isn't really doing much tbh 😩 xxx

SamK93 · 06/01/2021 21:12

@ChlOeWh don't worry about it too much! She's not far off from three months anyway x

DressingGown87 · 06/01/2021 21:30

@ChlOeWh don’t worry she’s nearly 3 months, it’s not like you’ve started using it at 2 weeks. I’ve given Paige a little for a week, she’s only 12 weeks tomorrow. She can’t stop chewing, she’s not happy unless she can chew on something. I’ve also been using snuffle babe Vapour rub on her feet for the last two weeks, as she is congested at night. That says 3 months too, but my midwife said it was fine x

Hi all,

Just came across this feed and it’s so reassuring to hear so many similar experiences being shared! My DS will be 11 weeks on Sunday and I’m finding him a lot more manageable and almost enjoyable during the day! I’m still knackered from the nights though (my husband is good for nothing at night so he just takes him out when he wakes in the morning to give me a bit of a lie in). I’m bottle feeding and currently my baby wakes at around 2am and 5am after a dream feed around half ten but I’m reading many of you with similar aged babies are experiencing yours sleep right through (the dream!). Am I doing something wrong or is there anything particular you did to encourage those longer blocks of sleep in the night?? First time mum so any tips are really appreciated

SamK93 · 06/01/2021 22:21

Hi @GBA123 welcome to the group and congratulations on your baby boy! That sounds totally normal to me, you sound like you are doing a great job. All babies are different mine wakes up for a feed around 2/3am too, up until a few days ago he was up twice a night, so don't stress. My first, my girl who is 9 now slept through from around 4 months and has always been a good sleeper, but my second who is a boy and now 5 woke up for feeds until around 18 months, this one is also a boy and I'm hoping he doesn't do the same! Babies around this age can manage a 5/6 hour stretch or more at night but that's not always the case, some babies wake up more frequently. Don't stress and just enjoy this time, they grow up too fast x

DressingGown87 · 06/01/2021 22:46

@GBA123 welcome! Babies are all different, and waking up for feeds is common. My little girl is nearly 12weeks. She was waking up at 2am and 5pm for a few weeks, that went to just 5am (with 10am wake up) and now she goes 9pm-8am. But my friends is just like yours. It’s just happened gradually. I just stick to the same routine every night (but daytimes are just go with the flow), wake up from nap about 6, feed, playtime, bath at 8, then lights out and bedtime bottle in darkness at 9pm. Put down with Ewan the sheep when she is half asleep. They will naturally just develop their own sleeping pattern. Like Sam said just enjoy time with them, before we know it they will be grown up x

Mc3209 · 07/01/2021 00:07

Gah. Today was a total day nap time of 20 mins.. and here I was talking about routines 🙈 Rafa wasn't grizzly, just alert and ready to be entertained.
Hi @GBA123 👋 my DH is not really helpful with my son (10 weeks) full stop. DH would play with him for short spells of time, but he would never just take the baby to give me lie in or just 'me time'. I made my peace with it since I wanted the baby and he just agreed as a compromise. DH does love him, but he is pretty much useless when it comes to looking after him.

I am getting into a broody phase now. Basically U-turning on where I was few weeks ago! Wouldn't mind having a second one now 😅 DH will never sign up to that though. I caught myself thinking that I wouldn't mind being a SAHM with few kiddies... I was pretty career oriented before baby came along! I hope this is all hormones talking and will pass.

So I'm thinking the teething powder has worked ladies.. 🤞🏼 we had a full nights sleep last night for the first time in a while🥳 not going to count my blessing just yet though 😂

GBA123 · 07/01/2021 10:46

@SamK93 thanks for sharing and fingers crossed it isn’t a boy thing!!

@DressingGown87 I’m wondering if I bath mine too early...he is bathed by half six then has a bottle and put down to sleep by 7, do you think it’s worthwhile delaying or think I should just stick to it now?

@Mc3209 I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one whose DH isn’t pulling his finger out. He will help if I directly ask him to do stuff but sometimes I feel like it’s just easier to do things myself...I don’t know whether we just have more of a maternal instinct so can sense what baby needs or wants better but this is a complete learning curve for me as well and sometimes I’d love him to just say have a rest I’ve got this the way I do with him...wishful thinking lol

DressingGown87 · 07/01/2021 11:08

@ChlOeWh glad it worked, and that you got some sleep. Fingers crossed.

@GBA123 I don’t think there is a right or wrong way. I just take Paige up to bed when I go, and I usually watch something in bed at 9pm. So she is going down late. I would love to put her to bed earlier (7pm) so I get some time to myself. But I don’t want to disrupt the full nights sleep, and this seems to work for us both at the minute. What time is your little ones last nap?

@Mc3209 aww that’s so lovely to hear, that your loving motherhood. Hope nap time is a better today. I would love Paige to have a sibling, but I’m probably settling for the one 😂

GBA123 · 07/01/2021 11:18

Hard to say timings with napping as it’s as and when really but I’d probably say on average he has a nap from around 3.30-5 and then has a play until about 6...feel like it’s really early after having read this thread though!!

1990shopefulftm · 07/01/2021 11:33

DS slept from 1-6am last night and had a good nap this morning, at the moment DH looks after DS downstairs till 3am so I can get solid sleep and then we swap over but last night he brought him up and settled in his next to me.

The nights before that were pretty good too and I m still quite low energy so my GPs agreed to get my iron levels rechecked as they haven't been since I had infusions for it (unfortunately the blood clinic has a week wait for the appointment) really hoping that's the solution as I m looking to stop my blood pressure medicine soon and once my energy's sorted I think I could actually say I ve properly recovered after two months.
Losing the baby weight is a whole different story but managing a pound a week for the past month is a start.

Mc3209 · 07/01/2021 13:09

@1990shopefulftm don't get me started on baby weight 😂 I still have the mum pouch with a post C section 'fanny pack' overhang, and thunder thighs. Awesome.
I hope you get your bloods checked soon.

@GBA123 I think at this stage it's whatever suits you better re bed time. We are moving upstairs for sleep around 9-10pm, usually he is down by 11pm, mainly because I do t particularly fancy going to bed at 7pm myself (as someone needs to stay with him in the room and that's usually me) 😬 When he can sleep in the room without one of us present (from SIDS prevention point of view) then I will start pushing wake up and bed times to earlier. That's the theory anyway.

@Mc3209 my stomach is so stretched from how big he was, I thought it d bother me but I m okay with my thighs and stretch marks just don't want to have a 3 month pregnant sized stomach anymore.

Mc3209 · 07/01/2021 14:21

@1990shopefulftm I've got a lot more 'spare' skin around my midriff. I'm hoping it will go away eventually.

Sls668 · 07/01/2021 14:39

We had a good night last night - she slept through from 11.30pm until around 6am, I was amazed!

We have 8 week jabs tomorrow and I’m absolutely dreading it. I could cry just thinking about it which is really unlike me. A lot of people have said they’ve fed their baby afterwards to settle them (she’s breastfed), has anyone been able to do that with the current restrictions in place or has it been straight in and out?

DressingGown87 · 07/01/2021 14:59

@1990shopefulftm glad you’ve had a few good nights. Hope you get your energy levels back up soon. Don’t worry about the baby weight, it will come off in time, especially when you’ve got more energy.

@Mc3209 I’m exactly the same, will gradually start moving bedtime forward once she can sleep safely in her own room. With you on the section pouch / skin flap 🙈 I just don’t see how it’s going to go.

@Sls668 aww well done! Good luck for the jabs tomorrow, we are on 12week ones. Im anxious about it, even though last time I got worked up, and she was fine. I’m not sure on the restrictions. Lady before me comforted her little one before leaving, but assume it will be down to each surgery.

Mc3209 · 07/01/2021 17:12

@Sls668 I breastfed immediately after the vaccines in GP surgery. It was a one way system, and we had to wait 5-10 mins after vaccines to check there was no reaction (in a separate room from where jabs were given) so I just did a quick feed then. I'd also suggest bring a rattle or a toy to distract him immediately after the jab goes in. It will be ok.

just catching up on the thread. I'm going to be a bit controversial but we do put our lb up to bed on his own about 9 half 9 and we normally go up about an hour later. we have the angelcare baby monitor with the movement detector we can see him breathing and moving around on the screen and if he isnt moving an alarm gives a warning noise then fully goes off after 20 seconds

Glooorb · 07/01/2021 21:26

How are you ladies able to put your little ones down in their own without rocking them? Every time I put Oscar down drowsy, if he is not actually asleep, he will open his eyes really wide like "what the heck is this, mum?" And then screams bloody murder!! I have the lights dark and dimmed, and white noise on, but he still cries.

No luck on the dummy front either. He just likes to spit them out in disgust!! He is into chewing his hands right more so I'm hoping this of the start

Glooorb · 07/01/2021 21:28

*He is into chewing his hands right now so I'm hoping this is the start of self soothing!

DressingGown87 · 07/01/2021 22:23

@krissy12 thats sounds good, wish I had invested in something like that. I do have a monitor with sound, so I do put her down, and nip out the room. Just don’t go back down and watch tv, but as she sleeps with it on, didn’t make much difference, plus I can’t see the mess up here 😂

@Glooorb I use to lie Paige in the next to me and hold her hand as she went to sleep, stroke it or rub her belly. After her feed, I keep her up for min 20 mins due to her reflux. So I put my knees up, and rock her on them so she isn’t physically being held, and then place her down, with Ewan. She will usually be lightly asleep / drowsy by this point. Oscar will get there, maybe stroking his hand will let him know your there, and a small step in the right direction.

GhostWorld · 07/01/2021 23:23

Anyone else get terrible neck ache from looking down at their little one?

We definitely don't have a structured nap cycle yet, in the day I just play when he seems awake and cuddle or rock him when he seems like he wants to sleep.. Nights are pretty structured though as he wakes up to feed at 1am, 3.30ish and then 6am. Currently co sleeping but attempting once or twice a night to put him down in the next to me, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I sometimes think why make things hard for myself and disturb him more than I need to!

Flora20 · 08/01/2021 10:07

Hi all, happy new year! I completely lost this thread as I managed to lock myself out of my account, I've been wondering how everyone was getting on though!

It feels like such a long time since i was pregnant... Oren will be 11 weeks old tomorrow and is growing like a weed - he's filling out 3-6 month clothes and needs the length of 6-9 months... Giant baby! He's also very happy and easy going - which is fortunate as his sister is hard work 😂

taratara86 · 08/01/2021 10:15

Ive just begun some light exercise again. using an app called mama being fit. it's really good even though early days. Even though i am struggling with tiredness it is still manageable.

Does anyone have any diet/vitmain supplement style tips for energy levels to increase to help with fatigue? If not i will stick with light exercise as it seems to help!
