To clarify, he wasn't playing with the poo, just playing while there was poo in his pants

I need help.
I need Cod to come and do a home visit.

Ds will be 4 (yes 4) in December

Have toilet seat
Potty that looks like a little seat (all chosen by him)
Thomas pants
Bob pants (chosen again by him)

Screams at the top of his lungs and cries until he is almost throwing up when you take him to the loo.

Doesn't like his potty or the toilet seat - says he is going to fall through the hole, despite constant reassurance.

Bribes like sweets etc don't work.

Refuses to believe that all his friends use the toilet and tells me they don't.

Bawls his eyes out when I say he can't go to nursery in September unless he uses the toilet.

Dh has even resorted to weeing in the potty to show him what to do.

HELP

LOL @ your dh doing a wee in the potty!!

Sorry, that's not much help is it?

I agree with cod - just take nappies of, end of. Let him sit in wet pants for a bit so he feels uncomfortable.

MildGreenFairy · 02/08/2007 22:33

my ds is 2.4 and not bothered about having wet/dirty nap at all. He is a fantastic talker but point blank refuses to answer if you ask him anything about potty/toilet and refuses to sit on it. no amount of sweets/chocolate/cake or special treat bribery makes the slightest difference. Also he can't pull his own trousers up and down- is that required?
Should I try potty training or just wait till he wants too?

MildGreenFairy · 02/08/2007 22:35

also my ds wouldn't be bothered in the slightest at having soaking wet trousers.

Help please-dd (2.2) is getting there, will ask to go to loo or use potty (about 50/50 which one) will even ask when in pullups at toddlers or in knickers, has only had a couple of leaks when busy playing but has quickly noticed and asked to go for wee, I do need to help her with dress and knickers though, but she won't do a poo on potty, loo, or let me put nappy on for poo, just does it in knickers, and then cries when I want to clean her up, should I worry, does she just need to get more used to pottys, we've only been training for a week. She only does one every 1-2 days although never constipated, and often goes first thing when she has her night nappy on, but I need to help her during the day.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 04/08/2007 15:18

Welcome Fimbo!

Well, I spoke too soon - there has been a poo in his pants the last two days as well, but no wee accidents so slow progress here(day 10 today). He still says he doesn't know when he is doing a poo so I guess he needs to learn that before we will get any further.

sputnik · 04/08/2007 18:10

Fimbo, we went through 2 weeks o f potty hell similar to yours, DD could easily have won an Oscar in her role as the girl who couldn't sit on the potty when she needed to. Niceness, bribery, cajolery etc didn't work. In the end we practically had to pin her down to the potty a nd threatened to cancel her birthday party . It worked, and no problems after that. We have yet to crack poos though, she sneakily waits for her bedtime nappy.

GreatGooglyMoogly, I love your name, and it's somehow appropriate for this thread I think, just don't eat the yellow snow, ok?

micromummy · 04/08/2007 22:58

now: progress update.
wees in toilet IF reminded.
once or twice has asked to go.
poos only in pants
doesn't care in the slightest when has done a poo, but does mind wet pants.
it is now about 4 weeks.
will he ever get it? fed up with always thinking about the next wee.
also his bladder and ds2's stomach seem to have some kind of synchrony so when ever i take him to wee ds2 is yowling loudly for milk...
