Unscientific survey ... how many of you bath you kids every day?

Because if the media are to be believed, the whole nation's kids are happily blowing bubbles in the bathtub of an evening, every bloody evening. Personally, my ds is lucky if he gets one a week! Maybe two, if my fingernails need cleaning. .

lol

fannyannie · 01/04/2007 17:15

every other day (usually) although if I'm really tired/pushed for time it's every 3 days

PrincessPeaHead · 01/04/2007 17:16

most days actually. sometimes only once on a weekend, but otherwise pretty much every day.

they are usually covered in mud though

every night - it's part of their wind-down pre-bed routine

3easterbunniesandnomore · 01/04/2007 17:16

lol...in my house my Kids only get a maximum of 2 baths a week, but more often then not it's once....obviously wiht the summer coming and the possibility of them getting dirtier playing out, they may get bathed more often...but other then that...no need for a daily bath, not good for the skin anyway...my excuse and I am sticking to it!

hunkermunker · 01/04/2007 17:17

Yes, both boys every day.

cathcart · 01/04/2007 17:17

every other day, with a good top and tail in between. I know its not really that neccesary to bath baby that often but it is mainly because she enjoys it so much!

Carmenere · 01/04/2007 17:18

Twice a week. Or more if she is manky.

ChasingRabbits · 01/04/2007 17:18

most, maybe 5 ot of 7 - mostly to kill that last half hour before bed for ds2 (14mo). But then until he was about 6mo he only got a bath about once a week, if that.

QueenEagle · 01/04/2007 17:18

Bath or shower every day. Evenings is easier as it makes for a quicker getaways on days when I am working.
Can't stand the thought of my 4 and 2 year olds going to bed with crusty noses and stinky bits. It's just not possible to get them clean with a strip wash and far easier to run a shallow bath or stick them under the shower head for a couple of minutes!!

NuttyMuffins · 01/04/2007 17:19

Mine used to get bathed about 3 times a week but now it is normally every night because it keeps them occupied for an hour whilst i sort out washihng etc.

foxinsocks · 01/04/2007 17:19

it depends really - ds tends to get very dirty at school (think he must spend every break time rolling in mud and dirt) and they are starting to complain about bathing together (and bathing separately takes aaaaages) so....I reckon...maybe 3 or 4 a week, sometimes more, sometimes less.

dumbymummy · 01/04/2007 17:20

PPHead, mine hasn't got to the muddy stage yet (or not all the time), so I may have to revise my slovenly ways at some point. And I agree with easterbunnies - bad for the skin!! My excuse too. When I was a kid we had one bath a week, on a Sunday night. As far as I was aware, all the kids did the same.

You and me both dumbymummy. Too much to do in the evenings without bathtime.

filthymindedvixen · 01/04/2007 17:20

When they were little, they loved a bath every night. Now it's a major battle to drag them into one once a week...they are 9 and 6 and boys. They seem to take great pride in being as grubby as possible. And if they smell, so much the better!

Gobbledigook · 01/04/2007 17:20

I bathed them every night when I only had two and they were younger, before they started school. It was part of the routine before bed but there was time to do it then.

Nowadays, ds1 is at school and half the time there are activities after school for one, two or three of them - swimming lessons, football, french or going to friends' houses - so by the time we get in, have tea, do reading or spellings it's really time for them to get to bed.

I try to get them in the bath at least once in the week and they always have a bath on Sunday night before school. It depends on what they've been doing as well - in the summer I bath them a lot more because they've been out in the garden and get more dirty than they do in the winter playing in the playroom.

no. maybe 3 times a week. she's too excited by baths to have them at bedtime so we do them in the day time, like as a fun play time thing.

Gobbledigook · 01/04/2007 17:22

Agree filthy - it was an 'activity' when they were really small! In fact ds3 is only 2 and he loves it and is quite put out if there isn't time!!

PinkTulips · 01/04/2007 17:23

every second night in winter, usually in the shower with me most summer evenings as we've been at the beach

Lact8 · 01/04/2007 17:25

DS2 and DD go in every night as they are always filthly

DS2 digs in the stones in our front garden everyday and DD doing BLW and her hair needs washing everynight and the wrinkle under her double chin stores an amazing amount of food!

DS1 is 10 and also a reluctant washer. Most days he plays football and brings half the field in with him. He now has to strip off in the porch and straight in the shower or he leaves a trail of mud and grass behind him.

Lact8 · 01/04/2007 17:25

or even filthy

boysontoast · 01/04/2007 17:28

i do.

is a neccessary end to the day for me/us; clock hits 7, they get in the bath (all 3 of em) they play in one contained place, while dp tidies up the rest... they know bedtime is coming... then they go to bed without a whimper. is also a good time to get first glass of wine... ahhhhhh

hana · 01/04/2007 17:29

prob every other day, more often in summer. baby most days b/c of poopy bum

MegJoshMum · 01/04/2007 17:30

Yes ~ DD bath everyday, DS in the shower everyday but he is almost 11 so needs a shove to get in there but he is a dead sweaty kid so needs it too.
