Unscientific survey ... how many of you bath you kids every day?

Because if the media are to be believed, the whole nation's kids are happily blowing bubbles in the bathtub of an evening, every bloody evening. Personally, my ds is lucky if he gets one a week! Maybe two, if my fingernails need cleaning. .

DSs (4 and 2) get bathed most nights in winter (not always with soap so their skin doesn't dry out too much) and every night in summer as they play out in the garden all day and come in filthy. I expect it will be less as they get older.

ScoobyDooooo · 01/04/2007 22:08

Ds (4) & Dd (15 months) usually every other night, but if they have been in the garden or park or are mucky then i will bath them, Also if ds asks then i will put him in the bath so it differs, ds has been known to go in the bath twice in one day because he loves a bath.

Hi, girls! Back from my shift at the pub, pulling pints. Been to check on ds .. smelly, of course. Since I've been gone, it has been driving towards the bath every day camp. I would say it was roughly 50/50 at the moment. Cheers to us all, though! I doubt if there are rights or wrongs on the issue. Some mums have routines, some don't. Some have a sense of smell, others don't. Some can be bothered, some can't. One thing's for sure ... they all love us regardless!

about twice a week, sometimes more.wanted to do it nightly as part of routine but no energy!

kiskidee · 02/04/2007 02:20

every night for dd. only because she has eczema and the dermatologist says a bath no longer than 10mins hydrates the skin and i put emollients in her bath to seal the moisture in so no bubbles! i would love to do it less often as she doesn't even get dirty yet.

alipiggie · 02/04/2007 03:40

Every single night of the week it'd be more than once a day if I let them. And they love showers too. But they're little boys so I wonder if they'll grow out of it. Who knows. As someone else said, part of their wind down routine at bedtime.

ghosty · 02/04/2007 07:13

We bathed DS religiously every night of the week from the day he was born. Routine routine routine was the only way to go in our house, having PND and all that I was a complete control freak. If he missed a bath I would have to lie down in a darkened room.
Poor DD only gets a bath if I can be bothered. She hates having her hair washed so that happens once a week if she is lucky.
DS is 7 so I make him have a bath or shower when he smells of 'wet dog'

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 02/04/2007 07:22

God no, life's far too short. When I only had one, I think I might have, now they have a bath twice a weeks, the baby probably three times because she really enjoys it .

lapsedrunner · 02/04/2007 07:22

every night - it's part of their wind-down pre-bed routine

earlgrey · 02/04/2007 07:25

Every day here with the exception of Friday when they (and I) have a night off!

Anna8888 · 02/04/2007 07:36

Every day, once in the morning (sometimes with me) and often again in the evening with her father.

My daughter (2.4) has very long hair that needs washing every day. And she gets very dirty living in the centre of a big city.

Every night - it's part of dd wind to bed routine.

Homebird8 · 02/04/2007 10:16

My sister baths hers every night regardless of whether there is a bath (she's been known to plug a shower tray as a substitute)! They don't like showers so even when camping a baby bath comes out and her 4 and 2 year olds get a dunking as part of a night time routine regardless of the temperature. Brrrr

Whoooosh · 02/04/2007 10:17

Every night without fail.

Nemo2007 · 02/04/2007 10:19

When I only had DS I used to bath him every single night without fail. Then DD1 came along and I bathed them every 2 nights, now we have DD2 aswell and putting 3 under 3.5yrs in the bath togehter is hard especially now DH works long hours so maybe 3 times a week if they are lucky!!

OrmIrian · 02/04/2007 10:21

Every other night unless they are very grubby or if they want one. Hairwash once a week too - I tell them they are very very lucky as I know many kids who get a hairwash every night.

serenity · 02/04/2007 10:29

2 or 3 times a week, I work evenings I've never had the time to have it as part of a bedtime routine (what bedtime routine?!) DS1 is starting to get sweaty after high activity so I make sure he has his showers on the days when he has after school football or netball.
