Unscientific survey ... how many of you bath you kids every day?

Because if the media are to be believed, the whole nation's kids are happily blowing bubbles in the bathtub of an evening, every bloody evening. Personally, my ds is lucky if he gets one a week! Maybe two, if my fingernails need cleaning. .

I bath ds every night, without fail. I think he's had only 2 bath-free evenings since I started doing it every night (at 7 weeks old), and that was because we were travelling back from seeing relatives at the appropriate time.

I don't do it because I actually think he needs cleaning as such (although he's usually quite grubby). It is more because it is part of his bedtime routine of winding down for the day. Plus he loves bathtime, and it transforms him from a grumpy over-tired baby into a happy, smiley one.

If it works for you not to bath ds, then don't! A bit of dirt never hurt anyone. My SIL never baths her children, so if BIL is late back from work or away for the week they don't get bathed.

every night here, sometimes twice a day.

ohsmellyeasterbunnies · 02/04/2007 14:22

every night here too

fishie · 02/04/2007 14:34

yes every night here too. but that is partly cos in nappies which i think means a good daily wash is needed and bath easier than any other form.

daily shower for me, but not dp, i wonder how ds will end up.

pooka · 02/04/2007 14:37

Every night here, unless we're late coming back from a day out.
We just seem to have stuck in the routine that we've always had. Also (and trying to ignore the guilt I feel environmentally) it seems just as easy to dunk them in the bath for a good wash as to pin them down for a wipe over with a flannel, and much more relaxing too.

ScottishThistle · 02/04/2007 14:42

Every night unless we're home late, washing the important bits daily & whole body wash every few days along with hair!

Same goes for me, I personally feel grubby if I go to bed unwashed!

kslatts · 02/04/2007 14:53

Shower or bath every other day in the winter and every day in the summer. Only wash their hair about every 4 days though.

ds showers after swimming twice a week and dd gets a bath on sundays. More often if they get dirty. I think all this unnecessary washing is bad for the skin and the environment.

robin3 · 02/04/2007 16:28

Every night...again part of routine.

Mumpbump · 02/04/2007 16:34

Ds gets a bath most days. The au pair does it though! I think it chills him out at the end of the day and he really enjoys playing in the water. But it was very irregular until he was about 8/9 months.

mousiemousie · 02/04/2007 16:34

whenever I remember or she asks for one or gets in mine....
dp runs a tighter ship than me

GibbonInARibbon · 02/04/2007 16:35

every night as part of bedtime routine

EHM · 02/04/2007 16:46

everynight as part of night time routine. d loves the bath, would stay in there for hours if the water didn't get cold.
