I didn't let babysitter take her out house though and I was in the next room "working". Thoguht she might try and flog her to a celebrity.

TheDaVinciCod · 02/11/2006 10:02

and if they speak less oherently as teenagers do you have to saty with em again

Hmm, I was a bit twitchy about leaving DS1 ... I don't think he got left with people much until he was about one, at which point I was fed up of him and would have left him with anyone.

Seriously, my parents were crap at organising childcare, my sister and I had a series of terrifying babysitters/nannies/whatever, complete nightmares, so I used to be more comfortable with nurseries etc than individuals. But I do use a few nannies now.

MrsApron · 02/11/2006 10:03

To explain slightly. My mum is crazed and I wouldn't trust her with a dog never mind my children.

My inlaws are well meaning but wouldn't understand that if we were out a screaming child actually wants a parent and it isn't doing us a favour to not let us know. I put my childrens well being first.

And of course I do actually like being with them and DH wants to spend his free time with them.

verbal children however... dd1 starts playgroup 3 mornings in 4 weeks.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 02/11/2006 10:04

i have only ever left my 2 with family.

would never ever get a babysitter from the phone book or whatever.... if family cant do it, tough.

mousiemousie · 02/11/2006 10:04

krabbiepatty · 02/11/2006 10:05

My inlaws actually last people I would leave mine with. They are hopeless vague and bufterish and likely to shut child's head in door of car or spear it with a shooting stick

Bozza · 02/11/2006 10:05

DS speaks coherently until it is time to leave the table and then he mutters "please may I leave the table" and when asked to repeat himself shouts in a staccato voice "please may I leave the table". So I just wonder off and leave him there while DH is stacking the dishwasher until he becomes coherent.

TheDaVinciCod · 02/11/2006 10:05

oh and they smell of nothing really - soap flakes and vinegar here!

ghosty · 02/11/2006 10:06

I beg people to take them off my hands ....

tortoiseshell · 02/11/2006 10:06

I leave mine with anyone. At creche at church on a Sunday I don't know WHO will have ds2 in the creche, or the others in Sunday School. But they all love it!

I have the last laugh as well - dropping them off at playgroup/school is a dream - they give me a kiss and say 'Go now Mum'.

Can't imagine not wanting to leave them at all - I need space as a human being otherwise I go mad!

Bozza · 02/11/2006 10:07

jarm you don't count as a weirdie under cod's definition because you need to have only left them with DH.

aweebitgross · 02/11/2006 10:07

WARNING TO THOSE MOTHERS!!!!

I didn't leave dd (Now 5) with anyone ever She came, to doc appointments, dental apps, hairdresser, everywhere with me. Not even when I went to the toilet did I leave her...she sat at the door with the door slightly ajar so I could see her feet/whatever I was totally obsessive... to the point that no-body wanted to visit me, I wouldn't let anyone hole her, feed her, touch her etc... she was mine. I had waited a while to get pregnant with her, and had a horrendous pregnancy, a quick labour and was totally in love with her... dh would come home many a day and I wouldn't have moved off the sofa or ate a bite, as I had been looking at, feeding and holding dd all day, only moving to change her nappy. My god..... then I fell pregnant again... sweet lordy... that child went beserk! I had to go into hosp for 6 weeks with hyperemisis.. and she was left with my mum, my mil, and a sister of mine.. all taking it in turns whilst the others worked/shopped/were busy.. My poor baby almost had a nervous breakdown as she hadn't spent much time ever with anybody... I was off my rocker!!
Then after ds was born I started leaving him with my aunt, my mil etc..to get him used to others as I had well and truly learnt my lesson with dd. I began working 3 days a week, and left dd and ds with a c/minder. dd went beserk there too... cried for me for hours, ds settled great as he had been used to being away from me In the end the c/minder wouldn't take care of dd anymore as she cried so much. I had to give up work

Get then used to others, please, what happens when they go to school..they will be in the care of others there?????
