PENTHE! Have emailed you on the address that you said you never checked . I hope you find it!

Sput... are you watching youtube ??

Camomilla · 16/03/2010 20:42

Buon compleanno MM!! your dd's soooooooooooo sweet . hope you had a lovely day.

had a lovely day (until the F*ing bird dropped something on my coat just as I thought I was out of the danger-zzone passed the rail bridge ). Saw last night that a friend from Milan was coming over for the game so good all fb chat and we met this afternoon for a coffee after 15 years!! he hasn't changed but his "little" brother who was a skinny 12 year old last time I saw him is now a big man!

TheMysticMasseuse · 17/03/2010 10:24

thanks for all your bithday wishes! I ended up having a great day. My rock'n'roll party consisted of me and the other italian mum from dd1's school, sitting in the garden, in the sun (!!!!) eating cake while dcs got covered in mud. Then the babysitter arrived (just in time to clean them up, good planning or what), and i dashed to town to a very interesting seminar organised by some professional women networking thing (i know, sounds dreadful, but trust me, it beats the "expat wives association-let's play bridge and learn pottery). DH gave me a voucher from a fancy store and I am planning to buy lots of make up with it.

Yes Camo I agree that FB has its uses, I love re-meeting long lost freinds.

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 12:02

Hello!
Masseuse, glad you had such a great birthday (and I spotted you celebrating it with a good old MN debate too )

Camo, I always, always fear birds' shitting from the above. I remember once a friend got her hair soiled. Bleah!

Rosa · 17/03/2010 12:51

Sput how are the colds ?
There is a thread about being addicted to 'The Wire' .....
We want to go to the beach in July this year then the Uk in August as if we get the house then we have to be near to stay behind the builders.....But it is getting so hard to fnd anything privato all the agencies have them and they are bumping up the prices...Bloody $$$$

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 13:01

YO rosa! Thnaks for directing me to that thread

July in Italy and August in the UK sounds like perfect holidays to me. I'm sure you'll find something at the end.
So, did you do the compromesso for the new flat?

Rosa · 17/03/2010 14:25

waiting for bank to give us the thumbs up ....I have no nails left and am grey !

Camomilla · 17/03/2010 14:46

I was fuming as I could have really waited a couple of weeks before taking the coat to the cleaners, but hey, might not be too bad as it's getting warmer.

MM, that sounds a great day! you sound more positive in general too, and come spring the place might just looke better too (I was thinking of you yesterday at work as a collegue was so excited she was off to Geneva for a long weekend)

off to get DD up and off to get (I HATE the school run at this time, as that's always when DD's finall sleeping....)

Rosa, fingers' crossed for you!

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 15:52

Yes, we'll keep our fingers crossed for you rosa.

I put on my coat this morning, but it was chilly, so I'm back to my giacca a vento

TheMysticMasseuse · 17/03/2010 16:29

my twilight thread has gone to shit. I am really upset and disappointed. makes me want to leave Mumsnet.

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 16:36

What happened? I thought you reached a live and let live sort of deal?

SuiGeneris · 17/03/2010 17:40

MM, delighed to hear your birthday went so well. DD1's idea was clearly a very good one!

Camo: sorry on the nord incident. it did make me laugh and reminded me of a time at uni when I was having lunch with two ex boyfriends and both got sh*t upon within 10 mins of each other. The different reactions confirmed the view I had reached at the time that one was better lost than found (don't think this idiom works in English) while the other would remain a good friend (well,a t the time I hoped for something more). 12 years down the line, the second is a good friend while I email only occasionally with the first one.

As usual only catching up on the last page as I am starved for time. My mother has arrived today (DH is off on business trips this week and the next) so DS is downstairs being v well looked after and I get to disappear for a bath (and MN while the water becomes hot). I realise now that every time I post I am about to have a bath. These are not the only times I wash, honest but rather the times I get to lie in a very hot bath with the paper rather than snatch 5 mins under the shower while DH babysits before going off to work.

Have connected with most of you on FB now- I just need to find some time to go off and check your profiles now...

TheMysticMasseuse · 17/03/2010 18:30

LOL at SG being a bit unwashed

So I have the possibility of a job. it's short term, start asap, until end of July. I could be good at it, and probably enjoy it. Have no childcare though

do i just go there, and pretend all is ok, and then somehow find a nanny in 2 weeks- or mention it honestly and try to buy more time?

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 20:24

Yo Masseuse! Great about the job. No idea what to do, I'd probably tell them the true, that you need to sort out your childcare. But I'm not the piu' furba del mondo, iyswim...

The wire thread has filled me with joy.

Hi SG! I hope you enjoyed your bathroom. I still remember how happy I was when my mother came to visit me in the UK when the dc were tiny.
I must admit she was fantastic and helped me so much. I hope you find the same comfort (and company, of course)

Camomilla · 17/03/2010 20:53

SG, enjoy your mum, and the freedom that comes with her!! always found it was also lovely watching mum pushing the pushchair with that proud-nonna air...

MM, no idea, i'm a bit like franca in the furba department...

Franca, when I went to pick DS up, we had to take our jackets off!!! it was sooooooooooo waarm and lovely - obviously we have rain on the way though. still, I feel like a new person, been so down in the dumps these last few weeks, but today I felt all re-energised, done work, managed to play with the kids a bit, made lovely risotto con zafferano, and made extra to take to work, my new shawl is coming on nicely (I started knitting to try and keep awake when I watch tv, and I'm finding it so enjoyable - god, I'm an old woman!! - but i'm so proud of myself, as, as usual, I didn't go for a plain blanket, oh, no, had to try a lacey shawl as a first project )

and we bought the family tent!! so any camping site suggestions welcome!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 17/03/2010 21:06

Oh I loved the sight of my mother/mil pushing the carrozzina with the proud nonna look too!

Also, I loved how meticulous my mother was when she made them their pappa, and she used to sing "bolli bolli pentolino fai la pappa al mio bambino...", which my grandmother used to sing

Happy to hear you had a lovely, positive day Camo. And at your knitting abilities.

Plenty of great campsites in Devon, or so I was told by a friend who loved camping, I can ask her, if you wish.

Rosa · 18/03/2010 12:18

Sg make the most of you mother ...they are the best as they know you and obviouly how to look after children so they tick all the boxes.....Now if we could ger MIL do do teh same we will be laughing !
Camping Its not for me I am afraid but who knows in the future.
I even contacted campings and asked if they had accom in bungalows etc for July but they are full ma crisi che crisi?????
I have told dh either he or I am going on Sat or sun pref without dds unless a very sunny day and we are going to see if there are any cartelle up to rent places but I have my doubts.....

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 12:42

Blimey, already booked up? Cavoli!

Rosa · 18/03/2010 13:23

Would you belive it I am on German websites now looking at places and availability !!!

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 13:43

How far from ve you want to be?

Rosa · 18/03/2010 13:50

We have to be fairly near so dh can go back and forth . Also can't be crossing main roads to get to the beach with the dds esp when I am on my own....I just can't believe that so much is already booked..... I can see us having to either split and do 2 weeks and 2 weeks or even consider Jesolo but the beach is so much bigger/ wider and you can be placed miles from the sea with the servizio spiaggia which is useless for sand castle building and paddling !

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 13:52

Oh yes, I see. I'm quite shocked that everything seems to be already booked up. wow!

Camomilla · 18/03/2010 20:40

everything booked up?!?! alla faccia della crisi! I see what you mean about spiaggia. I like the fine shell-free sand of bibione, but I prefer the narrowness (?) of caorle, even if you're at the back it;s still quite close to the sea

I would never consider camping (I mean, really, everyone I tell about it just laughs ), but for now it looks like that's the only way we can afford a family holiday, just the 4 of us IYSWIM. I've only heard good things about brit sites, and quite looking forward to it now that the tent is here (it'll be quite funny when it comes to put it up, as DP seems allergic to instructions , so it'll be Camo-to-the rescue as usual!)!

Francagoestohollywood · 18/03/2010 20:51

You are going to love it Camo. I like camping, I really do... even if I'm lazy and a bit schizzinosa

Sputnik · 18/03/2010 21:13

We always went camping as a child, I absolutely loved it.
Camo the area near where my parents live on the Welsh border is really beautiful, and not hard to get to. Loads of campsites round there I should think. Try Googling Wye Valley, Usk
