where is everyone???? both dds un po' malatine today, actually dd2 was better (after attack of the green snot from the eyes on monday- bleurgh), but dd1 literally fainted last night complaining of mal di testa and exhaustion.

she more or less hallucinated all night... highly amusing in fact, including waking up at 2 to ask whether it was dh or dd2's birthday today... ehhhhr neither.... and announcing, immediately on waking up at 6.30 that she is going to write to Babbo Natale to inform him that dd2 is extremely naughty in the evenings (true, last night she even jumped from the cot!) and so she should get no presents for Xmas (hear hear dd2, late-in-the-year good behaviour won't count, babbo natale was informed in early March of your unfitness for presents!)

anyway- no more hilarity, being home all day with them is exhausting, i feel agli arresti domiciliari. i have convinced her to go to bed now by blackmailing her with promises of fantastic ("stupefacenti", her new fave word) games on waking up.... e adesso che faccio????? any ideas? i am crap at playing....

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 12:12

Hello Masseuse! I was at the hairdresser. I had my hair cut extremely short, like I used to have when younger. I'll have to face the wrath of dd, who yesterday night told me not to cut it short, as she wants me like the other "mamme normali" . So much so for a tiny weeeeny bit of individuality.

Sorry to hear your dds are unwell. I know the feeling of being trapped. I'd call the babysitter and retire to a good bookshop for 2 hrs

I was on one of those "precious" thread yesterday night, I'm scared to go back. Mnetters take this parenting job too seriously.

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/03/2010 12:19

link please- I am bored.

bet you look hot with short hair! and LOL at your dd. DH always tells the story of when his mum got an afro and he and his brother asked whether daddy could pick them up from school the next day

dd1 had a fit the other day because she wants to be blonde ! she says it's because her older cousin is blonde. still, made me almost weep that at 4 she's already conforming to this crappy stereotype

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 12:24

lol lol lol at your husband.

Oh poor dd1, I used to want to be blond as a child too, to be like candy candy

here's the thread. I sound a bit stronza, I apologize in advance

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 12:28

rofl at the rettilario
Last year I met some very nice mamme a bordo piscina. This year they are a bit boring.

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/03/2010 12:32

when i got to the point of the hobbit grande singing un movimento sexy i almost pissed myself laughing! and then suddenly felt insanely broody for a boy

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/03/2010 12:36

insane thread. you were of course not stronza, just reasonable. i noticed a poster called AvonBarksdale... is she Tommy/McNulty? don't think so, judging from teh incredibly smug post.....

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 12:44

Yes, the singing to movimento sexy etc reminded me a lot of my ds .

No, it's deffo not our Tommy/Mcnulty. I can't believe that anyone with a warm/affectionate/normal relationship with its baby would think that not chatting to it for 1 hr a day would damage its linguistic development???

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 12:45

not chatting constantly, I meant.

Rosa · 04/03/2010 12:52

MM sorry that dd is unwell. On waking maybe muffin making ???
Franca well done on the hair cut I haven't got the courage to go short !
Another step forward on the house today then on getting home dh said shall we just buy it and then resell it ? I could have killed him. No way if we get it then we will have a year of restauri arguments and me wanting to probably kill the builders and planning department in the commune as it has a camino in eternet which has to go ( 6 mese di attesa....) but it will be ours ...Speriamo we are not there yet !

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/03/2010 12:55

Rosa, i could have joined in with the dh killing .

let's see, one thing at a time, as my mum says, just nod and smile and then do it your way anyway!

gosh my dds are so unstimulated lately, it's basically all left to cbeebies.

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 12:57

He wants to sell the flat after the pains of a ristrutturazione? He is being unreasonable!!!

Yes, good tip about baking once they wake up from nap.

I have to make soup for tonight, but I'm feeling svogliata. I blame the weather, it's cold again.

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 13:00

Masseuse, your dds look perfectly stimulated, bright and rather charming to me.

Also, isn't your dd1 4? She should be at maternelle (or equivalent) no? They get very stimulated there

Rosa · 04/03/2010 13:08

I find that dd after school will be happy to draw / lego/ and then yes some cbeebies or cartoons . ( ok so I am a brutta mamma).
Since discovering Coop zuppe passate I have not made any ministrone as we all really like it and its not that expensive . I make the bag do all of us as well !
No dh wanted to sell it before we did anything as it is worth a few thou more than we paid for it ( the bank perito also valued it pretty high). I just want a place that is ours and then we can slowly look for something bigger when the dd grow as I think it will get cramped.

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 13:17

Ahhhh I see now. I think you are right in wanting a piece of your own that you can work on.
Also, I don't know about the market in Venice, but here in milan there are lots of unsold flats, because they are too expensive. Would he risk it to have it unsold for a long time?

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 15:22

Well dd have just picked up dd and she cried seeing my short hair.

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/03/2010 15:40

oh no Franca... how heartbreaking for you

what did ds say?

I am about to run out the door screaming... equal parts depressed, exhausted, fed up, bored, unstimulated, lazy.... and guilty that i am neglecting my poor dds whose sole guilt after all is being ill

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 15:52

Oh Masseuse. I'm sure you are not neglecting them. They are ill and ill children are known for watching lots of tv. Nothing to feel guilty about.
I so know/have experience of the feelings you describe.
I recommend sitting with them on the couch and read them stories. They like it and you feel you are doing something for them (reading to the dc - unless it's not a thomas thetank engine book - is my fav activity)

Yes, poor dd . She is now nursing her disappointment at her best friend (who didn't appreciate my hair cut either).

Ds hasn't seen me yet, he's at football practice and my aunt took him. I'm looking forward to his reaction. He is the one who once told me not to wax my peli sulle gambe as they were nice. Bless him

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/03/2010 16:21

LOL at the nice peli sulle gambe. See? dss are precious, they love their mummies more, i've always known.

what do you think are the chances of "accidentally" getting preggers while on the coil? I am feeling insanely broody. Although i suspect it's boredom. which makes me feel really shallow...

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 17:03

No idea, what the chances are of getting pregnant on the coil. Today I had a pang of broodiness while flicking through the magazine "Junior" at mondadori international. It was just an urge to buy cute baby clothes . This you see would be shallow . (this and wanting to name possible baby Omar)

I'm not sure it's true that boys love their mothers more. I think that the nice peli sulle gambe thing is more linked to the fact that children have different sets of values ... the peli probably reminded him of bears or Chuwbecca (sp?)

TheMysticMasseuse · 04/03/2010 18:08

i always get broody when looking at baby catalogs.

So, dd1. Am as usual only getting worried once the doctors are closed. She's got a fever (oscillates between 37.8 and 39). she's tired. She says she has a headache and her legs hurt. She has a bit of rash on her cheeks- but nowhere else, and bad breath.

Dr Google and I have ruled out scarlet fever and meningitis, is there anything else sinister i should be googling or is it likely just the flu?

Rosa · 04/03/2010 19:10

MM Bad breath sounds like sore thoat has she got white bits in it ? But as for the tired legs no idea. Is she drinking and peeing etc. HAs she had slapped cheek ( she is a bit old for that now ?) Broody I would have another domani but dh says I can but with another man !!!!!!!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 04/03/2010 20:18

headache and sore legs can be flu symptoms. Is there an out of hrs doc there?

Rosa, yes, that's more or less what my dh says.
Ds too cried at my short hair
