Francagoestohollywood · 02/03/2010 21:30

Hi camo, so good to hear from you!
at going with your bf to get her wedding dress, it's lovely isn't it? No, I don't think you need to spend too much money on a wedding outfit, there are ways to keep the cost down and get something equally nice.
I hope your lovely dc are keeping well. And hurrah for the tent, I suppose I could easily be sucked up by tent shopping

Bucharest · 03/03/2010 09:54

Marking place, back later.

Rosa · 03/03/2010 12:50

QUick post as have to start cooking for dd party as have dh this pm so making the most of it . Can't cook in the evening as I am too shattered !!!
Hi Camo- I had my dress made it cost me EU500 to have it made and I can't remember how much for the material but I did have a long coat with train so it was double . Plus I wore it twice so had moneys worth ... I do wonder what to do with it now !
Now waiting for Notaio and banca - the banca has to have a meeting ( HQ) to decide if they will give us the money why do things take so long here he said it can take up to 35 days FGS?

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 13:28

Rosa, why did you wear it twice? Did you have 2 different receptions?

And what are you cooking for dd's party?

Hello Bucharest

Rosa · 03/03/2010 13:57

Yes we had the wedding and reception 1 here and then a week later we did it all again in the UK ! There were too many people in each country that couldn't go to another so that was the only way round things. We had said only family in Italy as we were paying so the Uk one was the 'let your hair down one' but at the meal trial a week before we said we have to have our close friends ( who were coming to the Uk anyway) so we made rapid phone calls 6 days before the wedding and asked them all to come as well ... SO It was close family and friends who came to both .Both were so different and great fun . The UK one said they had never had a wedding like ours as we had Italians singing and making it great fun. In Italy my Uncle was in a kilt ( you can imagine the aunties and yes he did show his underwear as thats all they wanted to know !) We ended up staying 2 hrs longer in the restaurant as there was such a a party ..It was lovely !
I am about to go and do Nigellas caramel shortbread. A Chocolate biscuit cake. Smartie biscuits and then my cupcakes am cheating as I have Mr Buitonis pronto . margherita. DOmani I am doing the cake and Friday icing it .. This year it is a Barbie one if it works out .... Thing is I was all geared up about a month ago when ordering things and I am a bit lax now plus so many people haven't replied to the invites I don't know how many to expect - I put either SMS or leave me the reply in dd armadio at scuola - BOH it is so rude ! PLus being in dieta I can't have excess !!!

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 14:01

Your 2 receptions sound so lovely, you must have had a lovely time. I like weddings.

mmmmm sounds delicious. Yes, people are hopeless at RSVP. I wonder why, it takes 2 secs to send a SMS, no? Very rude.

Spring has already vanished. It's cold and grey again.

This afternoon ds has at least 2 friends coming over to play.... help!

Bucharest · 03/03/2010 14:07

Hello, first free afternoon in aaaages, well, since Sunday, but had sicky migraine and was confined to the sofa and dvds.....

Have got Fastweb now, surprisingly easy to install, and very fast indeedy.....(hmm, despite or because of slippery character heading the organisation???)

Rosa, what did you want to know about the VP thingummy? It's 6 euro something a month, my second month's payment has just gone out.

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 14:13

I'd love to spend a sunday of safa and dvds (no sicky migraine though ). Did you see anything good? I missed all the movies I wanted to see at the cinema, uffa.

I agree, fastweb is very fast. One in a while, the line disappears for a few minutes, boh!

Bucharest · 03/03/2010 14:15

Yes, at the moment, every time I get a phone call, when I hang up, all the flashing lights go out.....

I watched nothing more taxing than Midsomer Murders......

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 14:19

My tel rings every time I hang up

A new movie with your scamy is coming out, he interprets a gay man from Puglia.

SuiGeneris · 03/03/2010 15:12

Hi guys, back again- in a better frame of mind than on Monday! Thank you very much for all your support- Monday evening I was really close to giving up but yesterday managed two breastfeeds almost without pain (one at home, one at a BF cafe where they showed a very helpful instructional DVD and where I got 1 hour one-to-one support). And this morning a lovely peer supporter recommended by my GP came round and gave me some more advice. Have not quite managed to replicate everything she showed me, but DS fed and is now happily asleep (and has been for 2 hours! Just been to check on him as it is the first time he has slept this long during the day on my watch), so something must have worked. Now I just have to hope nipples finish healing quickly.

Rosa, your cakes sound v yummy! It is veyr annoying when people do not reply, isn't it? Even worse when they ask whether they can get back to you nearer the time (and the invitation is only for a few days ahead)- I cannot help wondering whether they are keeping their options open in case something more attractive comes along.

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 16:13

Oh well done Suigeneris, I hope this spells the beginning of a new breast feeding adventure for your and your ds

Anyone spare a thought for me: I'm home at the mercy of 4 7.5 yr old boys. aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrgh (chimmmel'hafattofare emoticon)

Rosa · 03/03/2010 16:50

WELL DONE SG and what fantastic support.... Made Nigellas biscits and am not really impressed to be honest they are rather non descript.
Franca - I suggest Valium .
Bucharest what is the name of the company you use pls as Eu6 I can cope with but not $100 a year or whatever it was!

Bucharest · 03/03/2010 16:55

VPNUK it's 6 something a month.
Sui- well done, lovely to see you sounding so happy
Franca! Dontcha know there are no gays in Puglia! (except for Nicchi Vendola and he will be out out out soon )

TheMysticMasseuse · 03/03/2010 16:56

Well done Sui- and I hope you don't mind all that I wrote on Monday- it IS fab news about breastfeeding going well, and I remember well the first (few...) time that either dd slept during the day, it was the most stressful time for me, i kept convicing myself they were dead

fingers crossed it keeps on going well. and we are here for you

Franca- I'd say a glass of red wine before you hit the prescription drugs

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 16:59

valium for the boys, right?

(at the moment they are all dressed up with the dc's dressing up)

Camomilla · 03/03/2010 18:41

wnat some wine too, so sick of pages and pages and pages of consultations!!

SG, wow, you've got a really good bf network there, fingers crossed. btw, dd never really slept, still now... during the day she'd only sleep downstairs and on me! and never more than 1.5/2 hrs. she started sleeping in the basket around 2.5-3 months (by then it was getting too small too) and again only downstairs, but eventually she started having decent naps, so there light at the end of the tunnel!!

dd's trying to escape upstairs, back later!

SuiGeneris · 03/03/2010 18:47

Yes, the support has been fantastic- don't think (am sure) I would have made it this far without the various counsellors, supporters, helplines, cafes etc. And you guys- so thank you! Fingers crossed it will continue going in the right direction.

MM: of course I do not mind what you wrote on Monday. On the contrary, it was just what I needed to counterbalance the guilt trip I had built for myself. Also, while some others kept encouraging me by saying they were sure I would make it, it was also good to be told that even if I did not make it, or gave up, it was good enough. Which reminds me of an excellent book my mother gave me pre-birth, it is called "the good enough parent" (or something along those lines) and it was a really good read. Must find it again.

Whoever came up with the idea of baby slings should have a monument built in her honour: babySG, who had been a bit colicky for the last 2 hours, is now happily asleep, snuggled up against me... it is hard to resist covering him in kisses (the head is just at the right height) but want to avoid waking him up...

Franca: four 7-year-olds: what stamina! what did they dress up as?

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 19:48

Oh cover his head in kisses, I would!!! Babies heads smell so good, they do remind you of little darling chicks (and a bit of at the baby stage).

Yes, it does really sound like you had lots of excellent help and support there SG. I really hope it is all in discesa now.

At the end the boys were really good, if only a tad noisy. My dc have a huge drawer full of dressing up stuff, a mix of costumes made by mil and some very old stuff (my mother's 1970s lycra sottovesti have always been a huge hit). Most of this stuff is getting small, but still appeals to the majority of children who come and play here. Today we had a knight, an indian/peter pan and a power ranger.

Camomilla · 03/03/2010 20:26

SG, yes, kiss him and kiss him again! and I agree, slings are the best thing ever! (in fact I have a small fortune invested in them , different length, thickness, type, even had DP to get me one for my b-day last year, but they've been lifesavers). btw, she-who-must-not-be-named, said that people like them because that way baby becomes an accessory to the outfit, or something along those lines (though I do try to co-ordinate )

Franca, hat off to you for entertaining the boys... ds loves dressing up too, dd puts on anything she finds around as well... should get DP's cow trousers from his parents

Rosa - have you found a house then? sorry, just read very quickly last night

MM, how are you feeling move-wise?

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 21:19

at cow trousers, they'd be much appreciated here

I didn't really entertain the boys, just kept a high state of "alertness" in case they broke something and hurt themselves. But they were really good, they didn't even indulge in their fav pastime: profanities . They were really noisy though.

Camo, I remember you asking for the fascia for your birthday last year

Camomilla · 03/03/2010 21:38

and got another 2 after that, plus a strappy thing for dp!

you would be more like this if you saw the trousers and they were something line £500 too, they were styled by a proper stylist (can't remember who), but they are da "grisui", brrrrrrrrr...

DS's discovered "nuts" and his favourite saying that makes him giggle is "kicking in the nuts" - guess I can't shield him from stuff like that forever...

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 21:42

No, it's impossible to shield them. This morning at breakfast ds asked me: "what does this mean" and mi ha fatto il gesto dell'ombrello

Camomilla · 03/03/2010 21:55

i'm sure some of ds' classmates know a lot more than me in the profanity department!

Francagoestohollywood · 03/03/2010 21:59

Totally. I'm by what comes out of their mouths (and trust m, I like my parolacce). It's usually those with bigger brothers.
