I want to move to Milan actually. Dh had lots of meetings there last week, so maybe, who knows, one day...

Rosa, I wouldn't give a monkey's rat about what your house looks like and real friends wouldn't eiter. it's this italian thing about "la gente parla", you know what, la gente parla comunque, everybody always talks about everything (you wouldn't believe it, i met this girl this morning in milan ), but i have come to realise that 90% of the time it's really not meant maliciously. I always debrief with dh (or more succesfully with my mum, as dh, not being italian, is not that into the talking about people thing) on our friends etc and I am sure they do the same about us.

but i am sure you know all of this, men eh

Francagoestohollywood · 25/02/2010 20:04

Milan is probably better than G, I'll concede you that. And we could write fan fiction together, or better, we could become the next sveva casati modigliani

Francagoestohollywood · 25/02/2010 20:06

Yes, I agree about debriefing and that most of the time is not malicious.

Rosa · 26/02/2010 12:42

MM I honestly give up with Dh over things like this anyway go with the flow an as soon as MR is asleep I am tackling the bill pile ...Its a start. Massive rain and aqua alta this am however got a student to push Mr in her ( old) buggy over the first bit and I carried dd then we went the long way round to school missing some of the deep stuff....WHen will it end ?

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2010 14:52

rosa, lots of rain here too in the night, but now the sun is shining... hope it improves there as well.

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2010 14:53

Bucharest???

Sputnik · 26/02/2010 17:16

Will I do?
Glad you had a good meet up.

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2010 18:02

. I assumed you had gone to your mountain retreat my dear. Are you in Rome for the week end?

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2010 18:03

I've been swallowed by a thread on kitchen's sizes...

TheMysticMasseuse · 26/02/2010 18:05

Sput, it wasn't a meetup... it was a parlay. You feel?

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2010 18:08

True that.
I came up with a proposition (she couldn't refuse)

Sput come to Milan, we could all meet up, all dressed up as the wire cast members, I bet they do those sort of things, like Star Trek's fans!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2010 18:08

Masseuse, have you settled back "home"?

Francagoestohollywood · 26/02/2010 18:31

Elio taking the piss out of the prince Emanuele Filiberto at the festival

Sputnik · 26/02/2010 19:40

Did you re-up while you were at it?
Back in a minute.....

Sputnik · 26/02/2010 20:24

Bravi Italiani for having got rid of their monarchy! (well more or less anyway)
We are heading for the hills briefly tomorrow, but coming back as DH is off again on sunday for 3 weeks.

I baggsie Omar's blue silk pyjamas for the convention (though doubt I'll look as good in them as he does)

Sputnik · 26/02/2010 23:05

Right, well seeing as no one is chatting this evening I have found a website that all you cutters out and keepers of interiors photos are going to kill me for linking Houzz
Notte

Penthesileia · 26/02/2010 23:30

Hey peeps. Long time no see. Sorry to have been away -- missed you all, then felt guilty (like you are family, or something ) for not posting, so was too embarrassed to post. Anyway, I've slunk back in. Ciao tutte!

SG - I only skimmed the last few posts, so just caught a glimpse of your post - sounds like you've had a tough time. I hope you are ok. Brava for expressing.

Pippi - ignore competitive mums. Remember that all those nordic children don't go to school until 7 or something, and they all turn out fine - I think...

@ MM & franca meeting. Sounds like you had a nice time.

I'm sorry you're still not settled in CH, MM. franca's right - it takes time.

So, I'm v. busy at work and feeling a bit stressata, etc. No time, too much to do, etc. Can barely keep up with my emails.

There's work going on in the new/old house. Floorboards up. It's quite a sight. More rot than we had hoped, but not too bad. Re: house size, I think that the new/old house is about 300m2 and 400m2 if you take the (currently uninhabitable) attic into consideration. I'm not sure that can be right, however, as it doesn't feel that big - lowish ceilings, as 18thC farmhouse. Or maybe you just get used to the space?

Francagoestohollywood · 27/02/2010 12:50

Hi there,
Sputnik and Penthe, so sorry I missed you yesterday, I'd have loved to chat a bit with you (and plan our outfits for the convention ... seeing that you've already booked the much coveted Omar's blue pjs, I'll probably go for the Delonda look).

Sputnik: fantastic site, have bookmarked it and will probably going to spend some fruitful time on it.

Penthe, I'm so excited on your behalf for having started working on the new/old house. It's going to be fab... I think it's quite easy to get used to space (but from experience it's also quite easy to downsize, or at least it was for me, but maybe that was just the excitement of being back to Milan?) and good thing it's big... perhaps we could stage our the wire convention at yours???

Sorry to hear you are a bit stressata. I think the first yr of going back to work after a baby is very demanding, so many adjustments to make... (and a massive renovation on top of that...)
Are you still being frugal? shall I lure you on the bonton website???

TheMysticMasseuse · 27/02/2010 17:52

hello everyone!!!!

I have skied! I can still ski, 15 years later! I didn't kill myself (ok I fell once from the chairlift )! I almost had fun!

Am so relieved. I secretly worried that i was going to totally suck and hate it and then there would really be no point to my living in Switzerland...

the plan for tonight after throwing the (hopefully knackered) dds into bed is to watch a Wire doublebill, am excited, it's been a while.

Penthe, sorry you are so stressed out. I am sure i have asked you before, but how's your childcare working out? I found the key to not being too stressed was excellent childcare (in my case, a great nanny). still, i remember well how awful it can be to try and combine a decent working life with a decent family life. Trust me the grass is not always greener though, i find staying at home, while infinitely less stressful, quite tough for other reasons... coraggio

Francagoestohollywood · 27/02/2010 18:01

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! well done Masseuse, so happy you enjoyed your day on the slopes!

Sputnik · 27/02/2010 21:07

Ah MM, you're going for a fondue tonight aren't you? Go on, admit it
We were on the slopes too today, well the sledging slopes anyway. Lovely to be up in the mountains with the sun shining.

Penthe no need to feel guilty for not posting. Glad to hear work is under way on the house. Any idea when you'll move in?

Francagoestohollywood · 27/02/2010 21:12

and what about cucu clocks?

How lovely those sledging slopes sound. Are they long? I love sledging.

Rosa, I read that the Brangelinas are living in Venice at the moment, have you spotted them yet?

Sputnik · 27/02/2010 21:20

Unfortunatly they banned sledges from the one we used last year, we're still looking for a decent alternative.
Went for a nice walk though and looked out over the Appeines to the Gran Sasso, lovely

Sputnik · 27/02/2010 21:21

Appenines obv.

Sputnik · 27/02/2010 21:28

Or possibly Appennines.
