Just popping in to say Hi-been hectic, had my brother over, snowed under with work blah blah. Franca glad you had a good week, am very . SG glad the baby blues have passed at least-it is exhausting though-let the inlaws do everything when they arrive!!Have a break!Houses agree with Sput-Rome is ridiculous price wise. We have a 90 metre flat and I don't know many people who have bigger than 100 metres (unless they are figli di papa and live in one of the family's houses for bugger all). It makes my eyes water to think how much I chuck away in rent every month.
Am not on FB-have always resisted it up to now. Have you joined yet Franca?
Re schools at this stage if DS goes happily, joins in and seems happy then I am happy. I don't know when the UK became so competitive re schooling-certainly wasn't that bad at that young age when I was at school.

Hello care,
SG glad to hear the baby blues have gone and brava for sticking to expressing (what pump have you got? Can I recommend the electric medela one? sorry, if I've done already or you are happy with what you have ).
I really hope you manage to get some "me time" on wednesday when the inlaws visit you.

Gio, hello! How's your dh? Is fil still stressing you out?
No, I haven't joined Facebook, I'm too busy watching bits of the wire on youtube and trying to get a Baltimore accent . I even daydream about having a son and calling him Omar Little as his second name

Anyway, I remember when I was living in the UK there was lots of school angst. I suppose there is lots of angst here too, but my old friends tend to be quite chilled about it. Plus I think people begin to worry when it's time to choose a scuola media, not a primary.

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 09:51

Ah, I'm tempted to make an order from Boden for the dc too. Though I wonder if it'd be a wise idea, given there is a good number of shops I love in Milan which never fail to tempt me... mmmmm decisions, decisions, decisions

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 10:10

Omar was actually on my personal list fr DS but DH vetoed it. I thought it would sound really cool with DH's surname which ends in "mar" too. Omar Khayyam was also a Persian poet and astronomer, very cool, one of my favourite books, Samarkand is about him.

I would wait for next 20% offer if you want to do a Boden order.

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 10:47

I've put the book in my wish list Sputnik, it sounds beautiful.
Yes, I like the name Omar. Tis a shame that in Italy people will immediately think of Erika and Omar...

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 10:59

yes, was thinking that

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 11:04

However, it'd be great to shock all those mothers who pick well to do names that seems to be de rigueur at the moment, all those Edoardo, Ludovico, Lorenzo...

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 11:08

Sorry, I re read my post and it sounds offensive. I didn't mean that the allusion to the horrible homicide would shock the mothers. I think that the name Omar is perceived as a non "classy" name here in Italy, and that would shock mothers...

Oh dear, sorry. I love the name Omar, shame I'm not planning any pregnancy

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 11:14

We have to convince MM I think.

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 11:18

Unless of course she prefers to use a Twilight name. That'd be !

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 13:06

Totally beyond the pale.
Where is MM anyway?

Gio have you noticed spring seems to have arrived here?

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 13:18

She is in Italy, I'll hopefully meet her tomorrow (I'm very excited about it)

It was springy this morning, but it's already turning grey. Uffa.

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 13:22

Kindly inform her what her next child is to be called.
If a girl then Omarette.

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 16:24

I'll try to be as kind as possible

Omarette sounds good. Or Omaria?

Sputnik · 24/02/2010 16:31

LOL Omaria.
Omara?

Rosa · 24/02/2010 19:15

Omarette sounds like a contraceptive.....
Catch up in a mo ....or domani

Francagoestohollywood · 24/02/2010 20:37

It does . Many contraceptive pills names end in "ette"

Rosa · 25/02/2010 12:27

WHinge coming .....Uffa can I cope with buying this house and restoration and everything as I might kill DH first. He is sooo negative also he has started whinging about money ( Yes it is a big expense but I want to draw up a proper budget and stick to it - I am actually quite good at that !). Its dd birthday and she is having a party. I booked the sala 6 weeks ago and he just says its all a stress! He doesn't do anything I do it all even at the festa he normally stays in the back ground. She was convinced she wanted it at a sala. I said she could have 4 friends here and I could let them all make biscuits or pizza or something but Dh doesn't want other parents seeing this house.( no win situation). I have said I would do some private lessons say over MR nap time but again he doesn't want people here. ARRGGGHHHH

Sorry- SG congrats for sticking at it and hope the in laws help a bit.
Think a few episodes of the wire might do me good.

Francagoestohollywood · 25/02/2010 13:14

Oh Rosa. Why doesn't he want people in the house??? I think he is being very unreasonable.
I'm 100% sure you'd stick to a strict budget. So, have you got any news on the flat?
And happy birthday to your darling dd.

I met Masseuse today and her gorgeous girls, Masseuse, move to Milannnnnnnnnnnnn

Rosa · 25/02/2010 13:25

This house is old... the furniture and all fittings are very old. It is generally untidy as I am the only on that puts anything away and we don't have space for everything so we have piles in corners etc.It regularly gets on top of me and I have given up getting cross or frustrated and I just do what I can / when I can. He is is basically 'e una vergonia'....Thing is I know that some of my friends wouldn't give a monkeys but he doesn't even want our friends to come round for a meal.
Awwww MM glad you met up you know most of us now !!!!

Rosa · 25/02/2010 13:27

OH the perito went this morning and on asking he looks as if he will value it to what we want them to then ,its preliminare and then however long it takes to do the controlli and then we sign and hand over Eu6000 to a notaio Grazie !

Francagoestohollywood · 25/02/2010 13:27

Yes, friends don't give monkeys about the state of the house, I totally agree.

Yes, I have ... it's fun!

Francagoestohollywood · 25/02/2010 13:28

gosh the notai, yes. Such a boring occupation and yet so much money they earn

TheMysticMasseuse · 25/02/2010 16:37

I am back! I want to say I am back home, except it doesn't feel like home at all

so, I have met Franca today, she is exactly as I imagined her ie super cool I can also testify to the fact that she is utterly obsessed with the Wire, we walked the mean streets of trendy Milan quoting our favourite bits of the WIre (my dds were a bit bemused...)

Am fairly sure if I have another baby it'll be twin girls, Delonda and Zenobia are my current faves.

will catch up later....

Francagoestohollywood · 25/02/2010 19:36

Oh Masseuse , coraggio, it takes a while before you can call a place your home, that's for sure.

, it is true, I'm totally obsessed , but I'm not super cool

I hope you had a good journey back. You should plan another trip here!
