Yes that is true about his background influencing people perception. And yes it could make one a bit detached from 'real' people. I know friends who are in similar ways detached tbh. And I think I was too in my childhood/youth and would have been had I stayed put or life not going a certain way. Mind you I left because I loathed that life.
But it doesn't have to be this way necessarily. Oh god am I defending him?

AntonioGramsci · 20/11/2009 11:04

Lol at black eye!

We can do either. If you fancy during the week with the minis we can do the M of Childhood. Otherwise the weekend with the biggies, though tbh we tend to be lazy at the weekend these days...

AntonioGramsci · 20/11/2009 11:06

Don;t defend him pleaseeeeeeee, that's how it starts.

I think a sheltered life makes it very hard to understand the issues of the have nots. Or sit on one's bum.

AntonioGramsci · 20/11/2009 11:07

Have asked this am if I can do reading in ds' class for 1 hour a week, now I have to tell dp he has to look after dd at that time. I feel like doing stuff. Must be my new name.

AntonioGramsci · 20/11/2009 11:07

Camomilla · 20/11/2009 14:37

hello, just cought up with you and DC thread

MI, thanks for the suggestion, think I'll do that but use foam instead of cardboard in case they have to bend etc (would love to put tinsell and stars in DS' ponytail, but I think he wouldn't be happy even though he has gorgeous hair (in need of a trim too...) )

back later, have to get this monster ready for the school run

PS - hello AG

Francasaysrelax · 20/11/2009 18:14

I don't know, I don't think that one's background should influence other people's perceptions of his/her politics etc. But I can see how it can easily happen in a country like the UK where class privileges are sooooo evident, where for centuries a class of public administrators etc has been formed in private schools etc.

Oh dear. I'm too knackered to carry on with my arguments
Today I bought the first xmas presents and have walked miles. And I'm going to have dinners with other mums from ds's school in 30 mins.

Ho sonno!!!

Franca sometimes we seem to live the same life, off to school mums meeting as well in an hour.

Yes in England the divide between classes is possibly felt more than in Italy. However even though there's no such thing as private school and therefore schools are more mixed I still feel that many would struggle even in italy to understand how the 'other' survive live.

PippiHasALifeOfRiley · 20/11/2009 18:33

I am getting an orange mini-micro scooter base for big pippi. She asked for an orange scooter as she is fed up with her blue one (she is the only girl that has a blue one in the entire universe apparently ).

Stokke tripp trapp yellow for minipippi.

Soundrack cd of Mary Poppins.

Francasaysrelax · 20/11/2009 18:42

! It'd be nice if you were one of the mums in our school

Yes, but I still think that a good politician should know how huge chunks of society survive. I don't know, here the only ones who are believed to be "in touch" with society are the lega nord guys...
