AG's thread made it into Topic Of The Day!!!

Francasaysrelax · 01/12/2009 15:32

Oh wow! That's successful !!! I started a thread yesterday night and only one person replied

OP posts:

I can't believe people questioning the legitimacy of a thread, just because a subject has already been discussed!!!

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH! I feel blessed by the Mnest stars.

It is amazing that that poster expects me to search archives, they do take the whole thing a tad tooooo seriously. Surely one starts threads just to have a chat, clear up one's muddled head, seek company,....what the hell!

Yes! I read it all as I thought it was quite interesting... Did get a bit arsey at some point.

Anyway - I need some advice from fashionable Milan people... My DH wants to get a pressie for his secretary in Milan, who is 38 years old and great at her job (and ugly, or so he says ). He wants to give her a bottle of champagne, as he would do in London. Now here in the provinces giving alcohol to your female secretary would not be seen as appropriate necessarily - but what about in the Milano da bere? Do you think that would that be OK?

Ah, and no calendar here either - too early. Am trying to conveniently forget Santa Lucia too...

Francasaysrelax · 01/12/2009 16:13

I think a bottle of champagne is acceptable, though my aunt suggest a good bottle of Italian spumante or something more local (or good box of marron glace, I suggest Galli in corso di porta romana for those)

AG thanks for moral support. . Off to bloody swimming pool.

Yes, a good bottle of Prosecco can be as good as champagne, not that I'm a fashionable Milan person.

Fgs they are teaching my DD about £s and pence, ok they follow the British curriculum, but surely euros would make more sense?

Sputnik · 01/12/2009 16:29

BTW for anyone needing to do calendars in the UK, Snapfish are doing 33% off, til 2nd Dec

Francasaysrelax · 01/12/2009 18:53

lol sputnik re the pences and the £££ .

Sput, is dd at a Brit school then? Sorry, I missed that....

What is with this calendar with pics obsession? Pippi was talking about it and made me realise nobody I know around here (they do though diy advent calendars which i think very cute, i forgot to even get one this year...) does it, is it something that has been going on for ages, or is it new? I do use photobox to print, but I feel I am out of the loop (oh, my, is this another EB crockery moment????)
Back later, dd screaming.

Francasaysrelax · 01/12/2009 19:44

Yes, she is

No, I've never done a calendar with the dc's pics, but it is quite a popular gift. They do it at dd's school to raise money, for instance.

Basically it is a simple solution to the xmas presents for grandmas/great grandmas problem! I don't make one for us, that would be overkill, although I was thinking I should have some photos of the DCs around really. I have done it the last 4 years, I think. I also do fridge magnets as sort of "extras", and for me, as I like the idea of accumulating them over the years.

I quite enjoy making them too, it gives me an excuse to go through the year's photos, there are some lovely ones.

Francasaysrelax · 01/12/2009 19:52

I like to go through old pictures

OP posts:
Sputnik · 01/12/2009 19:54

I forgot to answer, yes it's a British school. I am really happy we made that choice as she loves it.

Sputnik · 01/12/2009 20:00

In fact I am feeling all sentimental now as a result of looking at so many pics of DCs today.

PincoPallino · 01/12/2009 20:00

Yes AG calendars with pics of the dds for nonni and MIL and uncles. Saves on ideas and they all want them as they do not see them often and I am a cow for never sending pictures during the year. Not for us no!

Sputnik I will check Snapfish, can I be botehred to do them all over again [fed up emoticon]. I have them ready with photobox but bastards have got no offer at the moment so I am waiting.

We have advent calendars as well.

Francasaysrelax · 01/12/2009 20:03

Oh, ho fatto una figuraccia today at the swimming pool with another mum. Where did I become an overopinionated cow? I blame mn

Was she giving her DCs fruit shoots or something? Or tutoring?

PincoPallino · 01/12/2009 20:07

tell us!

Francasaysrelax · 01/12/2009 20:14

Primary school angst. Apparently there is a state school which is all the rage (in the city center). I asked what was special about it, if it was just that because of its central location only rich children attended it
