Where are you????

OP posts:
Camomilla · 23/10/2009 22:27

I just think they had nothing when they came to this country, and so have become super hoarders, well, FIL mainly. there's more to it, but we hoped that becoming a grandfather would have really given hime a wake-up call, or the series of mini-strokes, or 2 surgeries, or that fact that he peobably wouldn't survive another operation...

JB, actually, that sounds like my childhood xmases at my DGP in France!! my best memories...

Camomilla · 23/10/2009 22:30

BG was brilliant, and she must have heard me shout at the tv when she gave him some history lesson

TheMysticMasseuse · 23/10/2009 22:42

buona notte!

JavierBardem · 24/10/2009 09:06

MM, I am so pleased you like it. I really like McNulty, even though he is a bit of a shit.

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 24/10/2009 09:09

JB have you got The wire to lend me or should I add it to my xmas wich list?

today I am on spring cleaning mode.

and I also found that I like stuff on the boden's catalogue - ! Is it serious do you think? sputnik all your fault !

kids both okay.

Camo how are you and your dc?

OP posts:
francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 10:13

pippi, when you get to the point to prefer Boden to Topshop... there's no going back .
I once bought 2 jumpers for me on the boden catalogue: they are too short and they infeltriscono really quickly.
Yes, topshop shoes are pretty bad quality, but I have a pair of patent dark grey ballerinas with a tiny wedge (bought them 5 yrs ago for 30 quid) and people still ask me if they are prada .
I must be a topshop woman at heart. I should go out with Kate Moss.

Camo, your neighbours sound like big pita. And your inlaws like very hard work.

I haven't read Auto da Fe yet. I read La lingua salvata twice though, it's one of my fav books.

Javier, I'm pretty sure that the NG diet would have great success, at least here on mn.

We are in the country at inlaws. They have gone to a canile with the dc.
I fought 30 mins to defrizz my hair.

Camomilla · 24/10/2009 10:21

DC fine, cough still here but I'm hoping it's better - not nice having abs pains when you haven't even exercised . glad the pippi household if well

I like some boden stuff too ( I'm definetly getting old, find Topshop too young and like Boden [shick]), but normally what I like is either out of stock, or weeks to wait. maybe it's a sign, and as they dress on the big side, it'd be definetly too big for me, though I really like the stripey cashmire tunic

francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 10:40

They have come back with a dog!!!

francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 10:44

I still like most of the boden stuff for children, especially for boys (and baby clothes, they are lovely). Less for little girls, too frilly for my liking.

What's the general consensus on Ugg Boots? I always find myself guiltily admiring the dark grey ones.
hould I give in???

francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 10:44

should even

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 24/10/2009 12:20

Because you are skinny I'd say go for it. They are confy and you will look nice and cosy with them. They are the most confy shoes ever.

I bought a pair when pg and never took them off.

Having said that I think they are ugly ugly and will try not to wear them this year - only way to do this is not to put them on. Once they are on that's it - like in Scarpette Rosse . No man likes them I think which doesn't matter but it is a fact. That's why I bought a pair of biker boots and hid the UGG.

WOW about the dog! How is he/she? Bet the dc and DGs are happy!!!! Tell us about it. They sound like the best DG to have!

BTW will not ever buy from boden as expensive for what it is I am sure/ not confortable in buying from catalogue, and had this idea about the jumpers. Cannot do short ones anymore as I've got an english belly !

I love biker boots too, love them both with trousers and pretty skirts.
Last winter has been so cold in Milan that I really wished I had a pair of Ugg.. and I find the grey ones quite stylish too . Another question btw: can you use them in the rain or do they get ruined?

Oh the dog, the dog is lovely. They got him from a kennel. He is around 2/3 yrs old. He has te sweetest muso and fluffy ears (you know a bit piegate in giù). Various colours. A real meticcio, a mix between a german shepard and a terrier.
Mil, a real dog's expert, is sure that he is a real "cane buono"
The dc are over the moon, especially ds, who is acting really in charge.
It seems weird to have a different dog around, it might be a bit soon. But MIL felt really sad and lonely without her beloved dog (they used to have 2 dogs, the older one died 5 yrs ago, he was 14 yrs old) and I think she needed to have another one around.

francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 12:38

Oh Pippi, forgot to ask, how did the halloween party go? Did dd like it? I miss the lovely parites/school fetes at ds's school in the UK.

I don't buy short jumpers/tshirts anymore too. Soon I'll want trousers a vita alta. Help!

TheMysticMasseuse · 24/10/2009 13:34

i seriously think that everyone should buy boden once to see for themselves how badly fitting and unsexy the clothes are, not to mention a total ripoff. I bought a summer dress that makes me look like a pregnant mongolfiera from the home counties (no offense).

wow wow at the dog! was it in the plans

we;re all a bit sick, dh and i feel really tired and with achy bones, the dds have got the grumpy virus, and i am starting to seriously quesiton whether our meetup will happen on monday... what do ya'll say?

i need to talk about KM but don't want to do it on here, maybe by email...

francaghostohollywood · 24/10/2009 15:14

Masseuse, yes, email away!!!!!!!!!!!

Well yes, a dog was def in the plans. Pil live in the country with a big garden etc, and have had dogs for the last 20 yrs. They can't resist the appeal of a cute dog!
(and neither could the dc...)

Sorry to hear you are unwell.

Camomilla · 24/10/2009 16:46

oh, no, mm, more victims! in case we're all well, has anyone thought about where to go?

really intrigued by the KM gossip now...

franca, that's good, and your dc must be so excited!

pippi, apparenntly boden dress on the comfy side. still, my new woolly dress from the market is soooo pretty, and was only £15 (if you're ever around victoria, check out the market in strutton ground). now, it's grey, A-line with purple "2nordic" type motif on hem, should I go for these? they can go overor under the knee

SorciereAnna · 24/10/2009 19:05

Telegraph article on the position of women in Italy

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 24/10/2009 19:19

Thanks Anna I'm sure this will do for interesting reading tonight when dh is out and children to bed .

Masseuse I hope you have emailed me too!

Lovely Halloween party, thanks!

we want a dog too. not early than when minipippi is at least 2 or even 3.

No No I refuse to buy a dress for £100 without trying it on or knowing where there's a shop close buy where I can eturn asap. Was thinking copying you MM with your JL ons.

My kids are recovered so I am fine for monday but it is up to you.

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 24/10/2009 20:04

i thoroughly recommend JL pippi, fast delivery (although with the postal strikes...) and lots of brands.

i am currently having a bit of a kew moment. i realise it is the poor person's jigsaw, but then jigsaw has become a tad too adventurous for me...

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 24/10/2009 20:13

I am getting old because I love John Lewis. Never bought clothes for me there but the whole great customer service thing.
Bought dd's uniform there and was not much more expensive and great service, delivery, help etc.

Is it bad to LOVE it when DH is away?? (He is never away btw. This is the second time in 5 years).

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 24/10/2009 20:19

no it's not bad. but hard work now that my dh is always away...

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 24/10/2009 20:23

No I guess that. That's why I feel a bit guilty.

Is your dh at home a lot when he was working here?
