Where are you????

OP posts:
Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 22:46

Oh crap. Dh has just come back from football and apparently our car has been broken into, a window smashed and the navigator stolen. Wtf!!

Sputnik · 12/11/2009 22:53

Oh dear. We had that too not long ago, just that they failed to get the stereo. It was a complete pain changing the window though.

Rally should go to bed.....

You have convinced me to get hold of The Wire btw.

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 22:54

OMG! franca! What a pain. for you.

I am at those people who had babies that would go to the museum. DD has been a bundle of energy from her first breath. She's so busy and up to mischief all the time. I miss going to museums and galleries and exhibitions and the opera and concerts A LOT. We used to go at least once a week to something or other. Just not possible with DD. Still, she'll not be like this forever. Right???

Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 23:00

No, she won't, I promise (and you'll miss when she was little etc etc etc). My ds now loves going to museums. They are both very portable
Still, there are times when it is nice going only with adults. I miss going to the cinema.

Sputnik, yes, get it!

Sputnik · 12/11/2009 23:03

I feel your pain Penthe. Not been to a concert for years either.
Unfortunately moving closer to the ILs has not resulted in the flood of babysitting offers I had hoped for.

Presumably one day it will be possible again.

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 23:09

Yes, no babysitters round our way either.

I know, the irony: I'll be on here in 5 years wailing, "Where did the time gooooo????"

Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 23:10

Do they ever babysit? Do you think it's just a question of forcing their hand a bit?
Concerts, yes. I'm less interested in music as I grow older. Depressing eh? Still very keen on going to the cinema.

Sputnik · 12/11/2009 23:13

Both MIL and SIL used to take DD fairly often, even over night, but this was mostly when I was pg with DS and too knackered to take advantage. I think they are a bit scared of DS though, he is a total mammone.
SIL is having them both for an hour next week while we go to parents eve. We'll see how it goes.

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 23:15

DH and I rarely went to the cinema, TBH, anyway. I am of the "will watch any old crap; better still some total shit while drunk" variety , while DH only wants to watch old films. So we tend to buy a lot of DVDs of French/Italian/German/Swedish films, etc.

We used to go to a lot of concerts though (classical), which I miss. Listening to CDs (if I ever get the chance... ) is just not the same.

Sputnik · 12/11/2009 23:16

Forcing their hand, hmm. Maybe we should invite them over, leave something in the oven for them, and announce we are off to the Thai Inn
Right, I should really go to bed now. Notte.

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 23:17

I say Swedish, but on reflection we only have Ingmar Bergman and "Together" by Lucas Moodysson. Hardly representative.

Speaking of Swedish, though, I am addicted to Wallander on BBC4...[shame]

Sputnik · 12/11/2009 23:18

Yes live music is the thing I miss the most too. Ok, really really off now.

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 23:18

Babbling to myself like an idiot!

Night, Sputnik.

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 23:20

franca - you still there? 10 more messages til a new thread...

Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 23:20

Sputnik, yes, I can see that. If he is mammone he needs to get 100% used to your mil and sil before you can leave him for a decent amount of time.

I'm off to bed. I'd like to contribute further to a we need to talk about kevin thread, but feel empty...

Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 23:22

Sounds like a good plan sputnik

Penthe at flaunting a rich collection of scandinavian movies

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 23:22

And with regard to watching DVDs at the moment, the only thing I've been watching is Shaun the Sheep and Timmy Time with my ovine-obsessed child.

"It's Shaun the Sheep! It's Shaun the Sheep! He even mucks around with those who cannot bleat!"

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 23:24

I love shaun the sheep
Is she ready for pingu? that's scandinavian. Oh no, hang on, penguines are in the south pole no?

Penthesileia · 12/11/2009 23:24

LOL

Notte.

Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 23:24

ciao!

Francasaysrelax · 12/11/2009 23:28

Penthe ... I am now for some reasons reminiscing all the woody allen's bergmanesque bits... I'm off to bed lolling...

Sputnik · 13/11/2009 09:35

Penthe you could do much worse than Shaun the Sheep, DS was practically raised by Shaun and the flock. We downloaded some which happened to be Chinese, so DD can now sing Shaun the Sheep in mandarin, which may come in very handy in future years.

Actually I think your DD and my DS would get on well, they could compare tips on running away from parents and watch Shaun DVDs together.

PippiHasALifeOfRiley · 13/11/2009 09:49
