Where are you????

OP posts:
JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:04

Oink, oink! [happy]

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:06

Exactly. The house will still not be done up. So I will totter about the creaking ancient place like some mad Dickensian hag. Hee hee hee.

Just so, Camo. I feel totally obsessed with train timetables at the moment...

Camomilla · 23/10/2009 22:06

penthe, you still have a beautiful house anyway !!

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:06

Off to bed ladies. Half-term hols start tomorrow, I feel very happy to have both kids at home for a few days, just to enjoy them. (of course come Monday I will be eating my words.)

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:07

You will be like Dorothea in Middlemarch, surrounded by beautiful books, in an old dusty house.

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:09

Notte, Javier. Enjoy your kids.

It is a nice house - we have to keep remembering this each time we find something new and scary to worry about. Most recent: some alarming infestation in some of the boards in the snug.

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:10

LOL @ Dorothea!!!!! You have no idea! Because - when I'm feeling particularly unkind - I tease DH and call him Casaubon!!! Too close to the bone!

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:11

I have just had Nutella as well.arghfhhhfhhl;fds!!! The good thing about watching Nick Griffin today was that it made me feel so disgusted, to the point that I hardly had any food. The Nick Griffin detox diet. I might do that, watch him on youtube everytime I want to lose a bit of weight.

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:11

Ok - just a few too many exclamation marks there.

Sorry.

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:12

I didn't watch it. Couldn't bear it. I have enough in my life to make me anxious.

LOL @ the NG diet, though.

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:12

Lol at calling dh Casabaun!!!!!!!!Il povero. Is there a Ladislaw in the picture then?

Camomilla · 23/10/2009 22:13

I think MIL is really p'd off we haven't been up for 3 years (well, a part from DP). but I really HATE it there, the house really has a musty smell, that I've had to wash EVERYTHING I brought there even if it never left the suitcase (I'm terrible with smells, I seem to have the strongest sens of smell ever, probably due to bi nose ), the bed is terrible (can't now complain about the mess as this place is bad atm, but theirs is full of junk, and then there's the dog.... such a pity, they have so much land they could take care of and DCs would have so much space to run around... no, no, no, must STOP NOW, don't want to think about it, DP's already hinting we should go there soon (I didn't mind really, as his friend offered to have us at his house, but now DP's sayin "they've done so much clearing" , no don't buy it, heard this faaaaaaar to many times)

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:14

Ho ho. I wish. Poor DH. It does get him worked up. LOL.

The other - also not so flattering - comparison (for myself too, I must admit!) is with the character in Auto da Fe.

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:14

I might write to him and suggest he drops the BNP and starts a detox/dieting business. He will make soldi a palate.

Camomilla · 23/10/2009 22:15

poor NG, bullied and victimised

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:15

I hear you, Camo. I also find - for various differing reasons - that visiting either my family or DH's is just too stressful. Sad. I'd like to have a lovely big happy family. But it hasn't worked out that way. Chuh.

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:16

I can see the video now, JB!

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:16

Sounds suffocating the set up Camo.

Is that the Canetti? Is it good?

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:18

Yes, it is good, Javier - but in an awful way. Makes you feel awful.

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:20

No, no happy families around here either, except for dp and dcs. I dream of those big French families, lush house in the countryside, they meet at xmas, have long intellectual conversations, dejeuner in the garden, argue but then make peace....ahhhh.

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:21

Lol at good in an awful way, will make a note in my notebook and will read it when i am in hte moood for something awful but good, or good but awful.

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:23

NG made me feel awful, i showered after watching him, shudder. That poor Bonny Greer, I bet she still has the awful smell of his breath in her nostrils.

JavierBardem · 23/10/2009 22:23

notte ladies.

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:23

It's one of those skin-crawling type books. No character is sympathetic. But it is brilliant. And was dead-on, politics-wise.

Penthesileia · 23/10/2009 22:24

Yes, I read the thread and saw that Bonnie Greer had surpassed herself jousting with the evil oik. She rocks.

Notte, tutte.
