LOL at BabyO Camo! I am singing your verion in my head right now!

I sing Oh 'Susanna' non piangere perche' to DD2!

OP posts:
DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 31/10/2009 09:41

This is how bigpippi sings LO: "Oh lady lady lady Oscar tutti facci festa tutti facci tu" instead of "tutti fanno festa quando passi tu"!

Camomilla · 31/10/2009 09:51

at susanna (just remembered the formaggini susanna now, we had the inflatable susanna, I loved it (camo makes mental note of asking if that's another thing that DN destroyed together with so many camo's toys...)

for DD we have "vola vola vola vola vola l'ape"

right, must go get my contacts as they rang me 2 weeks ago... might check if I can get the boots too

TheMysticMasseuse · 31/10/2009 09:51

I only know the slightly dirty version "Oh susanna non piangere perche' ho due palle di riserva nel taschino del gilet"

Hello Sui, i would say LO definitely not appropriate for a baby you're going to have to wait a few more years how about barbapapa as a more gentle introduction? (dd2 is obsessed... her first word was actually "Babbapapa").

and I think that the one training with chains on her wrists was Midori (the redhaired one).

the sigle were amazing though no? Cristina D'Avena was pretty good except when she got her big acting break as a real-life Licia (of "Kiss me..." fame; if you're in cringey mood you can refresh your memory here

Dd1 is a bit sick... had a fever yesterday (38) and this morning she woke up a bit meeh. she's all calpoled up... we have a halloween party this pm, about 6 children coming for snacks and then a trick or treating expedition... what do you think? should i cancel? please say no... she'd be devastated...

TheMysticMasseuse · 31/10/2009 09:52

btw have not been able to stop singing oooh lady lady lady Oscar tutti fanno festa etc etc" since yesterday. LOL at bigpippi's version!

Camo how's dd? and how are the other lazzaretto babies?

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 31/10/2009 10:45

MM Don't cancel. Just fill her up with Calpol after a lazy day. She'll be fine for a few hours. That's what I'd do. Halloween party at friends' house too this aft.

I am typing with my face completely painted by bigpippi who is taking a 1000 pict of DH's asleep on the sofa.

MM minipippi first word after mamma and daddy was "babbapapa" too !

Lol at Susanna non piangere perche' ho due palle di riserva nel taschino del gilet !!!

Hello SG, glad all is well and that you had a good time in Italy with friends and family.

I totally agree with your analysis of the cartoons, lots of example of female independence (don't forget Charlotte and Peline too!). I also had a soft spot for the robot ones, which nowadays would be found too violent... whereas they were all about good vs bad, and possibly for the japanese some way to elaborate the Atomic bomb

Corri ragazzo laggiu' tatada!!!!!!

The dc have only mild temp today, but dd is starting to have tosse secca, so I might have to go out today and by the infamous aerosol!!!

MM I'd calpol dd up and have the party.

No halloween parties nor celebrations for the day of the dead for us, as we are trapped at home. At least ds went trick or treating at school (in other classes) during their ora di Inglese.

Hope minicamo is better today.

francaghostohollywood · 31/10/2009 11:15

The Atomic bomb trauma.

SG, if you want to show your lo programs in Italian I'd start with Barbapapa', Pimpa and then I'd go on with Pippi and maybe Grisu'.

DamonBradleySlaysPippi · 31/10/2009 11:27

for us it was "Corri ragazzo laggiu na na na..." . Yes I loved the robot ones. The good things of having brothers hei!

Yes Franca's list is exactly what I would suggest, although my dds always preferred Pippi before Barbapapa.

JavierBardem · 31/10/2009 11:53

I also agree with Barbapapa, I would not rush kids through their stages, what is the point? Recently introduced dd to BP, a few episodes on youtube.

Have been doing some thinking about LO. What I found very frustrating as a child, why wasn't O allowed to have her military career and fight for the lower classes AND shack up with her lover and be happy with him. Now I realise that at LEAST she is doing her stuff and not waiting for the prince to come and sort her out.

She gets to have a career only when dressed as a man, as soon as he puts female dresses on, she becomes a little doll. Also looking back the female characters are bitchy and vain.

It seems to confirm that to do stuff you have to be a man. Also yes, she does what she wants to do, but the poor girl/boy is surrounded by misery. Boh.

Still lolling at the lesbian subtext. I don't think I can wait till dd is 10 to watch it, I want to watch it NOW!
Busy, busy today.

JavierBardem · 31/10/2009 12:09

What happens at the end of Candy Candy?

francaghostohollywood · 31/10/2009 12:19

Yes, I agree in not rushing children to watch things they aren't ready for (which also varies from child to child).
And I think the later you sit them in front of the tv, the better, really.

I don't remember Oscar becoming a little doll. She dressed as a woman only once, when she tried to impress Fersen. Oh did she have a broken heart with Fersen, I immediately sympathise with her (I was gearing up for a life of unrequited love ).
And I always accepted that she had to dress as a man, it was after all the 1700 (plus, everyone knew she was a woman...) and then she fought in the revolution. w oscar!!!

francaghostohollywood · 31/10/2009 12:21

here javier

The dc are watching lots of telly now that they are ill. They are now watching Charlie Brown, which is always great!

francaghostohollywood · 31/10/2009 12:21

is unrequited the right word?

JavierBardem · 31/10/2009 12:40

Yeah, you are probably right. I prefer Heidi as a symbol of true feminism.
Ds does not want to watch cbeebies because he says they are for babies!!!!! Very silly!

francaghostohollywood · 31/10/2009 12:46

Lol, no ds claims that he is too big for peppa pig or maisy but still enjoys watching them !

We've never really watched cbeebies that much, we preferred Nick jr .. a bit less didactic

Camomilla · 31/10/2009 13:42

DD still got temp, apparently had more orticaria while I was at the shops. but nothing I could se now. poor thing though, still off her food and teary.

JB, DS says the same now about cbeebies, keep on telling him to let DD watch something (as if she would).

off to watch candy, even if I know if by heart

Camomilla · 31/10/2009 14:07

they did do a film version!!

Camomilla · 31/10/2009 14:17

and patsy kensit plays young oscar!!

Camomilla · 31/10/2009 14:19

and she speaks with candy's voice

francaghostohollywood · 31/10/2009 14:21

I can't believe there is a film version!!! I'll watch it tonight with pleasure.
By the way, friends who watched Sophie's Coppola's (whom I don't like as a director) Marie Antoinette claim that she copied Lady Oscar!!!

We made some choc muffins. I always find it nerve wrecking to cook with children. But I'm happy to leave them doing the washing up and they are now cleaning the bathroom. Why am I such a control freak with regards to baking and I'm fine with other domestic activities? There must be a psychological explanation.

JavierBardem · 31/10/2009 15:06

I watched bitses of the movie version, you will see very disappointing to see it a movie version.

DamonBradleySlaysPippi · 31/10/2009 15:09

It is the other way round for me. I have just made a pumpkin cake for MIL's birthday with DD and the whole kitchen was a total mess. Didn't help that DH carved a few pumpkins either and dropped the whole content on the floor.

Great find Camo! I watched 5 min and I am hooked. Shall I feign an illness and stay at home while they all go to Halloween party?
Cannot wait to watch it.

JavierBardem · 31/10/2009 15:37

Oh, are you hooked? I remember being disappointed at seeing that Andre was very unattractive....

Great atmosphere here in the ghetto at Halloween. Was a little surprised before as I thought I heard some shotguns, but no, they must have been odd sounding fireworks. We have had a couple of murders recently, so they could have been.
