Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

OP posts:

I won't be going on Friday. I'll wait till it's all calmed down a bit then maybe go in the day while the boys are at school. I don't want to sit in a packed cinema with hundreds of swooning/screaming wimmin
You going?

oggsfrog · 17/11/2009 12:04

Hoping to. I'd love to see him it on a large screen.

oggsfrog · 18/11/2009 08:39

Yay! Have found someone to go to the cinema with... I'm booking for next Thursday.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 18/11/2009 10:21

Excellent! it must be seen on the big screen methinks.
I went on the Muse gig pre-sale this morning and got six tickets for Wembley Stadium and two for Old Trafford. Yay! No dodgy websites for me this time. Still waiting for the confirmation email though...

oggsfrog · 18/11/2009 10:33

... and you made fun of me for my RPattz addiction

MatthewBellamysMuse · 18/11/2009 10:40

I never made fun of you, I completely understand this addiction thing.
Are you still addicted?

oggsfrog · 18/11/2009 10:44

Oh yes indeedy

MatthewBellamysMuse · 18/11/2009 10:53

I have my confirmation email.

oggsfrog · 18/11/2009 11:59

That must be a relief. Are the six tickets all for the same night or are you going six times?

MatthewBellamysMuse · 18/11/2009 12:07

I'd go six times if I could! No, just the one night. I thought I'd over-buy and then sell on what I don't need. My sisters and brother may be coming but we'll see nearer the time.
Actually, it's two nights. Old Trafford on my birthday then Wembley a week later. So 8 tickets in all [skint emoticon]

oggsfrog · 18/11/2009 12:54

Lyra, UKTicketFactory were the ones I heard bad things about on "You and Yours" on R4 back in July.
Here's a link to a discussion about them which also provides a link to the actual radio program itself on iplayer

MatthewBellamysMuse · 18/11/2009 13:04

I really didn't do my homework properly did I? I won't make that mistake again. Thanks for the link.
They must have been new when I booked on June 5th. There weren't any warnings about them on the net but there are hundreds now. Apparently they're the new incarnation of bookmetickets.com, which was shut down for fraud.

Berrie · 18/11/2009 15:38

Helloooooo!

Woke up in bed last night propped up on my elbow and clutching a large pair of scissors wondering why dh had brought them to hospital.

Am off my face on opiates and other drugs. My back hurts from doing a bit much but the headaches are happily dulled. Everyone else seems to be poorly but we'll get there in the end I'm sure.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 18/11/2009 19:08

Welcome back!
So what's the latest? Did they find the cause of the headaches? Is your back repaired?
I bet DH and the DC are pleased to have you home. How's DH been coping?

oggsfrog · 18/11/2009 20:04

Hellooooooooo!!!!
So glad to see you back.

Berrie · 19/11/2009 09:25

Dh has been wonderful but it has been hard on him. He's got the rest of the week off work. He needs to recover!

The neurologist said they were symtomatic headahes as a secondary outcome of the surgery. He wanted to look at my CT scan and he will call me back if he finds anything. I guess he didn't. My back hurts because I did too much yesterday. It's very hard not to do things but it's a diferent hurt from before so yes, I guess it's fixed.

I'm off for physio this morning and then we are having the cavity wall insulation done this afternoon.

oggsfrog · 19/11/2009 10:13

Glad everything is slowly getting back to normal.

Dd was up 3 times in the night being sick so she is off school today which means I can hopefully spend some time knitting under the guise of keeping her company while she is poorly

Berrie · 20/11/2009 14:01

Poor DD. Is she feeling any better?

Ds had a nose bleed last night, it wouldn't stop. School rang and said he had another long lasting bleed. I guess I'll have to get him looked at. I had mine cauterised as a child too, not very pleasant.

The physio was cross with me yesterday for being out and doing too much. (it was a pre emergency op appointment)I must not go back to work before Christmas. I am only allowed to sit for 20 minutes. I must not bend and pick things up. Anyway I had a few headaches yesterday. Not the excruciating unbearable ones but pretty nasty. Dh went to get me some oral morphine but gave me ml instead of mg. He rushed upstairs in a panic saying he'd given me double the maximum dose and should he ring an ambulance? I told him to ring the GP who said it would be ok. It wasn't very pleasant but I am ok!

I'm going for a walk in a bit to see if I can take ds to school or not. I won't be able to walk all the way to pre school and the only person who can help already has 3 children and won't be able to fit them all in. Next week is still a mystery to me. Don't know how we will manage.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 20/11/2009 15:05

So thing aren't really getting any better?
It's all very well your physio telling you off for doing to much but you are a mother and it's hard to do nothing.
What was the morphine overdose like? Are you now a junkie?

Berrie · 20/11/2009 15:48

She says I've got to get the kids to do things which will be good for them. She also tapped my belly and said she wanted that gone next time she sees me! She's really good actually. I have lost 8lb but that is because I didn't eat for 5 days while the headaches were bad. I'm not really eating properly now either. I think the drugs kill my appetite. Dh is getting very cross when he sees me picking suff up. Let's just say there are rather a lot of things to pick up! We had a lovely day today with the kids out. We slept until 1.30 pm! We have not been able to do that for 6 years!

The morphine gives you that nice feeling that you get when you are just getting drunk and you feel warm and relaxed. Unfortunatly it also makes me itch terribly and when I close my eyes to sleep I get a falling feeling which makes me jerk awake. Things on the wall and hanging up appeared to come towards me too. I'm not going to be a junkie any time soon as I find it unpleasant but it's better than intense pain. Unfortunatly unless it is intravenous it doesn't work quick enough and only Doctors can administer it it that way. On the ward it had to be oral or through a needle. Through a needle needed two nurses so that took ages to organise. All this meant that the poor patients in my room had to endure all my moaning and groaning and then my sobbing when they couldn't get the morphine to me and then ignored me completely.

Berrie · 20/11/2009 15:48

Ooops forgot to spell check that!

MatthewBellamysMuse · 20/11/2009 17:32

It sounds like you've been through a really horrendous time. Does it feel like things are getting better, if slowly?

Berrie · 20/11/2009 17:41

It's lovely to be home. My back is simply amazing. I can't describe how lovely it is not to have a pain in the back and leg. I tried a walk this afternoon and got up to the school ok. I was terribly unfit but my back or numb leg did not bother me.
On the headache front I am not very happy. I've got one now so the fact that I am typing tells you that it is not severe. While I am having them though, I am not brave enough to stop the pain killers and while I'm on the painkillers I can't drive or even talk sensibly half the time! I'm wondering whether it might be an idea to try coming off them this weekend though as at least dh will be here or maybe I should wait until the following weekend.Dunno.

oggsfrog · 21/11/2009 10:12

How's it going today Berrie? What did you decide about coming off the painkillers?

I must say this has all been a bit of an extreme way to get ahead of me in the diet

Lyra, there was another article on You and Yours (R4) yesterday about the dodgy ticket company.

Berrie · 21/11/2009 12:07

I've not taken any of the opiates today though I am still on the paracetamol and the gabapentin. Feeling ok.
