Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Morning!
How are we all?
I'm putting off the housework reading Dead Until Dark (True Blood 1). It's really, really badly written. Charlaine Harris has no talent with words. The TV series is so much better. And the Elvis bit was just . Utterly preposterous to the point where I nearly stopped reading.

Berrie · 23/11/2009 11:13

Tee Hee. I didn't bother with the next books.

I couldn't get anyone to pick up dd for me today so she is at home with me. I have finally managed to get her to watch the TV so that I don't have to play 'talky friendly' with her any more. We've done talky friendly helicopter, cat, walle. Next talky friendly horse and fish (in the bath)Then talky friendly playmobil vets. She has a captive playmate. I am hoping to pick ds up from school. I need to get a Dr to ok me to drive this week! Not that I am ok while taking the painkillers. I tried not to have them but had a rotton headachey time so I'm stuck for now. I'm worried about getting addicted to the painkillers.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/11/2009 11:38

What exactly is talky friendly?

Berrie · 23/11/2009 12:08

You have to hold and speak for a character, could be a car, a cat or a spoon. She will have one too and they have to talk to each other. It's very boring.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/11/2009 12:47

It sounds it
Finished the book - what a big fat waste of my time. Right, off to sort out the pigsty...

Berrie · 23/11/2009 13:57

Its bloody pouring! I'm so looking forward to my walk to school

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/11/2009 14:55

Its been grim for days here too. Oh how I'm looking forward to the dark, cold winter months

Berrie · 23/11/2009 16:20

Oh God oh God oh God! So embarrassing!

So I got up the hill, stood outside the school door. Felt faint and dizzy and started to shake. Went and lay on the floor in the classroom. A parent had to walk the dc home while ds's teacher brought me home. Good job I'd tidied up a bit before I went (though perhaps it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't tidied up!) Now I have a shocking headache.

MatthewBellamysMuse · 23/11/2009 17:17

Oh no! Don't worry though, they know about the health problems you've been having don't they? Presumably they didn't think you were drunk

Berrie · 23/11/2009 17:30

Yes they know

oggsfrog · 23/11/2009 20:23

How's the headache now Berrie?
Have had no power since last night... it has only just come on.... a pole was down in the bad weather and it's taken them until now to put a new one up.
Have spent all evening playing games by candlelight

Berrie · 23/11/2009 21:52

That sounds nice.

I've had 2 bad headaches today.

oggsfrog · 24/11/2009 13:52

Oh dear . Any better today?

Berrie · 24/11/2009 15:31

Yes thanks!

oggsfrog · 24/11/2009 18:07

Jolly good .

Very wet and windy here today.

MattBellamysMuse · 25/11/2009 00:11

Here too. How long till spring?

oggsfrog · 25/11/2009 07:32

Too long! Think I'll get way with heibernating until then?

Woo! New Moon tomorrow. Tickets booked

Berrie · 25/11/2009 08:23

I'm going to pissing miss it WOn't be sitting in a cinema for that long for a long while.

Bastard Doctor wouldn't let me drive again. I've got to wait until the 21st Dec. Dh is getting his Dad's mobility scooter tonight which should help(Berrie ignores fact she is not supposed to sit)I just can't ask the people who are helping this week to do it for so long!

Sorry for grumpy post - have a bad head.

oggsfrog · 25/11/2009 09:12

Don't fret about missing it... it will be out on dvd soon no doubt and dh will probably be able to download it from somewhere.

The Dr may well be a bastard, but he is restricting you in your best interests... your back needs time to heal! You should not be sitting for extended periods.
You only have one back, and you know how it affects all of your body (and mind) if it isn't working well

Remember what you said.... ""It's lovely to be home. My back is simply amazing. I can't describe how lovely it is not to have a pain in the back and leg.""

Do all your shopping online. Explain to everyone that for the next few weeks they will not be getting the food/attention/presents that they are used to, but they will be getting a well Berrie!

Throw yourself on the mercy of the helpers you have at the moment. As a last resort dd can stay at home with you if needed for the next few weeks (although benefit to your back may be negated by the baldness resulting from you pulling your hair out after one more game of talky friendly . You can always wear a hat ).
Let the schools know the situation. Tell them in advance that the dc may well be absent at some points over the next few weeks.

I know it seems impossible.
I know it is impossible at times.
You will get through it.
You will be able to look back on this whole episode from a whole new happier painfree place within time.

Chin up chuck!

Anything at all I can do to help, just let me know.

Berrie · 25/11/2009 10:18

Yes Miss

Thanks Miss

oggsfrog · 25/11/2009 10:23
Grin
oggsfrog · 26/11/2009 08:47

Morning!
How is everyone on this rain and mostly windfree day?
My plan was to go Christmas shopping before I see New Moon, but dh is out dyking so I can't leave Pip pup on her own all day. Instead I'm going to have a tidy, do some washing then shoot off at lunchtime.

MattBellamysMuse · 26/11/2009 10:41

Have fun. It's bright and sunny here

Berrie · 26/11/2009 10:42

Going Dyking? Sounds a bit dodgy!

Hope you enjoy your day. I'd better get online for some stocking fillers. We are doing vouchers for everyone else. Actually, when I can walk and sit properly maybe me and dh could get a babysitter and do some evening shopping. It's much nicer choosing your own stocking stuff.

Ds's first tooth came out last night. When he first found it wobbly I had a real pang. My baby!

I had a go on the buggy this morning (sorry Oggs) I am going to see if I can sit all the way to school tonight.

It is just impossible to lie around and not do stuff. The asda van has just been and now my back hurts. DD is desperate to play talky friendly Walle and Eve. Better go.

Berrie · 26/11/2009 12:06

Oh God oh God oh God.

Reeeaaallly bad headache. Not a can't speak, can't breathe one but bad enough. If it comes again I'm going to have a slug of oramorph. Don't really want to be drugged in charge of children though...
