Hi, hope you find this thread. The old one was too big.
Varifocals eh? Not sure I'd fancy that.
DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

Oggs, there appears to be a picture of you holding a very large hairy spider on Facebook!

Gah! It looks like he's had his legs chopped off. How do you do the spider emoticon?

'Twas at Longleat last year. Dd held one too this year
I like tarantulas.

oggsfrog · 10/11/2009 13:06

Ooh! Ooh! I am typing this on my laptop!! Ooh! Ooh!

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2009 14:41

How exciting! Is the wireless working or have you got it plugged in?

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 10/11/2009 14:57

Wireless!!
Have also set up file sharing so I can access all my files etc that are on main pc

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2009 15:03

Excellent! It will revolutionise your life.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 10/11/2009 16:25

Woot!!!!
Salesman told me that wireless would probably only work in same room as pc because we live in a caravan (the metal walls would interfere with the signal), but I'm in the back room and it's working
Am overjoyed with it! It's fantastic!!!
Hurrah for technology!!!

Berrie · 10/11/2009 18:12

DH here. Berrie had a bad night last night.
She has been prescribed a new medication fingers crossed.

oggsfrog · 10/11/2009 19:30

Fingers crossed that the new meds will help. She must be miserable

LyraSilvertongue · 10/11/2009 20:42

What do they think is the problem, Berrie's DH? Was this something she was told might happen?

Oggs, your salesman clearly was an idiot. I'm glad you're enjoying it - I feel the same about my IPhone. It's so amazing and there are so many applications I can download for free, fun stuff like games and useful stuff like the Tube map and Sky News.

Now my back's gone. It's been a bit twingey for a couple of days but today I lifted a bucket full of water and my whole right side went into spasm. Excruciating. I couldn't move at all. Luckily the boys were on a playdate so when I could eventually move I lay down for an hour till it began to calm down. Have taken the pills prescribed last time, which I still had luckily (Diclofenac, Co-dydramol).
Bloody back pain.
To add to the misery, it looks like my tickets to see Muse on Friday night aren't going to arrive. I paid £175 for them in May, well over the face value, but I've since discovered the site I bought them from is a scam operation and most people don't receive their tickets of a refund. To say I'm gutted is a massive understatement. The tickets were supposed to arrive "3-5 working days before the event" but no sign of them yet and no response to the email I sent to ukticketfactory.com.
If all else fails I'll try to buy a ticket from a tout at the venue but I really can't afford it. But I can't miss it either. They're my favourite band of all time and I've been looking forward to it for months.

Back much better today. I slept with a very hot hot water bottle, which seems to have helped. Still feels like it could go back into spasm at any moment though.
No luck on replacement tickets.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 12/11/2009 19:39

Sorry not been around Lyra. How is your back now?
What a bummer about the tickets . I heard something on R4's 'You and Yours' about these scam companies a while ago.
What will you do? That's an awful lot of money. Who were you going with?

oggsfrog · 12/11/2009 19:58

Hope Berrie is on the mend.

LyraSilvertongue · 12/11/2009 20:00

I was going with DP. He's going to see if his contacts can come up with a way of getting us in. Otherwise I'll have to buy through a tout. I can't not go, I just can't.

LyraSilvertongue · 12/11/2009 20:01

I had an emailed reply from them, saying they've been let down by their suppliers and will refund my money. Apparently it's a standard reply so I won't be holding my breath. I'll do everything I can to get the money back though but they're an anonymous company registered in Vancouver.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 13/11/2009 10:07

Fingers crossed that you manage to get in to see them one way or another.

Worried about Berrie. Hope everything is okay.

oggsfrog · 13/11/2009 20:37

Any news?

Anyone?

LyraSilvertongue · 14/11/2009 01:56

Hello! I got tickets in the end. Someone on another thread suggested going to the venue and waiting to see if extra tickets were released. I got there about 3pm and just before 7pm they released 18 tickets so the wait in the cold was well worth it. I was so excited after days of thinking I may not be able to go.
The band were absolutely fantastic, as I knew they would be. it was all over way too soon even though they played for 2 hours.
They've just announced two stadium gigs (Wembley and Old Trafford) for next September, going on sale next week. I will be first in line but will purchase from a reputable agent only this time.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 14/11/2009 09:34

Oh, that's great Lyra! So glad you got to see them in the end.
How much were the tickets? Did you get them for face value?

Am quite worried about Berrie now. Hope dh finds the time to bring us up to date soon. It must be very difficult.

LyraSilvertongue · 14/11/2009 11:32

Yes, face value from the box office. It's very useful to know that at 99.9% of gigs there are tickets released at the last minute so if you can queue for hours you've got a good chance of getting in. There were at least 100 in the queue and they only released 18 tickets but I was at the front, behind two others who'd been waiting since midday. The guy behind me had come from Mexico without a ticket! Luckily dp had the day off so could deal with the children while I went hunting tickets.

I'm getting worried about Berrie too. We need an update Mr Berrie.

OP posts:
oggsfrog · 15/11/2009 13:33

Have managed to get in touch... Berrie is still in hospital .
She's still getting the headaches but is seeing the neurologist tomorrow. She's hoping to be out in time for ds birthday on Tue.
Her Dh hasn't had time to update as he understandably has his hands rather full.
Have sent Berrie our love.

Are you still on a Muse high?

LyraSilvertongue · 15/11/2009 14:02

That's not good news. Poor Berrie. The op was supposed to have helped, not make her worse.

Still on a Muse high, yes. I spent all day yesterday listening to their albums, reading the programme, downloading pictures from the gig and watching live performances on the TV. There really are no words to describe how good they were on Friday night. Sigh...

Anyone going to see New Moon when it comes out?
